He's been playing in his fortress since the beginning of time.
Maisky has perfect intonation and a very smooth sound. I like his Bach better than Ma's or even Rostropovich's.
I like the changing shots at 25 seconds in
The part that I most admire about this piece and the rest of his playing is the way he so cleanly executes this passing triple stops ... I know from experience that they are not easy!
wow i started to learn this on guitar and it was pretty hard i also play cello i cant imagine how hard it is on cello his playing is great
"And when my music sounds happy, it sounds like this."
P E R F E C T I O N
perfect
stand ovation
Epicness in instrument form.
I started playing cello when I was 13 and can almost play Bach- cello suite i- menuet. Its never too late to learn and if you have sufficient amount of music knowledge you can improve pretty quickly.
This song is sweettttt:)
So precise......look at his bow hand...the timing......he's not even looking at his note hand
+Jake Croom Watch how slowly he moves the bow. Amazing.
i'm just a guitar player, but that is some of the most impressive string playing i've ever seen.
i can't imagine how hard it would be to play on a guitar, let alone a huge cello.
amazing
Bravo!
omg i love the sound at 0:48 its epic
James Van De Mark started playing bass when he was 16 and now he teaches at Eastman. If you want to do it, do it now.
Jian Wang very good
this is a cool song.

@ThisIsMe113
hehe true, the same goes for Zimmerman and the piano! :)
this is really pretty! i play the oboe, but i always wanted to play cello or violin.OMG I love still doll!
lol, i kind of think its funny of how his hair moves when he does :DD
woah. amazing. i wan to learn how to play cello. if only my parents let me.
I like how the cello sounds but that was great man
Oh dear!
this is such level of performing, that we can't tell so obviously what is good or bad. It's a matter of taste. Some people love romantic Maisky's Bach, and some are impressed by Peiter Wispelwey, Anner Bylsma or Jaap Ter Linden, playing baroque style. Ancient Romans were saying, that: "de gustibus non est disputandum"
When I first discovered these recordings in high school, some curmudgeon replied to my comment saying that some day I would learn why my preference for Maisky's interpretation was wrong. This probably didn't happen too long after this now-ancient comment was made. And that dude was dead wrong. I've learned to appreciate more several other interpretations, but several of these interpretations still stir emotions in me like nobody else's will.
Beautiful, this captures the essence of the dance really well, the sound is very animated to the style =)
XD You just totally made my day with that phrase haha...
I love the tone quality and im going to get is the sheet music
Absolutely wonderful.
yes..you're right.. but I prefer for piano..
This guys rocks!!! He made the second song seem as easily as a C major!!!
I'm sure Bach would disagree, having written the suites for cello.
This guy's a fuckin badman
@ThisIsMe113 its as if his bow is floating
I like that! good playing but is better for piano with 2 voices..
This is amazing! The most ive ever done on a cello was Mary Had a Little Lamb at my school concert D':
I don't see how anyone could think for a second that I was actually serious. But most youtubers are ignorant mouth-breathers so I forgive the lot of you.
Cellist is spelled without an "h"
I think Le Cheviler has some too
Wait, Bach have two same suites (another bwv 995 for lute)?Yeah, every day is a school day. Please explain me,i dont understand there is original and there is transcription.

Don't be so silly! If you can apply yourself, you can learn. I began playing double bass last year, and have only been playing classical for about half a year, and depending on how the next few weeks go, I may study bass in school. Join orchestra at your school (I'm guessing you are in high school) next year and try it out, and don't think that you can't do something, especially not because you are too old! Just practice a bunch and don't give up. Oh, and play as much Bach as you can!
THUMBS UP FOR PLAYING BY EAR! WHOO:D
my friend can play gavotte on the guitar (:
he moves like a Robot.. but he's good nevertheless :))
6 personas son sordas...
Worry not about your grammar, for yours is much better than theirs. Heh, saying you're american doesn't mean much when you try to profess your english.
LOLOLOL
