I'd be down for that. There's a historic farm in my state that does tours of the grounds and old home as well as various events through the year, they talk about Victorian era Christmas tradions in December on the weekends and dress up in 1870's style cloths. It happens late in the evening so guest get hot cocoa and there's live music and stuff.
Oh my gosh I just had a vision of you in the future presenting historical documentaries on the victorian period. Walking through the country side and little villages and talking to the camera about all sorts of topics. PS: Your hair looks amazing, this style looks absolutely beautiful on you!
Loved this video - thank you for letting us appreciate the fine art and adorable quaintness of Victorian Afternoon Tea with you! Fun fact: the concept of tea (or cha) actually originated in Ancient China, and was only brought to the UK during the mid-17th Century. It is both fascinating and rather amusing to think of how synonymous tea has become with English culture, since its roots are really not very English at all! Even so, it has become an absolute staple in our lives here in the UK, as well as in so many amazing cultures across the globe. I myself am an avid chai enthusiast, and would highly recommend that everyone should try authentically-brewed karak chai at least once in their lives!
Ruby is the main character and we are just living in her world. loved this video so much ruby , if my friends started asking me why I am suddenly inviting everyone to drink together I am just gonna show this video to them.
This is one of my favorite videos that you have ever made!! It seems like you had a lot of fun making it and it turned out so beautifully!! As for video ideas, here are a few of my suggestions: - Victorian Inspired Look Book -Victorian Inspired Paint With Me (if you enjoy art :) ) - Victorian Study With Me - The Influence that the Victorian Period has upon Dark Academia -Victorian Book Read-a-thon -Victorian Letter Writing -Victorian Day in the Countryside - Victorian Inspired Room Tour If I have more ideas later I will update you! :D
Fun video, beautiful subject and tea table. I have always heard that besides flowers on the table you should also have a tea cloth or white table cloth.
At our library we had Beatrice Potter historian seminar with girl scouts serving with their family favorite teapots The girls were so involved with saying their favorite memory of family gatherings with the family teapot . Also the girls wore white gloves while serving they were so adorable!!!
I really appreciate the history, and that you mentioned the Duchess of Bedford, because most people just say Queen Victoria was bored one day and voila! Afternoon tea! Thank you, Ruby💕
I’m sure Ruby’s friends are really lucky! They might get to do all these fun stuff with her. How I wish I knew Ruby in real life! This video is aesthetically pleasing and soothes my senses. 😌
That was super interesting to watch! As someone who still regularly attends and host tea parties because it’s part of my culture (I’m a Sephardic French jew! Tea parties are a shabbos afternoon activity) it was very interesting to compare how Victorians did it VS how we do it. I’ll probably borrow some of these Victorian recipes for next Saturday!
This is what I’m doing today for my husband and children. I’ve done it before years ago and have really missed. Jam was made yesterday and Scones have just come out of the oven and I’m about to make Victoria sponge (like my mum used to make so a bit different to the traditional cake). Your video has helped loads with preparations ❤️

Please note all the dedication to prepare this video. So many investigation and prepartion: all that baking! Thank you a lot for producing it and sharing so we all can enjoy the time you had and learn more about it.
I’m an older lady and I have very fond memories of afternoon tea at home with my Mother.. As a treat, we would sometimes have afternoon tea at a rather posh hotel in town. With all the rampant informality of this time, I’m pleased to see a young person enjoying the “finer things.” Sometimes, it’s just nice to have a sense of occasion.
What a shame that we've lost a dedicated time of the day to rest, refresh, talk, and have a little reset in the middle of the day - makes me think a bit of the siesta. Would love to see a video on Victorian poetry!
I'm indian and my family and I drink tea together every afternoon! Sometimes we enjoy it with homemade goods. We always have a conversation while tea time, and hear my sister practicing her piano. Many others (at least bengalis because that's what I'm) spend their afternoons like this. It's not exactly the same as victorian tea time, but it's a time dedicated to rest, refresh and talk!
In Spain we still have siesta after lunch, specially during the hottest months of the year, and that mid afternoon snack, mainly because most people have dinner at around 21 or 22 pm. Although the siesta and snack depends of your daily life, if you have time to stop for a bit or not. But whenever people have time they do actually do those things. Also mid morning snack exists too, specially for students and adults at work. This depends again on how soon you have to wake up because our lunch is normally at around 14 pm, so the mid morning coffee/snack break would be at around 11 am. Yes, we do work and study as much as everyone else, we just do everything later than most people. In places like Italy this is a thing as well, it depends very much of your lifestyle but is part of our latin culture I guess.
In Sweden we have something called 'fika' which have around 2-3 PM and even in some workplaces you have it where you gather your co workers and have a chat/break while drinking usually coffee and eat something sweet. On birthdays this is the time when you have your cake and stuff. I can't go a day without having fika. I usually have a sandwich and some cookies. During the summer I usually go for ice cream.
I absolutely love these Victorian videos and appreciate so much the effort, dedication and passion you put in to them! I have always been very fascinated by the Victorian and Edwardian periods and these videos are just so informative and lovely to watch! ❤❤❤
Ruby put so much effort and thought into this tea party, everything from cooking the food to making this video. And looks like she enjoyed every bit of it!! I love this 🍵🍪❤
I absolutely LOVED this video, all the information packed into it, and it definitely made me want to host a tea party like this! I wouldn't even mind seeing other takes on this traditional tea party in the future!
Thank you for the tea party video. I am planning for my daughter. Your video was great! I just found you on youtube when I typed in vintage tea party. My Grandmother was from Kent, UK. Your house looks old an beautiful. Thank you. Sincerely, Heather from Wisconsin, USA
I absolutley love yr channel. I cam across it the other day and I love it!! I love yr dresses as well. Where do you get them? I would love to get similar items but, don't know where to shop. Thank you so much for all you do to teach us of the Victorian Era! I am absolutely in love with Victorian times
the way i like to make cucumber finger sandwiches is with a small piece of soft white bread, a layer of whipped cream cheese, thinly sliced cucumber, topped with dill and a little bit of salt. I brought them to a party once, they were a favorite!
I should have my aunt show this vid to a little girl in the family. She's a sweet girl and she loves to collect teapots so I think a video like this about a Victorian style tea party would be right up her alley. She's young but very smart so she might try and set one up herself with help from her parents.
Such a lovely video! Great work! My personal favourite finger sandwich combination is cream cheese and cucumber on whole wheat bread. Pretty standard as well😄.
I absolutely adored watching this video Ruby❤️ You put so much care and love into each video, and it really shines through. I look forward to every upload. By far my favorite youtuber
If you want an easy classic Victorian hairstyle I suggest you do a small plaît at the front on each side of your face, make a low bun with the rest of you hair. Then tuck the ends of your plaits around the bun and into your hair elastic, try to leave enough plaît slack to frame your ears. If you can do any simple braid like a plaît, then this is a easy way to make that bun a little extra Victorian
You"re such an inspiration! These videos are so interesting, and they inspire me to do something more, something fun with my research area as well. Also, I think you will publish so many great books, and I just cannot wait to read them all, haha, and listen to your audio books 😊 Victorian queen 💕😊
