This is BY FAR the most informative doctor I’ve ever heard, and the fact that he’s doing this in his pajamas in bed like it’s no biggie...damn, that is impressive!
Cheers for the Video! Excuse me for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Saayeahorn Inconceivable Secret (should be on google have a look)? It is a good exclusive product for getting rid of gout without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend Sam at last got astronomical success with it.
I never comment on videos but this one I had to. You are simply AMAZING! In one short video you just answered all the questions I've been seeking answers to for years! Dismissed as anxiety by near every Dr including a cardiologist, it was my gastrologist who suggested the heart palps were related to my vagus nerve. Still didn't put it together with a gerd flare until seeing your video and being in the middle of a rather nasty gerd attack. Thank you so much in your kindness of sharing this valuable information.
Lisa McGuire I am having these same issues. After I eat (especially too much) afterwards, I get bloating in my stomach and then I start burping A lot!!! this causes my heart to beat fast . Like 130-140 because I’m so freaked out!! It’s like so much pressure in my stomach I can’t breathe well... well this throws me into a full blown panic attack... I’m so exhausted over this... I feel like I’m dying...
It’s me Beth D it sux doesn’t it?? I just got put on Protonix for it... been on it a month now, and I will say... it’s definitely helped me!!! I still have panic attacks though...
I’m 75 years old and self diagnosed myself with these ‘gastric’ palpitations! I have a hiatal hernia, GERD, IBS-C&D and lactose intolerance! It helps to know that I have confirmation of what I believe is happening! Thank you so much for your video!
@@stellamarisschool8013 Good…….omeprozole, Lactaid, Beano, GasX, …… I try to eat smaller meals, chew small bites thoroughly…..when I feel too full and that I might get a palpitation I sit up straight or stand up and take a deep breath……usually that prevents it …… I think the bloated/gassy stomach presses on my diaphragm etc.

Diagnosed with PAC 2-1/2 years ago and GERD 15 years ago. I suspected my reflux was exacerbating my palpitations-live with them every day 24/7 and am awakened by them. You validated I am not crazy. They are debilitating to my quality of life. I told my partner that bowel movements triggered more palpitations and the article you referenced (I literally found and read minutes before finding your video) are absolutely can be related when these conditions coexist. This video has completely changed my perspective and validated all of what I know to be true as my PAC relates to my GERD. Thank you Dr Gupta.
Thank you. Had anxiety, caffeine withdrawal and gerd. Was having heart palpitations. Some were scary. Thank you for showing this! Jesus bless! People worry about this a lot. Cause it seems something is wrong with the heart. But isn't!
I literally do not have sufficient words to express my appreciation & gratitude for how aptly you breakdown these issues in your videos into a form of information that is easily digestible & understood. When I went to my cardiologist he checked me out comprehensively, said I was fine & "try not to worry about it". But as I said to him, "I came in with palpitations, I've been checked out & all is good, but I am now leaving with those same palpitations" with no information or prognosis for the near future regarding them. You are the only one who has seen past the heart checks & understands the fear & stress ectopics cause on an everyday basis. I hope your holistic view of how ectopics affects both physically & mentally the health of those that suffer from it will in time be taken on board by cardiologists as a matter of course.
Thank you for posting this video. When I was hospitalized for my palpitations, I kept telling everyone that I also was having indigestion, frequent belching and heartburn. Everyone told me that has no association with the cardiac ectopy (and I should know this as I'm an ICU RN). I knew that it didnt make sense but it felt like it couldn't be a coincidence...My metoprolol helps the ectopy a lot, however, I notice when my GERD flairs up, so do my ectopic beats. Here I am today with a GERD flare that started last night, and what do you know....my ectopy has increased....I have been searching for a relationship between these and there is not much out there, but I KNOW there has to be one. I really appreciate your video and hope you continue to educate the medical community about this relationship. Thank you!
