They said it could never be done because it would require a computer inside the adapter. Turns out, there are plenty of brilliant people in the world so the tiny computer is not impossible.
I commissioned the CCS1 version for USA CHAdeMO vehicles and am testing it now near Seattle. Not ready for sale yet, but the same quality construction as this CCS2 version.
Would love to know how it's going. Any estimate on when the final US model will be ready to sell? We're also in the Seattle area. Just bought a 2022 Nissan Leaf S+. Also have a 2024 SV+ and a 2013 SV in our family. We would L O V E to have adaptors. Thanks for sharing info.
At least here in the US, the South Korean EVs first arrived with CHAdeMO and, after a few years, they switch to CCS. I'm going to assume the same thing happened in Europe over the course of the past decade.
I just dropped in to say that we deliver from our online store to all over the Europe, not only to Finland. The first pre-order is open until Friday of this week. So early birds, be early! Great job Dala!
Could one say that your car has "turned over a new Leaf?" I have never needed to use one of these; my ZE0 stays in town, but I'm sure glad to see the thing has been developed to help us CHAdeMO users. Sure would also love to have V2H charging for blackouts...we get those a lot around here. CHAdeMO was designed with that in mind, but I've never seen any OTS products that do it.
Interesting that the minimum order for this adapter is two units. This is going to change though. Even the price of $1,000 is going to change. We're not in the income bracket to afford $40K+ for a new EV but the idea of a $7,000 carefully chosen second hand Leaf is very appealing and factoring in the price of the adapter is a reasonable option.
The charger station itself will have them eventually. Like all things EV its a positive process progressing, lots of things can improve no reason they wont
@@geiiger I'm not sure - if charging stations wanted to support chademo they could have it already. A pricy adaptor is great for a leaf owner, but makes little sense for a charging station to me. Still, super happy it exists, makes a second hand leaf a lot more appealing :)
I hope they are some other company will do something similar for the US with Chademo to CCS and or the coming NACS/J3400. The price is pretty steep at the moment but maybe with more iterations and some competition it can be reduced. Till then your idea of sharing an adapter makes a lot of sense. PS I would like to see Tesla Bjorn do a test with it. He's apparently after a Kia Soul EV as his press car shuttle and could make good use of it in the Winter months.
Original Teslas could charge off Chademo with adapters and not CCS plugs. I wonder if the original Teslas used some Chademo logic or communication protocols. If so, the current Tesla charging infrastructure might be easily adaptable to Chademo vehicles. The only knock here is that really the only Chademo vehicles of any number in the US are Nissal Leafs and they charge pretty slow.
Tesla will never allow a kludge like that on the Supercharger network. The CCS1 to NACS adapter that will be offered by the legacy automakers automakers will be made by Tesla, that means they can guarantee that they won't damage the Superchargers. The CCS companies probably can't control what's plugged into their networks so you might be able to get away using one of those although if you damage a charger with it you can expect to hear from their lawyers because they forbid the use of unauthorized adapters.
I purchased a CCS1 version today. I hope it works. They asked if I had seen the Dala video and if that how I found them. Yes. I asked for the Dala discount. Turns out it is 0%. Next time negotiate a discount for all of the referrals this video should generate:-). I am looking forward to driving a little faster vs. having to hypermile to the next, distant, Chademo charger. Thanks.
Can you please please make a video at some point about your experience on how the whole process worked for you? That would be so great. Purchase, usage experience, problems etc. I'll try to follow you if it is possible to follow your account. 👏
@@martijnkosters9024 actually since 2020 Zoe’s have had CCS2 ports. My daughter has a 2022 ZE.50 equipped with such. Happily charges on all CCS2 public charge points. Even Tesla Superchargers here in the UK
@seansimpson7506 dang. You Britishers get all the good stuff. Meanwhile, EVs are just ridiculed in the US. Glad to see the "North American Charging Standard" (Tesla) being widely adopted here though. It should make all the difference in reassuring (those who can afford new) adopters. There will still always be older vehicles, but I imagine there will be retrofitters who will adapt older vehicles to NACS (it's mainly just a communications protocol issue)
Looking forward to more videos of people testing these in different countries. Good to extend working life of older EVs, and a bonus for people who can't charge at home on AC.
yes, the Leaf with CHAdeMO is still a 'new EV' according to Nissan in 2024.. and still available to buy new. Don't understand why they haven't given it a bigger refresh really.

