Jahlil Okafor - Postup Powerhouse

  • Jahlil Okafor grew up idolizing Tim Duncan, and the Big Fundamental’s influence is readily apparent when you watch the former Blue Devil. The rook has moves. Tons of 'em. To the point that David Robinson (2x NBA Champion, MVP in 1995), compared the two when Okafor was still playing in Durham. That’s high praise considering the Admiral was Timmy’s mentor and longtime teammate.
    Big Jah has the unenviable task of being compared to one of the greatest players of all time, while also playing for the team that has lost the most in NBA history (the streak from earlier this season). He’s also been dealing with a few off-court incidents. Long story short, it’s been less than ideal for the big man.
    The good news is that Jahlil had an all-time great coach defending his character. If Mike Krzyzewski says this guy is “one of the greatest kids ever,” then we should be patient with him. The young fella’s hands might just be big enough that he can help turn Philly’s fortunes around. After all, he’s not even half a season into his NBA career yet, but he’s already impressed enough to warrant a video.
    This video isn’t entirely about post play. The Chicago native has such a polished offensive game for a young big man, that it’s hard to capture everything in one video. What I did want to do was showcase his range, surprising handle, and fantastic footwork. Please enjoy the myriad moves of one Jahlil Okafor.

    This NBA, where teams all want to play the same, guys like Okafor are a forgotten commodity. Taking a closer look at his game he can still provide valuable minutes as an impact player. Great motor, great hands can shoot but his greatest asset is his post game. Teams shouldn’t try to keep up with the run and gun style and should look to slow the game down. Keeping it close down the stretch of games it’s better to have a reliable post player than to live and die by the 3-in my opinion

    • @cyruswang9354

      Opposite of an impact player. Good per minute scoring, horrendous team offence, low motor, embarassing defender, doesn’t set good screens doesn’t roll hard, doesn’t hustle, doesn’t fight for position without the ball, can’t pass out of the post, extremely slow to get into actions, high turnover. I honestly don’t think you can have a .500 team with him getting 20 touches a game.

    • @seanjones2090
      @seanjones2090 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe we got someone better. Al Horford isn't the post up player Jahlil is, but he is a much better shooter and passer. And Horford is by far the better defender. Okafor will likely have much better individual stats when all is said and done though.

    • @mdmcdd1117
      @mdmcdd1117 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean Jones might pair them up together. Al is better now, yes, but consider the fact that Okafor was a 19/20 yr old that was 16 pts, 8 reb, and 1 blk per game. By 25, he will be 20+, 10, and 2.

    • @seanjones2090
      @seanjones2090 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Christopher David D. That's pretty much what I just said. Al is better now, but Okafor will prgress into something great. Problem is, the Celtics would have to give up too much for him and possibly jeopardizing their future. Trading for Nerlens is a safer and more idealistic trade for both teams. Nerlens also happens to be a Boston native, and already one of the better defensive centers in eague.

    • @mdmcdd1117
      @mdmcdd1117 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean Jones Not that much for Okafor. The Celtics could have had him for Jaylen Brown, but opted to keep 3rd pick. Nerlens fits Celtics better though.

    If he continues to get better in the low post and somehow learns to play pick and roll defense and pass out of the double teams in the paint then he will have a great career.

      He did good tonight. Watch I bet he will win rookie of the month since he will be starting the rest of the season. When he gets consistent minutes he's been really good

      +vman armand Based on very inconsistent play on offense and not giving effort much on D to this point.

    Laker Fans are still crying they didn't get Okafor. I feel bad for Jahlil I wouldn't want to play for Philly. give him 2 more years there and he will leave or demand a trade. too big of a talent to be stuck in a small market environment

    I see Hakeem Olajuwon - offensively speaking.
    Extraordinary offensive IQ. Average to low defensive IQ.
    I see an All-Star.
