How do you make these pens with the pictures engraved in them I know how mosaics made made but I have no clue how these ones are done please?

My guess as to how these pins are made is a machine tool called a Wire Electrical Discharge Machine (Wire EDM). It uses a brass wire to cut complex shapes in steel, using the electrical arc.
New Warrior Poet Society knife...? Looking forward to seeing that.
Are these done on EDM? Or a very small bit on a 5 axis cnc?

My best guess is the custom part of the pins is formed by extrusion, any other method I know of would either be too cost prohibitive or slow.