Hi Dala, that's awesome! You should make a video showing the inside of it, I'm curious how they implemented it. We always suspected it would need an internal power source to correctly initialise the two standards since there's no power available until charging starts - it's great to see that a company has actually put in the resources to figure this out. Only problem for now is that it costs €1500. I will probably buy one eventually, but I think I will wait for the price to drop before I do. I'm hoping it'll be under €500 at some point.
There are already resellers and alternative adapters, it’s insane how fast this moves. Best price I’ve seen today was 750€. I bet they will be available even cheaper soon…
@@Hans-gb4mv and CCS2, at that. I am seeing this posted a lot in the US, where it is currently worthless. When the CCS1 version comes out, it will be big news in the US.
Because Dala is literally one of a handful of people in the world outside of China to beat test these prototypes. The story will likely get mentioned after this video and/or Inna few months if volume sales start to take off.
@@Hans-gb4mv Well, yes, there are actually some astute US reviewers who will take note. But it is true that we (at least I) live in a land where it's going to be little more than page 6 news for most, even though we technically still have a CHAdeMO car (the Leaf) still in production. I'll gladly eat my words if I'm wrong.
If it works consistently and doesn't develop a fault and one day melt/catch fire mid-charge, then this is a kind of miracle. For me, I would like to see some long term testing. I would only need it on long journeys, and while expensive I think worth it to enable convenient use of CCS...
What's your battery life at? Still 100%? I ask, because I only used the "black port" for my trip when I moved from San Antonio to near Baltimore. I use the slowest charge now in my home, using a standard 115v outlet. I've read many times that avoiding fast charging, and limiting charge to 85% extends the battery life. I'd like an idea of what to expect. =)
@@AddariaLightfingers I'm probably not a typical user. I maybe do 5-6000 miles per year. Mainly short journeys, around 10-20 miles. Think the life is around 85%. The only downside is that I live close to the sea and so the rust is a massive issue, which means it probably won't be worth putting in a new battery in an otherwise sound vehicle. I probably could have done a lot more over the years to address the rust, but life always gets in the way. I'm hoping to get another 3-4 years out of it.
Dala your enthusiasm and determination is commendable 🎉 I don’t own a Leaf but one thing that has put me off is Chademo. Next thing, do these LFP Leaf replacement packs work in reality? An affordable replacement battery pathway combined with an adapter would give the Leaf fleet a lifetime extension for sure! It has always struck me that the Leaf with its simple battery design was designed to have somewhat consumable batteries over its lifetime.
Let's hope someone can bring an LFP pack to market! However in the Nordic countries, there are heaps of salvage 40/62kWh packs to purchase. But always good to have options!
@@mastarceEVs enhanced stopped updating on the progress years ago... so no hope there sadly. Though yes there are already a few aftermarket CATL battery packs from China already being bought and used around the world. They even offer a whopping 77kwh battery for the Leaf 😂
The proper solution would be for Nissan to provide a CCS replacement service for their charge system. i.e. rip out the type 2 / chademo subsystem and replace with a unified CCS system. I bet it's eminently doable even if it cost a grand or something to provide as a service. It would be a permanent solution and safer than some hulking adapter sold from China.