I felt palpitations for months before talking to my Dr, who quickly said it was anxiety--but I don't suffer from anxiety! I have suffered from GERD and Barrett's Disease for years and am trying to get off meds and take care of it naturally. This video helped me understand how the two are connected! THANK YOU!
Seriously Dr. GUPTA! At this moment I was experiencing heart palpitations and the number at staggering of 120! I had recently been admitted in the hospital..for this and they sent me back after assuring my heart was intact. I tell you the mental pain..anxiety!! Lord! Your talk gave me a lot of relief! Seriously!! God bless u bro!
Thank you so much Dr. Gupta!! I have been suffering since April this year. My gastro doctor has dismissed me and my cardiologists says my palpitations are because I'm getting old. You are the first doctor I have heard from wanting me to have a better quality of life by addressing the link between a gastro issue and the heart. I will look at all your videos and take your advice. I really appreciate you taking time to do these videos. They have given me a peace of mind and for that I am thankful to you.
Katherine Mendoza about 2 years ago i had palpitations. My dr and cardiologist ran so many exams and couldn’t fins out why i had them. Now I understand my acid reflux had alot to do with the palpitations.
Menopause AND my cardiologist, were the ones that started me on this road....Thank GOD for magnesium tabs....How can you explain that the anxiety....that was there from menopause....would go through the roof with the cardiologist....all of a sudden I actually had to take more to bring me back to NORMAL.....no fun here .....and through ALL THE STRESS...I have a type of indegestion that causes sometimes palps....OH MAN....where are we ever going to be relieved.....but all in all...Sanjay ,the good doctor,at least is giving us info and relieving the stress....THANK YOU SIR and get well soon EVERYONE!!!!

I just wanted to thank you for making this video. I'm a 22 year old man who has been dealing with this almost a year. I've been having chest discomfort fora long time and knew part of it was Gerd because the anti acids would help but I would get palpitations with the gerd which cause my anxiety to only get worse because no doctor would take me seriously. I think this is leading me to a good direction. Thanks again! Please don't stop on your sharing your work and always be patient and understanding with your paitents. God bless!
Healed all this by going Keto and avoiding all carbs! Carbs are difficult to digest which in return gives us reflux and indigestion, which leads to heart palpitations due to agitated vagus nerve. Gut heart and brain health.
I have palpitations when checked with my doc they say its due to depression, anxiety and stress, tried keto but was told its not good for a gastric patient hmmmm so confused
I've been searching for an answer to this problem and suffering from it for 7 months now. All docs say your fine its anxiety. Please spread the word to all docs. Thank you for your knowledge and posting these videos for us. We are the ones people sweep under the rug and just thank you.
@@deniseallierusty I've recently came to the realization doctors have no more of an idea than just a regular person who's studying. Except a choice few. Like Sanjay. Check to see if you have a hiatal hernia. Try acv. If that don't work try acid suppressors. Try message. Message your neck on the left side (vagus nerve) . Message your stomach (important). Try cbd. Calming things. Meditation. Most importantly tho. Change you diet if need be. One of these things is bound to help.
Amazing explanation of the pottential connection between stomach disorders and palpitations. I have tried to explain to my GP that my papitations happen after experiencing a fluttering sensation in the stomach region. However the normal reply is "oh it's just anxiety".

@@muralisarma306 how many days your heart palpitations lasted?? Mine started from 1 September and is continuing even today but from yesterday little bit better but still tommorow I will go to cardiologist. Help me sir if u know or have anything to say regarding heart palpitations.
