Instant purchase for me. Ive spent a good few hours in this sim. Your right about KW, they definitely need to invest more into it. Love the ffb on the upshift.
RaceRoom is underrated. The tracks are kind of where it bothers me. Not laser scanned or LiDAR. But, it is a pretty old sim on a very old platform (derrived from GMotor 2). It almost pains me that RaceRoom isn't more than it is. The simple, hop in and drive nature of it, the best FFB in the business IMO, and the large amount of high quality content, it could be legendary. The tracks are an issue, the pricing is an issue, and a lack of what are now industry standard features like dynamic track and weather, full 24h day/night cycle, and a lack of things to do (lackluster championships and no career or strong online base), just held it back for too long. Incredible sim, and totally worthwhile if you want to run massive grid, full blown races with easy set up and everything. You can run the maximum grid size for the tracks with performance hit and it'll let you go crazy with setting up the grid how you want it, which, if you're an AC player, is an extremely welcome change of pace from the tedious, and copious setup that is required to get things right, not to mention to the super limited grid slots and the fact that when you run one too many cars the game will instantly go from perfectly fine to unable to function. That said, if you're a tinkerer like I am, and you like to get things as accurate as possible, and you like to experiment, and generally just do things outsideof the box, than RaceRoom isn't really for you. And that's kind of the problem. How can most people justify spending so much for all of the content, when they can get the exact experience they want for cheaper? RaceRoom is a hop-in and have fun sim, but the community is full of tinkerers. You can literally do anything you want in AC. Rally, rallycross, oval racing (use the rolling start mod), drag racing, street racing, drifting, karting etc. And while I get the idea of paying a premium for the level of quality and ease of use you get with RaceRoom, most people keeping it cheap will go for AC. Give me a career mode, or a more in depth championship system, and I'll be back to soending money on this sim.
The Racing Life app has a Raceroom version, and that’s pretty fun as a career mode. I agree with you though, and the Raceroom should have its own career mode instead of having to rely on a third-party app, and the same goes for Automobilista 2.
You say "spending so much for all of the content" but around $110 for everything Raceroom has to offer doesn't seem bad at all, especially compared to other sims. AC has a lot of paid mods too, it starts adding up if you try to get as much content as Raceroom and the quality of AC mods is very inconsistent. Granted, AC with free mods is already a really good experience but I'd still argue that Raceroom's consistency is worth the price, even if some track models aren't quite up to spec. They did upgrade Portimão to a laser scanned version and it's a free track, but they're going to charge for the Oschersleben upgrade... It will be discounted for who already owns it at least.
idk but 50 bucks for all the content at the time of purchase seems pretty reasonable for me, in iracing you can't even take 1 years of membership with that money

I’m a Raceroom fan, and I’ve really enjoyed playing this update. Running it back to back against LMU and ACC, I found the racing to be more fun in LMU and better overall in ACC. It’s still really good though.
Recently spent the big money to get everything in this game. As someone who plays on a handheld PC (Legion Go), this is easily one of the best pickup and play sims out there, maybe only beaten by AMS2, but I find the licensed content much more attractive on RRE (DTM, WTCR) than on AMS2 (Brazilian Stock Cars). I would argue it’s an even better controller experience than Project Cars 2 was on my PS4. As others have said, it needs dynamic weather and day/night cycle but otherwise I’d say it’s a really good entry level sim with some really fun licensed cars to drive.
One aspect that i really like about raceroom, that isn't nearly mentioned enough in reviews: The default setups in this sim are really well curated. I've heard both devs and esports players say that, unless you look for the last 2-3 tenths, don't bother. Stark contrast to other sims where you either have to spend a lot of time or money on setups as a beginner.
Not adding dark and damp tracks was a huge missed opportunity. They will pay the price for that, and with EVO around the corner this looks to die a death. It needs to come out of free to play, build RRE2, port your content over and include weather and night racing with a modern engine. But that ain't gonna happen. Free to play was the curse here.