This. Plus, it would operate within the terms of service of mainstream DCFC networks (which state that incidents involving these types of adapters would put you in legal peril)
I’m chatting through emails with the company now because of your video. I live in Orlando Florida and only one chadamo is working in the closest 5 counties, I hope to have one in the next two months to play with and see if it works
Hey, 2019 leaf owner in the North East here if you could reply with an update on how your purchase went and your experience I’d appreciate it before deciding to pull the trigger on this big purchase
I had accepted that this will not arrive before I sell my ChaDeMo car as the next one is most likely going to have a CCS port. That said I actually like ChaDeMo better, from my experience it has less handshake issues and I’ve used the fast chargers hundreds of times over the past years. Two things worry me, though: 1) in winter the thick charging cable is very stiff and puts a lot of stress on the charging port as is, this adapter is really long and not flexible, which makes the mechanical advantage of the cable pulling sideways on the charge port even more of an issue. This is an even bigger problem for cars that don’t have the port on the front, but in the rear side instead as the cable is sometimes barely able to reach and is under tension even without the long adapter. And 2) a lot of the chargers I use every day have really short handshake time, once authorised You have to either already be plugged in or need to plug the cable in within x seconds (this is a problem with chargers that have the connectos locked to the station and the lock only disengages when You authorise charging). The need to plug the cable in to an adapter, press start and then connect it to the car doubles the handshake procedure time.
I wanted to buy a used leaf, but as you say 90%+ is CCS, and the chademo often broken or occupied. One could even watch locations with 4 Tripple chargers beeing modified to ccs only. The EV community really has been waiting for this, becuase there are lots of still good leafs that were suddenly useless. Mayve there will even a version, that can be built into the car, replacing the whole socket. thanks for sharing.
Yeah have been looking at the Leaf here in Scandinavia also, but it seems Nissan have chosen the worst of both worlds. ChaDeMo, the standard that only gets fewer public fast chargers every day because old ChaDeMo capable chargers are replaced by CCS2 only and only single phase meaning max 3.6KW at home charging (Here we have 3 phase 16A so 11KW on 3 phase, but the Leaf does not support it).
Hi @DalasEVRepair. For a lot of people I think a conversion is still a better option. Sure, not for average cunsumers like mom and pop. But for tinkers/DIYs like you and me, I think conversion is the better option. Is this something you have planned to feature any content around on your channel (in respect of your business). Thanks.
Thank you Dala, for sharing such excellent news! I'm located in North America, so will wait until a NACS/J3400 to CHAdeMo Adapter becomes available. Or, a CCS-Type1 to CHAdeMo Adapter (but I'm not expecting CCS-Type1 to be maintain beyond the next 2-4 years)
Some charge networks don't allow adaptors. Assuming these use fixed MAC addresses in their PLC modems, they could potentially end up being blacklisted & rendered useless.
I guess you will be able to update it via USB. But in reality are they likely to ever find out? How many people with Tesla chademo adapters have had them banned?
@Dragon26112 Well obviously safety is paramount. But it's a terms and conditions question really and I can't really see them changing this if we have adapters or not. I really don't think they included this in the terms and conditions to stop professional adapters but to stop DIYers making sketchy home made cable extensions/adapters. Besides 99.9% of people won't ever go on the website of the charge network and read the terms of service anyway. I suspect like the Tesla ones it will be a non issue.
From the (adapter) suppliers point of view, what would be the downside to them randomly presenting a new MAC at every connection? How would the charge network detect that?
Maybe they could have adaptor hire Vending machine that requires credit card deposit, and adaptor is returned after use. Place the vending machines at charging stations.
To say it's a bit pricey is an understatement. $1000. And I think it would have to allow the cable to lock to it for me to buy one. But thanks for the continued excellent work. Cheers
This is fantastic. All we need now is for some enterprising company to figure out a way to build one of these into the car itself, like a CCS conversion kit. That could add significant value to used Leafs.