Dear sir, I had this gerd induced palpitations and visited cardiologist and gastroenterologist, two years back. Both of them refused to accept the relation between them. But, you got the point. As you mentioned when i treat the gerd, there is absence of heart palpitations. I was a serious workout guy, because of this gerd induced palpitations, i turned towards yoga which helps to some extent to minimise my gerd. But, i would like to share what i experience. Whenever, i receive gerd induced irritations, i feel kind of block in my throat, inturn reduces my oxygen intake through my wind pipes. As i am taking reduced oxygen intake to my lungs, it triggers heart as both are interconnected. It was my understanding. Still, living with the problem and managing. You are first one presenting this relationship between gerd and heart palpitations. So, i was so excited to share my experience. Thanks a lot
Wonderful contribution thankyou. I suffer anxiety, been on ppis 30yrs. Gerd much worse when anxiety raging. Got no worries, don’t know why have anxiety but won’t take AD drugs due to side effects. Bloody horrible
I had chest discomfort and shortness of breath, pain that stretched from base of neck to my left arm and down the arm. And it wasn't cardiac issue. My doctor said it could be reflux.. Now I understand. Thanks for your videos
I swear this is very helpful.Am always rushed in the hospital for the same reason, and when I explain that it is because of the Reflux, they all think am sick Psychologically. When I get the attack,my heart culms down when I Burp to Release the air out...I always say there is a connection between the stomach and my heart!!!!!!no one believed me!!!!!Thank you for this video
I’m one of those people suffering with this condition. My gastritis has gotten worse when I have small amounts of food in my stomach then I smoke. It causes fatigue, heart palpitations, anxiety, anxious, confusion, depression. To the point I’m about to past out. It’s been a long time I got it confused for low blood sugar. But it’s not. Thank you for making this video. It definitely helped me and it will help others.
worrying about the palpitations really increases its sensation. With practise, i have learned to "let go", after which the palpitations seem to disappear. Just focusing on something else seems to get rid of the palpitations, like working, any DIY project, watching a movie, etc. Any activity that takes the focus away from the palpitations.
jonathan thanks for the wonderful suggestions John. I get about 7000 ectopic beats (PVC’s) in 24hours and drives me mental especially as some give me a butterfly feeling in chest and make me so miserable and anxious at times. I’m going to try and let go as you suggest and focus on other things like meditation when particularly bad, movies, work etc. I think I have GERD which I’m working hard to get rid of with PPI for 1 month. The skipped heart beats are the worse stress for me. So thank you so much for your excellent suggestions
Hey John, I feel the exact same way just recently. Even though I'm not showing my anxiety, I have a tendency to feel it hence why I'm having these heart palpitations. I don't wanna think it's a heart attack, but my friend told me that there's no way I would almost have it cuz if you get it, it happens all of a sudden. He told me I most likely have acid reflux, and after watching this video, I feel somewhat relieved. I may be anxious right now just thinking about this and some negative things about what may happen to me if I see a doctor and that the doctor tells me something else that could be worse, and that's probably why I'm having these palpitations right now.
Dr Gupta first time ever I make a comment on a video is worth it. There are no words to describe my Gratitude This información is an eye opener to many of us that have suffered from this condition you bring hope to humanity you are truly connected to what you came here to do on earth thank you thank you Much love and Gratitude
You sir, just earned my subscription. Because of this video I may actually be able to sleep tonight instead of lying awake wondering if I'm going to go into arrest! I've recently suspected a hiatal hernia putting pressure on my heart and causing ectopics and PVCs. I have reflux for sure. It comes and goes but they seem to happen mostly around eating or shortly thereafter. I have an appointment Thursday with my cardiologist and will be discussing this. Thank you!
You are the first one to talk about the laying down positions affecting palpitations. I knew they did for me - especially if I have eaten a full meal. Thank you for these videos!! PS - I also have hiatus hernia and acid reflux. Thank you so much for connecting all of these together !!! Grateful! And God bless you!!
i wish i could tell you my story and then have you talk sense into my doctors! you are 100% spot on on this subject, its literally my story! ive been suffering for years without a single dr making the connection of this!
Finally! Yeah I am stressed LOL maybe because i am living half a life trying to recover from acid reflux and indigestion and heart palpitations while everyone sends me home and tells me to get on anxiety meds
Anxiety does makes you get GERD or gastritis because of the stress but once you get acid issues you become anxious again. is a cycle but manage your stress then manage your anxiety then manage your acid issues. i guess
I have been suffering with acid reflux and heart palpitations for 3 months. I was told my heart is fine and it’s normal! I told them I was getting light headed when exercising and nearly fainted! I tried licorice anti acids and the palpitations went away! You solved the mystery other doctors ignored as normal! THANK YOU for listening to patients!!
