I disagree on asking for an informational interview too early. Time is of the essence, but these are great topics for informational interview questions and very useful to me. Thanks.
I wish I saw this before I sent messages containing EVERYTHING on the "mistakes" list for interesting individuals I would love to do an informational interview with. Or even just to chat with!
Great video, a friend of mine contacted me because a friend of his is looking for someone for an upcoming role, I emailed my friend my resume who in turn forwarded it the hiring manager. Two days later, i was in the process of emailing my friends contact when I received an email from the recruiter to setup a informational interview with him not my contact - who is the hiring manager. I was surprised to hear from the recruiter and not from the hiring manager..any suggestions on how to connecting to the hiring manager?
Hey ! I’ve heard many times that informational interviews are a great way to network - and networking is all about building relationships over time. Any ideas on how to build relationships AFTER the informational interview? Thanks
Hi - great question! You definitely want to follow up after the informational interview, thank the person for their time, and, depending on how the interview went, keep in contact with the person if you see jobs come up within the company or positions come up where the person can connect you with insiders. Does this make sense?
Hi Isaiah, just found your channel and I LOVE it. I’m an MD MSc wanting to transition to an MSL role. How do you actually ask for the referral? Or should you not ask and wait for your contact to bring it up?

@@CheekyScientist I applied them this afternoon. Thanks for the reminder to not make it an interrogation. I had a list of questions printed that I didn't use lol

Just note that taking time to establish rapport does make it more likely for someone to provide the interview. Thanks for watching!

This is so underrated.
You do not need to build a relationship before you ask for informational interview cold / calling or message is completely acceptable.