@@1973Hogespecially given the thermal battery management mis-givings of the early LEAFs. But I acknowledge it’s still the early adopter’s era for future proof advance EVs (800v architecture , bespoke EV chassis, OTA updates to firmware, Plug and Charge capability, high peak charging rates and 300+ miles range) so these EV are not yet available to the person on UK average salary. So extending the practicality and appeal of budget choice older LEAFs with this adapter could be a good thing for certain case needs.
Amazing. We just got rid of our Kia Soul EV(US) in favor of a more modern CCS car because it was Chademo and there's barely any chademo infrastructure remaining as most major charging networks are phasing it out. this is a game changer
New Zealand still has many cars coming from Japan, so we have between 50% or 33% of the connectors for CHAdeMO at all public DC locations (except Tesla stations). But I have seen some places where the new installs have some 100kW+ CCS and then some 25kW CHAdeMO/CCS dispensers to the side for people with older cars, or for people who are staying for longer. I would get an adapter like that if I start finding places with no CHAdeMO. As long as there are some 25kW CHAdeMO dispensers available that would be ok for my Leaf.
Brilliant idea, looking forward to seeing these for sale. As you said Sir, it will make life so much easier for leaf owners, I'm surprised Nissan aren't selling something similar, the only thing about my leaf that is a nightmare, is the lack of fast chargers available for motorway journeys .. Great video, thank you Tak 👍🇬🇧
I would have actually bought a Chademo -> CCS adapter. I live in Eastern Europe and here charging network is lagging behind - often a mall has only one stall with CCS and Chademo. CCS is always occupied while I haven't ever seen Chademo being used. Chademo -> CCS adapter in this case would've helped to charge in those cases.
CHAdeMO to CCS adapters have existed for years. Tesla used to sell them, but stopped a while ago due to lack of demand. Many charging stations with multiple cables can only charge a car from one cable at a time, so make sure the stations you want to use are capable of charging multiple cars before buying an adapter specifically for that purpose.
This is really good news. You ask what I think: $1000 is a lot of money and will it keep working? I would buy such an adapter if it is a recognized company that stands behind it (maybe it is) and offers a replacement for $250 if it breaks. Of course, I dare to buy such an adapter when you have seen it on the market for example for a year and people give good reviews. It's a little early for me, but it's great news and potentially my car has become worth more.
This is extremely exciting news. Stumbled on this while looking for some videos to explain to my parents how to charge and road trip my leaf and this is going to make doing that road tripping so much less of a pain or unknown in the future.
Surely the best solution is for the charging stations to keep an adapter or two for loan when someone needs it? Maybe they would take a deposit to stop people running away with it. Or have the adapter secured to the CCS charging station.
To provide Chademo stations in the first place is a giant waste of money for the companies (which is why they stopped it). Most EV charge companies lose money on their business and providing a plug that barely anyone uses is not a sensible idea.
Great to see! Opens another option for enabling DC charging on EV conversions. Many aftermarket VCUs and BMSs includes native support for CHAdeMO so buy a cheap inlet and this adapter and your good to go (plus some contractors etc.). There is only two other options so far (as far as I know) to enable CCS DC charging on converted cars, and that is BMW i3 EVCC or getting a super pricy kit from Fellten (3300 pounds!!).
Dala, you had some reservations about this adapter in earlier videos. Have those concerns been resolved, is this a new version? Thank you for testing this!
Yes this is a revised hardware revision. After reviewing the specs and how it functions, I am confident in the design (otherwise I would not have made this video!) :)
I just received mine today here in Orlando Florida did my unboxing video shared the link to this video on my video hopefully I can help you out a little bit. I have a small channel but you never know. Anyway, I’m gonna be waiting for you to post some more videos about this thing I’m gonna test it out around Disney World and all the Disney chargers in the area probably this weekend if I can get it working I’m not great at downloading, firmware updates and not exactly sure how to do it, I wish the unit would’ve came with a little bit more instructions, but I am gonna try. Luckily, the Nissan leaf community on Facebook has been fairly supportive and sent over to your spreadsheet even though I don’t know what I’m looking at when I look at your spreadsheet lol but I’ll figure it out.