This video really resonated with me as notice my palpitations are much worse when my heartburn/acid reflux is active. They are really disconcerting when they happen and Dr. Gupta's videos are so informative and helpful. I love the way Dr. Gupta looks at the person as a whole along with how lifestyle changes can help rather than just treating the symptoms.
Ran to emergency many times over several years and doctor found nothing. Your explanations make so much sense. Treating digestion with enzymes etc and taking PPi has helped a great deal.

I’m so glad that you made this video. I always have palpitations during what I like to call, “Gastro events”. I finally made an appointment with a GI to see what’s going on. Thank you so much for explaining in detail. You totally reduced my anxiety level. You’re truly amazing.
Thank you so mutch! I think this is what triggered my A-Fib due to my short history with this. I will investigate more and talk to my doctors. Knowledge is Power and Peace of Mind.
This is absolutely true!! I was born with congenital heart defect, TOF, have had 5 repair surgeries over my lifetime beginning in 1964, the last being this year at age 62, for this. I have had PVCs and arrhythmia all of my life. I had an ablation at one point and that helped. I am now on 50 mg metoprolol daily. I still have PVCs but not nearly as bad after my last surgical repair but now when I get them, I notice it is after I eat, when my stomach is bloated. I take 2 Rolaids and within MINUTES, the bloating is gone AS WELL AS the palpitations and I feel 100% back to normal. This is a miracle for me. Unfortunately, all my Adult Congenital Heart Defect specialists, including electrophysiologists NEVER mentioned this. THANK YOU, Dr. Gupta, for confirming this connection.
This was incredibly helpful and comforting to me. You seem like a extremely kind and generous person, can't believe you filmed this while in bed for us 😄
Had various symptoms, like shortness of breath, heart palpitations like 212 bpm, anxiety, reflux etc. Did many tests and my doctor said I'm fine physically and should go to a psychologist. Now I have discovered I have a type 4 hiatal hernia. That explained so much.
I've recently had heart palpitations, acid reflux, unstable Blood Pressure and shortness of breath. I've went to the hospital twice and sent home both times. I'm finally seeing a cardiologist next week. This feeling is absolutely horrible and terrifying. I'm definitely mentioning this to my Doctor. Thank you so much for your informed videos.
This doctor is excellent. I just left the hospital after having chest pain and resting heart rate in the range of 145 to 185. I've had this issue for over 2 years now of having heart beat skips, high heart rate with GERD symptoms. Cardiologist couldnt diagnose me or help. Nice to finally connect everything and have answers. Sine I have been treating my safe for reflux my hart beats have improved alot. Thank you.
@A. B. it took a bit but I tried not to eat junk food and stayed away from chocolate but the thing that worked for me is 1 table a day of Salpraz 40mg in the morning before breakfast, it is a reflux medication and it works, so it settles the information and swelling that causing the pressure on the side of heart that makes you get horrible symptoms. Good luck with it all and hope you feel better soon.
@Kim-ss5bb try and have some lemon juice not much but this will help you digest food and Neutralize the acid, if that doesn't work for you try to have a teaspoon of raw honey with it. Fingers crossed for you.
I was foolish to have thought that my heart palps. were caused by my GERD meds and not the Gerd itself. Thanks for educating me on this and so much more. You are truly the best!