Thing is, each one of these simulators drives really differently. I can be within 1sec on LMU from eSports drivers on Hypercars, while I'm 2sec a lap off normal people, on a Mazda MX5, in Raceroom. You also need setups, and basically what Mr Muscle says, you need a community so that you have races, setups and kind of learn your way in. Raceroom has way too much grip imo. Also after having tried iRacing for one year, I have to say that I hate driving it. It has nothing to do with a tyre and it's stupid, BUT I'd love to just use a simulator that has depth and variety like iRacing. Try to setup a cockpit camera for example, iRacing has a huge amount of options, and it's like that in many ways. I'm also totally fade up with LMU. It doesn't progress as who's coding doesn't own the code, they are not sim racers and you have certain things that are hearbraking like the most stupid track limits, and then the basics are not there...race at beginner and everyone has fake ABS, you don't have a per car seat position memory...it's just painful. I'd love something like iRacing that drives like LMU, but it isn't there. Anyway good work on this update in Raceroom but I'm not sure about its future. Lots of competitors.
Been playing R3E since launch. Always enjoy it. It's the hardest to drive sim compared to AC, rF2 and AMS2. I can whip cars all over the place in the others but RaceRoom will kick my ass if I get out of line. Edit to add R3E also has the easiest LAN/MP server setup. A simple web based click interface and a big Start Server button. No BS like with all the other 3.

75€ (via VRP) for all the current content - Ferrari 296 is not a lot for the content you get. It gets pricier after you bought the premium pack, though.
R3E has been around a long time but it has fallen behind other games in different areas. This graphics update is a major step forward but I think it will take several more similar leaps to close the gap to its competitors. The R3E ranked system was in a healthier state some time ago but has really dropped off since. If R3E ranked improved to an LFM-like multiplayer experience and in game server splits it might grab a slice of the online community and could offer some unique race classes like DTM.
perhaps i m wrong but RRE felt less dynamic compared to rf2 ac ams2. i downloaded the game again to test the new update which is amazing graphicaly wised but the handling doesnt attract me.
Every sim is less dynamic than RF2, there is nothing better for pure driving pleasure with DD wheel, AC is close second, AMS2 is the best entry into sim world, iracing best for competition. Raceroom is really good but literally has nothing that would beat other sims...
Same here. It looks very good now in VR, especially with the new sharpening slider, but it feels vague. I can't really feel the tires at the limit like I can in AC.
Loved Raceroom especially when they brought the MX5 into it. But. The numbers are awful. And that made the strength of field in each event absolutely unsustainable. I’m a typical low to average racer so being the tail end guy in a sea of far faster drivers just meant the game completely lost its appeal. Some of us cannot improve our talent level and getting whipped constantly just gets boring. So, I punish myself in other ways like paying a stupid fee to iracing where I can get crashed out on lap one by comparably ranked talentless individuals like myself.
We can always hope this new DTM content and graphics update brings new drivers into the multiplayer and proves your claim about "you will end up driving against the AI" wrong. The last time I've been driving Raceroom multiplayer, at least the F4, BMW i235 and MX5 races were very much active and had lots of clean, hard racing going on.
I play a lot of R3E as a jump&play experience against AI... on controller. But I found that racing against AI is really good IF you avoid adaptive difficulty. With Adaptive setting on, AI (at least with NSU's) cheats a lot in a really frustrating way.
I disagree a bit on the VR performance topic. Performance has improved a lot with the update, for VR even more noticeable I would say. Ofc you have to be reasonable with some settings (like MSAA/SSAA, reflections, motion blur etc.), like with every VR sim/game. : )
I'm gonna try to get this again, I would love to play a sports car game against the AI, AC AI is generally terrible, iRacing AI has had the temperature bug for years, I hate ACC force feedback, all I was left to play was F1 2020, but the physics there are pretty basic, although the AI is very good. So I should try this and see how it feels. I tried the free version a couple of years ago and it felt really lackluster so hopefully this time it will be better
I was massively addicted to the hotlap/leaderboard challenges in Raceroom for quite a while, was ranked 1st in the world at the Nordschliefe for almost every car category and I couldn't get enough of it... it felt like you really were up against some of the best drivers out there. But then KW decided to completely wipe the leaderboard whenever the cars had a minor update and that immediately ruined it for me. It felt like it was all for nothing and I packed in playing it completely after that. Not just that, but when they wiped the leaderboards they never really re-populated so that's when the game began to feel desolate and barren, like most people thought screw this I'm not doing that again.
