Happy Holidays, Merry Xmas everyone! Thank you for everything you do. I couldn't do it without all of your support! Thank you so much! =) I will try to get another video out next week if all goes well. Stay tuned! "We're Getting There!" =) 😎😎😎🎅🎅🎅
Back to you my friend. This episode reminds me of Mike Fn’s repairs on his ‘54 and even the bucket truck. You are killing it on this one and cooking with grease! Merry Christmas to you and yours.
"TEXAS", your channel is more about how if you have desire and you're not scared, you can get necessary skills by applying one self to the tasks involved in welding and metal fabrication...it's all about production aided by the right tools and TIME, tanks for sharing
You keep saying you are practicing, and a novice. But after this difficult and tedious portion, give yourself a major promotion. Good work, I like following your progress.
Thank you for showing "the rest of us," that with a little fore thought and patience, good repairs can be done at home and at a lower cost charged by some who call themselves professional auto restorers
I’ve seen that window repair several times, man what you do is time consuming. About myself, bought a 73. Super beetle, quite driving it in 89, now got it restored, all original parts still intact. Got a 70. Beetle owned since 86. Any way I watch what you do, know you went to Georgia and drug it out of a field. I’ve traced you up in the Connecticut area, don’t know for sure. You’re probably one of the best fabricators I’ve ever seen. Enough of my rant I’m outta here.
I was watching another TH-cam channel where they were working on a VW bug. After the guy welds, he was using a technique called Backlighting where he shines a light behind his welding to find the pinholes and welds them to prevent moisture from in behind his work so it don’t rust again.
Nice job, only recommendation is to cover up the glass. The grinding sheetmetal and welding close by leaves makes on the glass that you cannot remove. Just something to be consider if you are going house the glass on the quarter window.
If you had to buy that shrinking/stretching machine for just this one job, it would have been worth it. Would have a nightmare without it! Not that it was easy with it. Brilliant job and a very merry Christmas to you and yours. 👌
I love you CT, I think you're brilliant mate. Your catchphrase has to be "We're getting there", as you say that so much :) I've been thoroughly obsessed with these old VW's for over 30 years now but until I saw your videos I never wanted to restore one like this - you've made me think maybe I could do it after all. You're an inspiration mate, keep it up. We're getting there!😃
I just got myself a 71 bug and need some metal work and watching these videos make me want get there as well. No experience but ima get there. 😂😂You’re giving me the confidence to go at It myself. Love it 💯💯
Great work CT your welding and fabrication skills have come such a long way since you started . What an inspiration to us all . Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄🥳🥂🍾
Hey CT, it’s Guy from OZ, wanted to wish you and your family a MERRY CHRISTMAS. Nearly 2 hours into Christmas here in Australia. Love the progress on the Beetle. Take care, stay safe and enjoy the day. Going to be just over 90 Fahrenheit here today. Typical Aussie Christmas. Cheers, Guy.
Here you go, metal fabrication, which is a lot of fun.. 😉 Sometimes you can get better off if you cut a bit larger piece, the key to lower your frustration with reaching into confined spaces is to plan, cut and weld a line, which is easily accessible and possibly flat, so finishing is also easier. Experience brings you the success and shorter times. Always refer to original cutoffs, if you can, to see the structure. Cheers, Mr. CT, keep on and Merry Christmas to you too. Don't forget to spend a bit of time in family though! 😇
Hi, thank you so much for this video! I was struggling with the exact same rust damage for my bug project. Now I know what needs to be where and am able to start to redo the frame. Many many thanks! Love to see how your bug will look like when you are done. Stay aircooled ;-)
Você é muito bom no que faz. Tem paciência e o que eu acho ótimo são as suas ferramentas. Parabéns. You´re great at what you do. You´re patient. And what I find great are the tools that you use.Congratulations.
CT, dude your impressing me on just how far you have come with your skills. Looking more and more like a Pro ! Mike from MikeFN garage would be proud 😎 PS; don’t forget to put the drain hole in 🤔
Man u are getting that metal work down!!!! I can't believe how well that bug is looking. Keep your videos rolling I enjoy them profusely. Merry Christmas.
Meu amigo isso se pode chamar-se uma verdadeira obra de arte verdadeiramente o que você está fazendo aí meu amigo essa reconstrução desse belíssimo carro tenho certeza que vai ficar muito bom parabéns
This turned out great! This was a perfect opportunity for a couple of vise grips to hold that channel tight. Just a suggestion for similar areas. Keep it up you’re doing amazing work!
Here in Italy I also worked as a coachbuilder when I was young, and if I had done a job like this, they would have said it was barely acceptable. I have some experience working on vintage bodywork, having also worked on Alfa Romeo bodies which are notoriously cars that rust easily. Next time when you work on the pillars of a Voks Wagen, remember that the weldings must be done "String" and not by points. A better rigidity and durability of the assembled piece is obtained and requires less filler.
Awesome repair quite a lot of things going on with this type of repair it's not a easy job, once you start breaking it down a in to smaller element's like you have done it makes it a bit easier. The paint/rust has got a nice look to it.

I've been watching your videos since you began and you've definitely grown your skill set.
Hey mate don't forget the trick where you shine your flashlight from behind the area you're working on, to easily make out any tiny pin-holes. 👍
Nice work! The shrinker sure made that easier.
Thanks Jamie! Yes that thing is awesome! =) 👍
Vice grips are useful for holding parts together when needed.