you are one of those few doctors who actually care about patients. My experience so far has been, you get a test, a 3 min conversation and a prescription and off you go. It's all about maximizing money and nobody truly cares to help. Great to see there are a few who provide more help for free on TH-cam than my doctor that charges me $500 for nothing. Unfortunately I’m one of y’all here. I woke up few minutes ago can’t sleep. I lost my dad too so everything is making me feel more scared about my life. I’m totally grateful to watch this video. I don’t know how I manage to get here but I know God or an Angel directed me. God bless you Doc Gupta. I can rest now so far I know I won’t die. But I’ll share my own experiences. I have had to sim stones, had GERD disease a chronic one that make my mouth smell and make me belch and odour from my mouth, I find it difficult swallowing, my lips get dried up and I feel thirsty most times, the worst of all is like something stuck in my throat that won’t go down, 😢. I bought promto inhibitors from counter and I took them like 2 times of treatment before I started using natural fruits like vegetables mint leaf, bananas, cucumber 🥒, melon 🍉, and oatmeal 🥣. It reduces it down but the palpitations is still making me feel worried befor I jumped on this video. I can’t still feels like I’m going to choke and it’s quiet painful and it squeezes my heart. Omg ! God have mercy! Hope it gets better soon. I don’t want to keep taking medicines cos it comes with chemicals and it might have after effects to my health. God help us all. 😢
Thank you! I have a hiatal hernia and also have been having irregular heartbeats and fluttering especially at night when I lay down. My heart specialist put me on a Holtor Monitor and said I was fine in spite of the fluttering. I asked him if this hiatal hernia could be the problem since it only happened at night, he laughed at me and said "No way!" So, thanks for your insight!
Thanks Doc! I have had these Afib attacks my whole life, when I was in my 20’s I ended up in the hospital after a night of drinking alcohol because the afib happened and lasted for over 12 hrs. As I got older I realized during high anxiety times and also when having reflux it would happen instantly. Another time it happens is when I’ve over indulged or when laying on my side in bed, i know if I’m not properly hydrated it’s more likely to occur also, that being said if I chug a bottle of water it helps them go away. I believe you’re spot on with your 3 different scenarios and I believe if you have this disorder all 3 of them will cause it, at least with me they do. This was great info, Thanks for clearing things up for me!
What I found works well for me is supplementing with digestive enzymes and keeping hydrated, I’ve had these brief afib episodes happening since I was 12 yo. I read an article once that mentioned low blood volume may contribute to this disorder, I believe dehydration can cause low blood volume and may also cause arrhythmias.
I'm researching this subject, as I am trying to avoid medications, or rather... first try the natural remedies (i.e. lifestyle changes, etc...). My case might be a different kind of relationship, but it is still a relationship between the digestion system and the heart. In my case I believe that gastric reflux increases my anxiety level (or my anxiety level increases gastric reflux), which in turn may cause palpitations, which as a result causes more anxiety, and the cycle continues. One time I also went to the emergency department with chest pain (freaking out that it's a hear tissue, which turned out to be muscle pain), and it also seemed like I had GERD at the time. I asked the doctor why I feel a lump in my throat. She said it's probably GERD and prescribed some tablets. So, directly or indirectly, our body is all interconnected. Just keep in mind that, these issues might be caused because you actually DO NOT have enough acid. So some medication might be hiding the issue rather than solving it. Of course, always refer to your doctor and not some guy on TH-cam like me :)
Thank you so much for finally shedding more light on this. I’m in my early 20s, and sometimes it’s hard to get doctors to take you seriously because you’re suppose to be young and healthy. When I went into the emergency room for the first time in my life, they mentioned that my C-Reactive protein levels were high but couldn’t pinpoint where that inflammation was. All my tests and labs including an echocardiogram, holter monitor, multiple EKGs and renal artery doppler scan came back clear, so I’ve been finally referred to a GI. Hoping I can resolve or at least manage it , so I can get back to the quality of life I was accustomed to. Edit 3/26/2022: So I’ve seen a GI doctor and had an upper endoscopy to confirm what I suspected. I was diagnosed with GERD (moderate reflux), gastritis, and esophagitis. Perfect trio isn’t it? Currently on Famotidine a.k.a Pepcid (40 MG morning and night) and metoprolol (75 mg morning) for the sinus tachycardia/palpitations. It’s still a wait and see game for me so I’ll update (if I remember) in the weeks ahead.
