Ever since I can remember, I've dreamt of building my own camper van. Today, I'm excited to start converting my 2013 Fiat Doblo Maxi with a 1.4-liter Natural Power engine (runs on petrol and CNG!) into the ultimate adventure van to travel to the North Cape to see the northern lights. This van is completely identical to the Opel Combo, Vauxhall Combo, and Ram ProMaster City with the long wheel base (LWB).
In this first episode of a huge series, I’ll show you around the van and then completely gut and strip it. This includes removing the metal bulkhead, including some nifty security screws, taking out the built-in aluminum Sortimo shelving, removing the aluminum wall paneling, and ripping out the glued-in wooden cargo floor and the riveted wheelhouse covers.