I can see why they would wipe the leaderboard with updates but yes that's a great way to destroy the game for everyone. It's so important to promote competition in a sim but it's amazing how few titles can pull it off.
I mean they had to clean up the leaderboards because they changed the physics quite a bit and the times would be unbeatable after newer updates so I wouldn't call them “minor update”
Already had the sim for a number of years so for me alot of hours spent already. These updates are so way down the line that i have no real motivation to play more than I had already. But at least there was an update of some new features!
Yes, I wish some company NOT named KW would buy this IP and turn it into a modern ( with updated game engine, not just a fresh coat up reshade , tracks and cars) sim with a better pricing model.
Use some clever raytracing to give it a small overhaul that looks like a big overhaul, put it out as RaceRoom 2025 and sell it as a standalone game with all content older than 1 year for 30 bucks and sell content after that as DLC bundles. Also put it out on consoles => Big sim racing cash. The problem might be that the licensing deals in place wouldn't allow this repackaging with a new game title.
I would love to, but sadly, the Game breaks somehow. I run 21:9 3440x1440. But every time i want to change the Resolution from 4:3 (lel :D) and a really low Resolution, the Game snaps, cuts away the top an the bottom and i can't change anything anymore. Need to delete the File for the Graphics every time. I do run a Rift VR from time to time that likes to fvck around with games. But it is not connected because of that. Never had this issue with any other game on this System. R7600-RX6800-32 RAM (6000,CL30). System is quite fresh with Windows 10. Really weird. Does not matter if i choose Fullscreen or Boderless.
I really loved this title, but this huge graphics update is disappointing with very little noticeable change. There are also many bugs to go with it, including the inability to run certain tracks or cars. Your selected races don't always load and crash constantly.
When they showed who was in charge of the improvements to the rendering and graphics for this update is the guy who also works on physics, it was clear to me that they just need more people and funding. These devs are extremely talented but they need to stop being overworked or being forced to do something that isn't their main function for this game to truly evolve. rF2 is also over 10 years old, yet it looks and runs better than Raceroom. There must be something KW can do to bring the efficiency and visual fidelity needed for people to take this game more seriously. I love Raceroom and I have so much respect for its devs, but KW needs to put some real funding behind this project. This is too good of a platform to be left slowly dying.
The ffb mid corner look absent. I have tried many config but didn't manage to have the limit feeling in it. Like in Acc. Either strength is too high or I do not feel it...
Fliegerhorst Diepholz. Flee-gher-horst Deephollts -> A Flieger is a Flyer, someone who flies, a pilot (though you'd normally say Pilot in German too) and a horst is a nest of large birds (usually predator birds) -> A Fliegerhorst is a military airport where pilots are stationed. Diepholz is a small town south of Bremen. "Flieger" is also the lowest military rank in the German air force, the one you have when it's your first day in the military. Edit: And I bought the DLC day1. Love the new skybox toning of the tracks and am always amazed how fun R3E is, you can push the cars so abusively hard without it feeling like you play an arcade grippy F1 game nor an arcade'ish drift game.
Raceroom is great, but it's in a vicious cycle. TH-camrs say: it's great, but it doesn't have enough people. People don't join because youtubers are not making a compeling case. Raceroom stays with few players. Next update: youtubers say it's great, but lacks players. Repeat. I think they can only break the cycle when adding night races.
probably from streamers side ranked racing is the most interesting / dynamic thing... And honestly it is not taken on where/how it should/could be. So yeah... they can talk about updates, but the functionality of their main interest is not there and actual format (almost same since 2020) is not how a ranked thing should be. Even not as in iracing, a kind of use of the rating and reputation should be applied.
@@jorn-jorenjorenson5028Yes. It looks much better, and the performance is better. I just selected the VR preset, set the sharpening slider to 150, and set the autoexposure to 100. 👍

Tried the update and totally forgot i bought almost all the content last year. Proof sim racing causes brain damage. the real reason no ones playing it.