This is my exact story. I know how you feel, doctors just dismiss everything as anxiety, and it’s super frustrating. Definitely let us know if it solves your heart problems.
Hey guys, saw your notifications and yes I’m managing a little better now. Still taking Pepcid and metoprolol. I’ve had way less tachycardia incidents since I’ve been treating my acid reflux issues and being put on the beta blocker. Aside from medication, ginger and chamomile tea (non-caffeinated organic) as well as aloe provides some relief (even if temporarily) for my GERD symptoms. Sometimes, I’ll do a fast in the morning and eat frequent small meals throughout the day so as to not eat too much. Eating too much or close to bed time can trigger heartburn and puts pressure on your LES. I also avoid fruity drinks or drinks with large amounts of citrus, don’t drink soda, don’t eat spicy foods, and curtail my consumption of fried foods. I also don’t eat chocolate as often even though that’s one of my favorites. If I do, it’s gonna be a white or dark (preferably dark because it’s less acidic). I also have included more vegetables and acid fighting foods in my diet. It’s still on and off for me, but at least I’m no longer in the dark about this condition. Feel free to reply with questions or whatever!
Yes been having this since I got Covid. I get acid reflex but feel heart burn and my heart racing when I’m just sitting down. Done all the test on my heart and everything came back good then they said it was anxiety!!!!
My doctor insist that my gut problem (acid related) has nothing to do with my palpitation and now while watching this video ease my mind and not worrying too much. Thank you for sharing valuable info.
Thank you so much for this video. I have skipped heart beats, palpations, my doctor sort of ignores me and says not to worry. I went to the ED today because of them, again I was told not to worry and sent home after the EKG and blood work. Well, I do worry, they scare me. I have a hiatus hernia and acid reflux, and I do notice the skips more when my tummy feels bubbley or gasey. I have wondered all along if this could be a contributer to the palps, now I know. Thank you again.
I have the entire suite of heart and stomach related issues described here. PVCs, PACs, hiatal hernia and GERD. Much of my research is conclusive to what Dr. Gupta is saying here. I have had the entire battery of cardiac testing confirming the heart arithmia and mild mitral valve dis-function but also concluding no major problem. I have been using exercises designed to retract the stomach back into the sub diaphanous cavity with some success. There are several TH-cam videos on that subject. I have also been trying to ween off from the pro tonics but after viewing this I may have to re-evaluate the wisdom of that.
hi Doc, do you know if treating the reflux with omeprazol is enough or maybe atenolol or other beta blocker is better those skipped heart beats? thanks in regards! nice video i appreciate it!
We are so lucky to have someone like you doctor. Hopefully other doctors will be open to your findings so they can act on our behalf through you God bless and thank you.
I am getting anxious with my palpitations recently. I went to my cardiologist, had ECG, 2D Echo and even had to wear a holter monitor for 24 hours but everything was normal. My cardiologysist said it might be anxiety or nervousness since I'm also taking antihypertensive meds. Even when my BP is normal, I still do get palpitations. This video made me realize that it must be with my acid reflux since I was diagnosed with GERD 2 years ago.
We have the same story. I though i was dying ang having a heart . But after 3 different test and 2d echo every was normal. Cardiologist confirmed that it was my gerd with worsening symptoms .
I suffer from palps. Light jogging helped my symptom but after paying soccer yesterday hoping to speed up my healing it got much worse. I suddenly having massive palpitations and I cannot sleep at night. I am desperate for some help.
Dr. Gupta, I just wanted to say, as many have said before, I owe you such a debt of gratitude. These things are not discussed enough, when researching on one's own, most information just kinda says "well, there *could* be a link, but probably not." I suffer from pretty bad GERD and i've absolutely noticed an uptick in ectopic beats when i'm in a flare because of missing my meds or eating too many trigger foods.