Great news! Realistically, the next step is an option to replace the cars Chademo receptacle with this unit's guts modified to be run off the 12v in the car to not need to lug and connect an adapter.
Thank you so much. We have the same problem in the United States. I looked at the Longo’s site and you can buy them for $1050 but you need to buy 2. So unless I can find someone else interested in buying one of them I think I will wait for numbers or prices to drop. Thank you so much. This is very encouraging. Don and Suzanne Rumbaugh, Pennsylvania, USA.
Thanks, Great job! The adapter looks handy and wondering why it took so long to make such a tool. The price is high, but I see no fundamental reasons for such a price tag, except for R&D investments to pay off. Looking for a charge speed test and price decrease.
So Darla.... I like the what you have and congratulations on get it done. My question is what about us over in USA we are moving to NACS here for all EV's. Will you make something from Chademo to NACS?
I think if it comes below €500 I will get one. For the moment there is lots of Cheadmo in Ireland. I have never had issues charging my leaf but I know that is changing.
Not a big issue for me with my 2014 Berlingo(22.5KWh battery) yet since the networks still install some Chademo connectors even at new charging locations here in Norway, but yeah, going to take a long, hard look at it when the wallet allows.
With the discontinuation of the only approved V2G charger in Australia the Wallbox Quasar, and most manufacturers focusing on CCS2 V2G chargers, Dala can you please test this adapter, if you can get your hands on a CCS2 V2G charger?
Wow ! I need one , I usually use level 2 or home plug , but I do need one at times, I want the 2024 leaf in future once it reaches 5 years old and it only has the damn Chademo.
Dala these are excellent news for Chademo users. I drive a 2018 Leaf an look desperately for a solution like this. More and more chademoconnectores are disappearing in my region. So this would be THE solution. What is your experience concerning different fast charging stations? This could ba a highly interesting solution for my. Got an offer to change my type 2 socket to a ccs version for 3500€.
Glad someone figured this out. Looks like you will get a workout with this thing. Maybe all the Nissan Leafs will migrate north of the Mason Dixon line where their batteries (lacking thermal mgmt) will have an easier life.
Could they add an LED on both the inlet side of the adaptor, and one on the outlet side of the adaptor to show its fully working, also to help diagnose futures faults if any.
Looks like a great idea. My only concern is we purchased a type 1 to type 2 adaptor for the wife's Kia soul and it melted after a year and it would not work with my ID Buzz so in end I've had to replace our home charger to type 2 untethered. So we can charge all our cars. As we have an older leaf 30kWh which now has a range of 63 miles on a full charge. This adapter would be a game changer but not at over £1000 pounds. As I'd rather put it towards getting a replacement battery for it.
Was it a genuine Kia cable?? My Soul is over 7 years old, and the T2-T1 adapter cable has been faultless. I DO now have a brand new cable, as it wasnt AC charging and the garage were desperate to try every remedy before admitting it was the OBC and replacing it under warranty (£1750 part) A new Kia cable is £179; I know that as they tried to charge me for it, before admitting it was an OBC failure. Although the price was £1500 when the 1st (non functioning) CCS adapters went out, when I checked yesterday; there were sellers touting from the mid £600 range; with a single unit for mid £700s; although VAT on top......... Hopefully, the price will fall further now there is a working version and other Chinese firms copy it. My main concern is - it has only been successfully tested on a Leaf, it would be nice to have another video demonstrating it working on other makes of car.
Hilariously the other way around would also be a welcome relief to CCS owners who are in areas where all the CCS chargers are taken and CHaDeMo adoption is quite low despite the huge amount of CHaDeMo chargers available... Is anyone working on that?