There is loads of people driving online, just not on ranked, league racing is the thing, just like it is with most sims no? Except Iracing. Raceroom suffers from the Forza and GT syndrom of people hopping on ranked servers and driving it like an arcade, making the racing quite frustrating, those who take R3E somewhat seriously dont touch ranked racing, as keeping a good safety rating is hopeless when you get constantly crashed into by said Forza/GT style gamers. Some should honestly stick to mario kart.
I like raceroom because it's one of the few sims with good gamepad support and also runs on my laptop fine. I don't wanna spend hundreds of dollars in gear just to be able to drive a pretend race car.
Still has quite a few people playing at times and race room is used at real world events and lans also used for lots of promotional stuff that is outside of the general online simracing space.
How can you judge that it is dead? There is more than online user numbers. Many people are still using RR, also quite a few very active communities. Sure, user base is far smaller than IR and the ranked races have dropped off some time ago. But still big enough for KW studios to bring out updates and content. They would not do it, if they wouldn't sell enough.
@simracer1256 I've been using an open but moderated server(s) for the last 3 years in RRE with almost 3000 race finishes (not wins as im an old n slow git) where the peaks are European evening times. Normally, the servers are 3/4 to full. Since the update release, things have gone mental. They will back off in a week or so but in my opinion, I don't see RRE as severely as you put it, dead. ❤️🏁

Every sim is less dynamic than RF2, there is nothing better for pure driving pleasure with DD wheel, AC is close second, AMS2 is the best entry into sim world, iracing best for competition. Raceroom is really good but literally has nothing that would beat other sims...
The improved graphics have accentuated the dullness of the FFB in R3E.
@gameboyterrorysta6307 Yeah, the cheating AI frustrated me to the point of completely stopping racing against it.
I also try RRR3 from time to time and despite DD I can't generate a sufficiently informative FFB.
Does not matter if i choose Fullscreen or Boderless.
i'd quite like try this update, but the servers have been down all morning for maintenance so i'll stick to being a lazy AMS2 vr driver.
Hi GM would you get better and more races on LFM ?
The tire model is just bad.
You came to the right channel, saying you'd wish R3E would feel more like ACC xD
I used to think that raceroom had blueish tit and iracing yellow, both were bit wrong, but we all see color bit differently
It still has more players than LMU...
Even without buying any of the cars or tracks you have to pay for to do anything, R3E still has more content than LMU
@@gomezthechimp1116 LMU is Dead Already
They Litteraly Charging you money for DLCS during the Game being in Beta
How put you wheel and pedals UHD ?
probably a simhub overlay?
@@MJFox78no its the normal in game one, binding a key to "input meter" will allow you to enable/disable it
Fliegerhorst Diepholz.
Raceroom VR video please
Just choose the VR preset, set the sharpening slider to 150, and set the autoexposure to 100. 👍
@@HDRGamingHub Cheers! I'll give that a go!

VR performance is still ass, at least non VR runs better, that's with a 4080S, 13700kf...
VR performance has improved massively with the update for me.
@@jorn-jorenjorenson5028Yes. It looks much better, and the performance is better. I just selected the VR preset, set the sharpening slider to 150, and set the autoexposure to 100. 👍
idk whose failt it is but RRE or hapticonnect but is rattling the hell out of my buttkicker. Im gonna have give it a break and trying again in six, maybe its sortrd by then
Tried the update and totally forgot i bought almost all the content last year.
I'm a coffee drinker myself . . . but I'll pretend its tea . . . just for you, bby.
Its really too bad that RR doesn't have constant ranked races running on a schedule.
They do but as soon as they run paid content it's hard to get higher player numbers.
AI is one of the best in the sims which doesn't require selling one of your kidneys to be able to afford it.
Is anyone running any leagues in RR??? 😢
Looking for a lazy AMS2 VR driver? 😂
I like raceroom because it's one of the few sims with good gamepad support and also runs on my laptop fine. I don't wanna spend hundreds of dollars in gear just to be able to drive a pretend race car.
rfactor 2 AI... all over the place.. wtf you on about willis.
I’ll take raceroom over Irenting any day of the week
It’s the most average sim racing game I’ve ever played, if it did anything exceptionally good or bad then at least it would have some character.
Performance is poor to be nice about it, was already but being heavier then other modern and better looking sims is just adding assault to injury
It's a dead sim. Utterly pointless bringing out new content for a dead sim