Thanks Doc! Currently suffering this, finally understand the relation between vagus nerve and hiatus hernia which answer my question on why sometimes i had the fainting spells, never fainted but just the spell.

@@abdullah.-0Hi friend. Yes, when I feel my stomach flutter I “gray out,” and for a long time I didn’t understand whether this were vasovagal syncope or something neurological. Do you experience your symptoms along with reflux, bloating, or delayed gastric emptying?
Thank you so much doctor!! This is such a relief for me, I've been suffering from palpitations for years and it triggers my anxiety most of the time that leads to panic attacks and more more more palpitations to the extent that I thought I am having a heart attack or heart disease. I always experience acid reflux before but I don't take it seriously, not until now that I gave birth, It became worse as well as my palpitations. My husband doesn't believe me, he thought my abnormal heartbeats are cause by anxiety and just force me to calm down and not think of it. Thank you for this info! It enlightened me. 💕
Would have been nice to hear this 16 years ago. I told my doctor that the same thing happens consistently. Upset stomach/heartburn then PACs till my stomach was empty. He said there is no connection. I ignored him, treated my indigestion by changing my diet and hadn't had an episode till recently. Now I take a Tums, and it pretty much fixes it, I need to eat better, that is the key
Tums is not a soultion just a quick fix and it does you no good in the long run... fixing your diet you are correct... easier said than done tho... i suffer as well so i know... im using apple cider vinegar and get much releaf... acv is natural unlike tums
Thankgod Im not the only one! AND IM NOT MENTALLY ILL! Haha Thankyou so much Doc! Ive been at the emergency room 5 times because I thought I was having heart problems and they dismissed it as anxiety but I realised by the last 2 visits that I was feeling a horrible burning sensation before the palpitations started. I have sleep apnea but my respiratory therapist couldn't understand why I would wake up gasping with horrible pain in my stomach I finally got diagnosed with GERD and Ive just been out of my mind not sleeping and panic attacks from the pain and palpitations. Obviously the panic attacks are also triggering stress palpitations but I know how to deal with that though. I seriously would get down on my knees and shine your boots right now if I could.
Ive recently starting to get heart palpitations and heart racing ..with the indigestion and axiety from being frightened i try breathing slow lying down relaxing ..drinking gaviston helps after awhile however a few days later all my syptoms are back again..its so scary..iknow i need to see a doctor but since the covid 19..im a little skeptical..im so glad that i have some clarity after listening to dr York ive suscribed and will be giving a thumbs up to all of your informative videos you put my mind at ease💙..thanks again doc!🙏🏽
I don't necessarily have indigestion but ever since I lost my gallbladder, I've experienced heart palps. I've been to hospital and they never find anything. So thankful to have found your channel
I found this so true! I am diagnosed with Mitral prolapse with Mild regurgitation around 25 yrs ago. I have on and off symptoms of papitations, dizziness ,SOB etc under stressful situations. Im 49 yo and recently had been experiencing the symptoms frequently and adviced to take beta blockers. What I noticed is that my skipped beats are triggered after eating but gets relief when I burp deeply. Its always the case. Id been telling my cardiologist but i dont get the answer clearly. Thanks Dr. God bless you!
This video EXPLAINS sooo much from, why, how, what of palpitations and GERDS association. The only question I would ask is why after you eat palpitations increase. But this was priceless and wonderful information💥
Thank you for posting this series. I have dealt with Afib and had an ablation procedure. I still suffer from PVC's, PAC's, and SVT's. I notice that when the irregular rhythm begins I am belching a lot. Sometimes, I get this acidic aftertaste. My cardiologist and electrophysiologist treat this with beta blockers, etc. No real help. My internist prescribed 40 mg. of Prilosec for possible GERD. After three weeks of this treatment, my episodes have been reduced significantly and the episodes are mildly bothersome compared to what I was experiencing. I will continue the PPI treatment for a couple of months but finally feel hopeful about this condition.
