    You got me! I found your channel very helpful and lots of tips, ideas and everything in between about home/house building. I admire you for being a very hands on “man/guy when it comes to all that has to be done inside/outside the house. Thank you as well for sharing the name of companies to consider for all these house maintenance and what not. Your channel will help me decide what’s best for my own “ soon condo” project in the Philippines. Thanks for sharing and explaining really well. Watching from Jacksonville Florida USA 🇵🇭🇺🇸

    There’s also quartzite as an option for countertop. It’s a natural stone that has the delicate veining of a marble. It looks like the one you use in your kitchen is Calacatta.

    • @philindeblanc
      @philindeblanc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, quartzite is a natural stone and has some beautiful options. I would use either granite or quartzite...not a man made product with resins and recycled materials. Also the natural stones can be polished or resurfaced or honed. Quartz comes in honed finish, but it is much harder to maintain. Leathered finish of natural stones are also a great option. Eveyone has their reasoning for the choices they make. As long as the buyer is happy, then its all that matters. But know the facts.

    This actually helps. My parents ask me to design their dream house (since I'm a second year archi student) to be built in our province in Mindoro, but as a student I recommend them to hire an architect that can help them with the proper designs. The only thing I can do is recommend materials and other positioning of the house in regards of the nat'l bldg code, and your videos actually help me by adding more knowledge about building materials. Thank you Engineer!

      This is a super late reply to your post and you’ve probably already built your home, lol. But if you haven’t, one of my good friends (whose kitchen has been featured in a home magazine, to give you an idea of her design skills), always told me to choose hardware that feels good to the touch. She said “don’t skimp on anything you touch often. Countertops, hardware, doorknobs, etc”. As far as faucets, we chose a waterfall style for our bathrooms, I think it’s Moen or something like that. Gorgeous and modern.

    What about stainless steel?
    As a chef, I love the word “abuse” when discussing kitchen options. If the thing can stand up long-term to the abuse of a busy hectic service or incompetent management of hiring unqualified cooking staff (I’ve caught people opening a ring-pull can with a 22cm chef knife on several occasions!), then the thing is essential! FYI Quartz will chip if you accidentally miscalculate a swinging meat tenderiser. ;-)
    Great vid! Thanks!
