I have a dog. Its a pitbull named Charlie. Once Charlie woke my mom up in the middle of the night, leading her to my room. As a Diabetic I have low and high blood sugar sometimes. My mom check my blood sugar and it was low for sleeping, my mom woke me up and told me. If it wasnt for my dog I would have had a seizure, its happened before and this is why my dog is AMAZE.

They don't age faster, they just have a shorter life span.
Their cells are less efficient at dividing than ours. This is contributed mostly from their faster heart beat.
gttp1111 hey I hate to be "that guy" but I don't think your suggestion makes total sense... if that were true, then smaller dogs (who have faster heartbeats) would die earlier than larger dogs. But this is not the case. (Smaller dogs have less of a hormone called insulin-like growth factor or IGF1, which causes both growth AND aging. There's an extremely interesting scientific article/review by Cynthia Kenyon regarding the discovery of the aging pathway if you want to know the details. I think she also did a TED talk if hard science isn't your thing.)
That being said, I don't have a better answer for why dogs' lifespans are shorter than those of humans. My guess is that it wasn't evolutionarily advantageous for the wolves that would have eventually evolved to be dogs to live much longer after they became reproductively incapable. Old wolf/dog ancestors who couldn't reproduce would put strain on the rest of their pack and ultimately reduce the reproductive fitness of the family line. So, perhaps wolves and dogs die earlier than we do because their ancestors were making way for their children to take over.
That's just a guess though.

The debate of whether cats or dogs is better, actually depends on the person. Or the owner. If you don't stay at home very often you should consider getting a cat, but if you work at home or someone's at the house often then you should maybe get a dog. A therapy dog is good if someone has any physical or mental disabilities, same with cats for people who have anxiety or depression, and stuff like that. I don't like it when people argue about which is better, because it's the person, who decides which is better, because of their experience.

The day my grandpa died, I wasn't at home all day. When I come I started to cry and i sat in the floor, my dog is a old poodle he is a little big stressful but that day he listened to me crying and was the most beautiful dog ever!!! By the time my dog was 6, she was bilingual, sat down in the car like a regular person (also had the seatbelt on-- I did that) would actually listen to anything I said, and knew how to count.

When I lived with my parents my brother and I shared a room, and sometimes even when my brother wasn’t in the room, my dog absolutely refused to sleep in the other bed. So much room yet he just HAS to sleep next to me 😂

She wasn't socialized properly when she was a pup (her 1st person worked long hours and simply left her on her own, outside in a rural area) and is very needy. Her rather frantic effort to always keep her beloved people near her translates into some quite dense behaviour. But she's just the most loving little thing...

I'm proud I have a poodle thats older than me. its wise and smart.
My dogs smelled my cancer. My dog Shadow liked me and everything but my dog Reilly was like my main man, was like my best friend. But about one month before I was diagnosed my bogs acted weird. Shadow started fallowing me around (Like my shadow) never wanted to leave my side and was always wanting to be by me. Reilly on the other hand didn't want anything to do with me, He wouldn't let me touch him, wouldn't be in the same room as me, wouldn't cuddle me anymore. I have to say it was really eyeopening, now I know which dog truly loves me and is truly loyal.

Recently (within the past few years) I had to put down both of my childhood dogs. The first one 2 weeks after I got home from drug rehab and his brother sadly passed from a massive stroke. He passed away laying in his brothers bed as if he was just ready to go at any moment and he finally decided 3:00 in the afternoon is the time. A few months after I got a new dog but she has completely latched onto me. My old dogs loved me but I was never their sole person. But with the dog I got after has latched onto me so hard I truly consider her my daughter. I’ve always wondered what made her think of me as her person. She saved me from several suicide attempts, drug relapses, over all depression, so it’s easy for me to figure out why I’m so latched onto her. But I never knew what I did for her to latch onto me as I’m not the one who feeds her, cleans up her poop, or even the one who the dog was for. I’ve just always wondered what it is about me that she’s completely latched Onto

my dog is very smart
once me and my friends were playing outside and we were accrosed the street kinda in the end of the coldasac. my parents couldn't watch him because thar were working in the addic. the doors wer open because the gradge door was broken. spot my dogs name he ran out! and he didn't go in the road he waked on the side walk and found us. we were playing hide and seek and I peeked to see if they were close and I sall a dog IT WAS SPOT I screemed his name me and my buddy's came to see why i was screeming and they sall spot and helped me get him. they even complemented him saying he's really smart!