Yes, CHAdeMO to CCS adapters have existed for many years. The reason this one is an achievement is that a CHAdeMO to CCS adapter (what you're requesting) can be powered from either side before starting a charging session, and the locking mechanism is on the car and station, not the adapter. A CCS to CHAdeMO adapter (like the one in the video) needs to supply power to both the car and the station before the charging session starts, requiring a fairly powerful internal battery, and it needs the locking mechanism for both the car and station to be in the adapter. Where have you seen this many CHAdeMO stations? Most stations being installed in my country (Australia) have been CCS only, with some being a mix of CCS and CHAdeMO. I've never seen a CHAdeMO only station.
The practical non-existence of CHAdeMO chargers (as rare as J1772) in my area has always kept used Leafs from even being considered as the beyond "local errands" car to reduce the monthly fuel bill in the family budget. If this adapter hits the U.S. market at a reasonable price, people may become interested in buying used Leafs.
I live in the UK and I've had little trouble finding Chademo points. A lot of the new multi-charger hubs include Chademo with some at 100kw rate which is twice as fast as my 24kwh Nissan Leaf can manage. Ironically, the Chademo points are sometimes the only connection working reliably. I've even been to places where several Tesla Chargers are out but the Chademo chargers are all working. Who would have thought? But, even so, this device would be very useful. I just hope the move towards the Tesla standard in America doesn't affect Europe. It would be a disaster for a lot of people if CCS was replaced in Europe. It would be particularly annoying if you purchase one of these adapters. Great news. I'm amazed this device hasn't been rolled out by several companies before now. Dongguan could license it out to other companies. It would make a fortune among the early adopters who use Chademo. Now if only this device could work with Vehicle To Load as well. That would be massive.
There's zero chance of the Tesla NACS making any kind of inroads in Europe, as it'll only handle 1-phase AC, which is a non-starter for most of 3-phase Europe. There might be a few gray-market vehicles that have NACS in your area, but chargers? Nope.
I have a 2023 leaf and sadly it also comes with chademo, we have a company called Muxan here that does conversions but that voids my warrantee, however this is the ultimate solution.
I would be interested in a CCS1 to Chademo adapter here in the U.S. I don’t think I would get it for my 2017 Leaf but I am considering getting a newer 62kwh Leaf in about a year and having a CCS1 adapter would be a significant part of that decision. Thanks for your videos!

You weren't wrong when you said they were expensive! About $1,600 after currency conversion for me! We'll be waiting and will probably prefer a CHAdeMO to CCS conversion on our Leaf when the time comes that it's needed. Thankfully New Zealand's second-hand market comes predominantly from Japan so CHAdeMO likely won't be disappearing from here any time soon.
@@adddude7524 I guess it depends on your local laws and whether you can or want to do some DIY yourself. Here it would be classed as a modification and have to go through a compliance check but the actual DIY aspect of it could be done very cheaply. I can't say for sure yet whether that route would work out cheaper but it if the price for the converter doesn't come down significantly, I wouldn't be surprised if conversion ends up cheaper.
@@PaoloSulpriziowhat would be a benefit of that? None, I would say. Can it do 3 phase AC charging?
I purchased a CCS1 version today. I hope it works. They asked if I had seen the Dala video and if that how I found them. Yes. I asked for the Dala discount. Turns out it is 0%. Next time negotiate a discount for all of the referrals this video should generate:-). I am looking forward to driving a little faster vs. having to hypermile to the next, distant, Chademo charger. Thanks.
Can you please please make a video at some point about your experience on how the whole process worked for you? That would be so great. Purchase, usage experience, problems etc. I'll try to follow you if it is possible to follow your account. 👏

@@stephenegli4387 Great!
I would love to see this adapter used with the tesla's chademo adapter for some cursed adapter madness
Awesome! Price will drop for sure. Somebody needs to order 100items, lot of Leafs and Zoë owners will be really happy with those adapters
Leaf owners sure but Zoe? Am I mistaken didn’t it originally just use faster Type 2 at 22kw or 43kw and then later got CCS?
