These videos you have done are brilliant
I painted our showman’s living wagon 8 years ago and I’m ready to have another go.
We are using Williamson’s transpeed system.

John, That was a very good tip about riveted windows prone to leaking, due to not being able to re-tighten later. Also I have seen the pop rivets drawing down with so much force the edge of aluminum window frame distorts and gets wavy. How right you are about silicone sealant being almost impossible to remove completely.

Hi KellyYou are right, the system works for pretty much all your painting needs, just be careful caravans are often aluminum and the prep needs to reflect that,Regards John

Hi john . Loving your videos . What foam rollers are you using . Many of the ones I have used in the past the foam parts company from the plastic sleeve when using enamels

    Hi.
I have noticed that a few boats are built of aluminium not steel. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

I know this is a silly question, but i will ask anyway. Is this method, and paint suitable for painting caravans? i kind of guess , yes. But just to be sure lol

Quick off topic question John, hope you could answer it. Why, is there White over Red bands painted at the stern. Is there a reason or is it just tradition.
    Great tips BTW thanks.

Hi Terry, these are tunnel bands - originally painted on the stern to help other boats distinguish bow from stern in dark tunnels. As to why white over red - opinion seems to be that this configuration is simply tradition.

With the boat sitting in the water does that cause the paint problems.

No it's fine the foam around the boat stops the humidity by cutting down the surface area, it's better in some ways as its easier to control , dry docks can be very damp and more difficult to manage with moisture coming from old brickwork

Thanks John I thought its something you would have to look at.
And I agree with your point of view about a dry dock
They have a lot of damp in them from moisture in the brick work to leaking gates and pumps having to work.
I guess the perfect solution would be to take the boat out of the water completely and move it into a paint shed.

True but you require a certain amount of humidity for paint to dry properly believe it or not it can be to dry! This does depend on the paint but most air drying paints need some moisture
Thank you for your kind words

What make of paint are you using John? I am about to start painting my coach which is partly aluminium and partly fibreglass. A mate of mine wants to paint it two-pack, this will mean that I will not be able to do it myself. What is your advice on this? Dave.
