Tiguan R line premium is a great value, a steal basically compared to the Q5 but the only car you should consider if you are going Q5 is the SQ5. That car is a monster. If you can't afford the SQ5 but want one of these go top of the line VW and save the $.
I traded my SQ5 for a BMW X3…big mistake, but changing out those 21” tires every 10k miles really made me mad. I want an Audi again but don’t think I will do the S because of the tire issue.
@@TheRealJayson3 that’s not true. Tiguan is 4.4m but Q5 is like 4.6m. Q3 is 4.4m as well. You should not ignore the fact that Tiguan being reviewed here is the standard wheel base version, unlike the North American model which is long wheel base version (4.7m)
After 2 high spec Tiguans I am just about to order a Q5. It’s is more expensive but there’s heavier depreciation with the Tiguan and it will end up only a few £ more per month. The Audi interior is much nicer (don’t like the VW new seat colours nor the move to virtually no physical switches Audi has got this right (so far!)).Audi also has very mild hybrid to help soften the start/stop and take some harshness away from the DSG. Mercedes GLB would have been my second choice.
I wish that there is Tiguan TDI at USA. That is why I had to buy gasoline version of Tiguan 4 Motion. And what a disappointment! And don’t get me wrong...This is my 3rd vehicle from VW since 2010. I love VW....For instance I own Jetta TDI that was made more then 70% in Germany and it really makes a difference. Tiguan that is made in MEXICO feels light, underpowered, problem with automatic shifting but VW dealer refuses to acknowledge, and let me tell you; I was for most of of my professional career a professional driver. And in regards of my more then 20 year of professional experience, for sure I know a little bit about cars. For instance I have only 32000 km on the Tiguan odometer and already problem with engine mounts, already changed water pump, and previously mentioned problem with automatic shifting (still not resolved) horrible experience... I am more then sure that these are not the problems that Tiguan made in Europe has. Thank you for your great report , I do envy EU buyers. Good luck with awesome choices you got over there...the VW dealerships in EU, take their customers more seriously then here in US...
I Tried them both. The Q5 wins easily. clearly the Q5 is a higher segment, but Ifind it aesthetically boring. talkin about the exterior I still like tiguan the most. ..but sorry guys but if you try the two car and think about the quality of the drive experience there is no comparison.
Not a fair comparison… both are on different platform. And Audi has much superior sound deadning and much improved interior build quality. Tiguan is total cattle class. It’s even inferior than Passat