Zoe never used CHAdeMO
Zoe is not even a DC charging car, only AC and thus type 2.
Not only older EVs they still put chademo in nissan leaf 2022.
yes, the Leaf with CHAdeMO is still a 'new EV' according to Nissan in 2024.. and still available to buy new. Don't understand why they haven't given it a bigger refresh really.
This is amazing. Looks like there's life in the old Leaf yet!
they are still fine, but this was the culprit. now one can use the old leaf again, maybe even upgrade the batteries.
FANTASTIC! With my upgraded 30kWh battery in my i-MiEV, giving me a 220 kilometre range, and this adapter, long distance driving is much easier!!
How long does it take to charge from say 15% to 80% at a fast charger? How many kWh added to the battery during the session? Total price for the upgrade? Any info would be greatly appreciated from another fellow Imiev owner. 🎉😊
Could you please make a video about your I-Miev battery upgrade?
Tell me more about the upgrade?

I got all excited about this based on the video title. Only to hear you say "CCS2 to Chademo" and I'm in the US where we use CCS.
Ccs1 on website
Hi Dala, that's awesome! You should make a video showing the inside of it, I'm curious how they implemented it. We always suspected it would need an internal power source to correctly initialise the two standards since there's no power available until charging starts - it's great to see that a company has actually put in the resources to figure this out.
Only problem for now is that it costs €1500. I will probably buy one eventually, but I think I will wait for the price to drop before I do. I'm hoping it'll be under €500 at some point.
He did. See his previous videos
Thanks for the heads up! I will look for it
There are already resellers and alternative adapters, it’s insane how fast this moves. Best price I’ve seen today was 750€. I bet they will be available even cheaper soon…
Please give link where to buy for around €750. Thank you.
@@erebostdgreat, can you share the link? Do you know anybody who has already some experience with this system?
This is huge! Why aren't all the EV channels covering this
Because it adds value to EVs that millionaires aren't interested in.
Because there aren't many CHAdeMO EVs out there in countries where CCS won the battle.
This is great news. Well done all those who made this possible. Thank you.
If it works consistently and doesn't develop a fault and one day melt/catch fire mid-charge, then this is a kind of miracle. For me, I would like to see some long term testing.
I would only need it on long journeys, and while expensive I think worth it to enable convenient use of CCS...
In thirteen years of owning my leaf, ive never actually used the black port for charging! I need to get out more.
@@AddariaLightfingers 80% or less is better I'm told.
EVs enhanced has a blade battery for the leaf, i think this is LFP. But there are also CATL big cell options which are also very good apparently.
@@mastarceEVs enhanced stopped updating on the progress years ago... so no hope there sadly. Though yes there are already a few aftermarket CATL battery packs from China already being bought and used around the world. They even offer a whopping 77kwh battery for the Leaf 😂
@@HNRichard yes the algorithm suggested some videos from some very Chinese sources showing a modular Leaf pack with CATL cells.
In Russia, we can order CATL 180Ah (62 kWh) elements from China for $4,300 and all sorts of wires and hardware (also battery heating) for $1,000.
Amazing news! I had ruled out vehicles with Chademo charging. I will bear this in mind when we are looking for our second EV.
HELL YEAH! THIS WILL SAVE AND PROLONG THE LIFE OF SO MANY EVS! We need a north american one!
Or, a CCS-Type1 to CHAdeMo Adapter (but I'm not expecting CCS-Type1 to be maintain beyond the next 2-4 years)
The manufacturer already has a CCS1 version available!
Some charge networks don't allow adaptors. Assuming these use fixed MAC addresses in their PLC modems, they could potentially end up being blacklisted & rendered useless.
They can change it to a random one then
I guess you will be able to update it via USB.
@Dragon26112 did you visit the website? I'm not saying they're genuine, but they do show safety certifications for it
Maybe they could have adaptor hire Vending machine that requires credit card deposit, and adaptor is returned after use.
