    Only fluid? dont miss the brake fluid every 2 or 3 years and if the gen2 is like the gen1 check and top up the gearbox oil at 40000km (I assume it has a single stage gearbox).

    Only thing I would add to that is a seat belt check. Pull them out, slowly to their fullest extent check the webbing to ensure there are no cuts or frays. Allow them to retract fully. Clip them into their buckle to make sure they are secure and pull sharply to ensure the inertia reels lock.

    I've got a 2012 and I swear my ball joints are worn at 60k miles. I also have the infamous squeak when cold over bumps. I believe it's some type of subframe bushing that can't be accessed without pulling out the motor or something silly.

    Services on my ICE vehicle include checks on suspension and steering components for wear and damage, air-con re-gas at 2 yr intervals, brake fluid change at 2 yr intervals.
    I anticipate EV has similar needs.

    • @gzcwnk
      @gzcwnk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air con should not need topping up, check yes.

    why did you not include direct line to hevra in description as well as the likely cost range

    Do they ever check power steering or suspension system in a major EV service?

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes , most power steering is now electronic , and a visual check of suspension is also carried out.

      @@JonathanPorterfield thanks Jonathan. It's there any lubricant in the power steering system? Just wondering as my EV steering creaks like hell when it's cold! 80k miles on the clock..

    Do you know which tool was used for the TPMS (tire pressure)?

    • @0e32
      @0e32 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No tool is needed ..just adjust tire pressure to the correct psi and press reset on the display at the dashboard and go for a testride faster than 25 Km/h.

  • @ybeev3409
    @ybeev3409 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jonathan interesting video. You mentioned 40 PSI is "what you like". On my 2018 Tekna Nissan recommends 36 PSI your wheels look the same as mine which are 215/50/R17. I was just wondering why you like the higher PSI and if this causes any uneven tire wear.

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Less rolling resistance at 40psi , means more miles per kWh , ive never seen uneven wear.

    I was looking a nissan service schedule girvyge leaf 7500 miles or 6 months . I suprised at the rotating tyres every 6 month my last 5 car have never had rotate tyres and wheels in fact they say not to. I wonder if this mid just an excuse to keep work flowing into the dealer as s six month 7500 service is excessive

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Service intervals in uk for the Leaf are 12 months or 18,000 miles !

    I was surprised to see the lug nuts tightened in a circular rather than a star pattern. The 12-volt battery should be load tested periodically because if it dies the car won't start up in spite of the traction battery being fully charged.

    Great video Jonathan. If this is what’s involved in a service, what is there to do on an mot? Would be good if the two were combined (if the price was low enough).

      Unnecessary changing of brake fluid is another main stealer scam. And bad for the environment. Just buy a 'brake fluid tester' (search eBay) for £5 and test the fluid yourself. Change only if required.

    I thought it had to be done at a Nissan Garage to maintain the warranty. I must be wrong.

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As long as the VAT registered garage carries out the Nissan service schedule, then no warranty is invalid. A europe wide ruling 20 years ago also gives non franchised garages the right to service vehicles of any make ,as long as they follow the manufactures guidelines and use approved parts ,then no warranty is voided.