Muxsan in the Netherlands do it for around 3000 EU
@@MrIsmilealot Personally, I would take the 3,000 EU and put it towards an EV that already had a CCS charging port.
This is amazing, hopefully they'll make a version for the north American CCS. I'd buy one soooo fast
Great video, thank you
Tak 👍🇬🇧
You ask what I think:
$1000 is a lot of money and will it keep working? I would buy such an adapter if it is a recognized company that stands behind it (maybe it is) and offers a replacement for $250 if it breaks. Of course, I dare to buy such an adapter when you have seen it on the market for example for a year and people give good reviews. It's a little early for me, but it's great news and potentially my car has become worth more.
Makes DIY CCS for your EV conversion much easier.
Mount this in the car - chademo is easy to DIY.
NO WAY the once impossible made possible! 🤯
OMFG I can't believe it 😢
I need this. Right now. Checking the store

Just email them and ask to only buy the one but also I am interested
Thanks, Great job! The adapter looks handy and wondering why it took so long to make such a tool. The price is high, but I see no fundamental reasons for such a price tag, except for R&D investments to pay off. Looking for a charge speed test and price decrease.
It looks to me a gadget like an Apple watch !
Next video: Dala's EV Repair: I put a CCS convertor in my Leaf

How EXCITING!!!! I am going to wait a little bit for the competition and see what comes up!
Thanks for the exciting news and update!
im glad its possible! but with the size and price of that thing, i wish they made it a full conversion or a stationairy adapter of some sort.
A game changer it is! I discarded the Leaf just because of the Chademo, shame since they are good cars and not so pricey! Oops it’s expensive, $1000!
Super, now a kit to convert the car and my wife will be happy!
the Chinese would never have made it work without your help. good job Dala👌
Outstanding! Thanks Dala. Now if we can also get an NACS to Chademo adapter...
even smaller marked since NACS is US ONLY
Great you did it! Sad putting it in the trunk of Leaf 1 nearly doubles its price 😅
Impressive and I would like to have the adapter but I don’t need it bad enough to justify the 1000 dollar price tag.
Whoo, very impressive development!
Wow ! I need one , I usually use level 2 or home plug , but I do need one at times, I want the 2024 leaf in future once it reaches 5 years old and it only has the damn Chademo.
This is fantastic! Engineering can solve a lot of problems here.
I will by one, but first I will repalce my 24 battery to 40 or 62 in my Leaf 😉
So, when can we see the first test of a GB/T to CCS2 Adapter for unofficial Chinese imports of, say, the VW ID.6? 😁
I'd have no hesitation ordering this if they ever become available in Norway.
Could they add an LED on both the inlet side of the adaptor, and one on the outlet side of the adaptor to show its fully working, also to help diagnose futures faults if any.
Fantastic, I wish that thing was aruond 5 years ago when I was driving a Kia Soul, it would have helped a lot. Happy charging!
I like how the company name more or less describes how the device looks
I DO now have a brand new cable, as it wasnt AC charging and the garage were desperate to try every remedy before admitting it was the OBC and replacing it under warranty (£1750 part)
A new Kia cable is £179; I know that as they tried to charge me for it, before admitting it was an OBC failure.
Das wird vielen chademo Ladern den Hintern retten!
Dala, you are Chademo Jesus!
Nope.
Thank you for buying and testing this for us
I have a 2023 leaf and sadly it also comes with chademo, we have a company called Muxan here that does conversions but that voids my warrantee, however this is the ultimate solution.
Wonderful. Nissan needs to rebrand it (though Nissan probably does not give a hoot). Most USA DCFC charge networks do not allow third party adapters.
The linked webstore has a CCS1 adapter version also!

Isn't a conversion much more expensive? I would certainly prefer that to an adapter.
Yeah, you guys are blessed in NZ!
We are blessed at least with a pretty good DIY Leaf and EV conversion community so there is that :)