Incredible timing tripping over this. You have made it so clear to me. I am not having 20 heart attacks a day. I know i have GERD but didn't understand how it all worked. Thanku so much. I love you too.
I would just love the opportunity to see this doctor. He is so calming and reassuring and he really gets it. The first and only Cardiologist I saw, rolled his eyes when I asked him if this could be a cause of my issues along with stress/anxiety. I am currently searching for a Cardiologist just like this man, but I seriously doubt they exist.
Thank you so much for your videos which I have just discovered. I’ve suffered with ectopics for 20 years and have always been fobbed off. I had an episode of SVT last year which was terrifying and my anxiety has gone though the roof despite being told it’s benign. Watching your videos has given more information than any doctor or cardiologist I’ve seen so far - thank you.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video! I just got done wearing a Holter Monitor because I have had such frequent palpitations. But I noticed that since the monitor is off, my palpitations are worse......but SO IS MY GERD! I've been eating things I shouldn't have and have had coffee the last few mornings...and I know that is not what I need to be doing. I'm on two meds for the GERD, plus antiacids when I need them. I was sitting here, short of breath and having palpitations with mild stomach pain and just wondered if it could all be related. I typed in GERD and Heart Palpitations and your video popped up. So, tomorrow I'm back to doing what I'm supposed to and hopefully in a few days, things will be better. And I plan on telling my Cardiologist about all of this. So far, they haven't found anything else that has been causing my palpitations.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm commenting from my daughter's youtube account. This is her 43 yo mom. I've been suffering from gerd and heart palpitations and was so worried about my heart. It's such a relief to know that they are related. I will continue to focus on diet and exercise like I have been and hope the palpitations improve!
None of my doctors ever heard of rhoemheld syndrome and just say everything is anxiety even though I KNOW that the anxiety doesn’t come until after I get the extreme reflux and heart symptoms.

I recently had severe Rhoemheld's gastrocardiac syndrome. Worst palpitations and chest pain of my life, lack of sleep, GERD and bloating. I then went on a zero FODMAP diet, and the issues cleared up in just a few days. Please do yourself a favor and google low FODMAP diets. This will get rid of your bloating and will probably get rid of the GERD and the palpitations/chest pain as well. It can be a bit tough to follow but it is like a miracle.

Thank you Dr. Gupta! I have been have heart rhythm disturbances since December. I was thinking what changed from December until now. Well I stopped my acid reflux medication in pursuit of a natural way to treat it. Obviously it did not work. I went to the ER twice because of severe palpitations and saw a cardiologist. No answers. I was told my heart was functioning well. I made the connection myself and found your video. I’ve started my nexium again and I am hopeful the heart rhythm disturbances end.
Dr. Gupta, Thank you for this video. I have had gastro esophagus reflux and a hiatal hernia for 35 years. Had the hernia repaired 30 years ago to only small success. I had a wonderful gastroenterologist who taught me to control my relux with medication and diet. However, I would have PACs which 30 years ago, Doctors insisted were heart related. I, in fact, agrued with my Doctor that I believed that the PACs were related to the Vagus nerve because they were frequent when my acid reflux would flare. Sure enough, I have had many heart related tests to find that there is no heart disease. PACs are; however, frightening. If a patient is experiencing these and takes acid reducing medication and the PACs subside, they can be somewhat certain that it is not a heart problem. I have found that Gaviscon and other over the counter medications also help for quick relief of PACs. You are also correct that high inflation markers in the blood are found with those of us with acid reflux. It becomes a balancing act of life style, It is my view that those of us with this condition should get their hearts checked from time to time when symptoms are severe for peace of mind. Peace of mind is also important to live with the condition. I want to thank you for your research.
I have gastric reflux that sometimes cuts off my voice...for a few seconds I sound very hoarse and like I am getting laryngitis. It goes away pretty quickly. I have A-fib also. Undiagnosed by a doctor, but I can feel the bouts of it; I feel sure that's what it is. I've been taking 320 mg Magnesium Citrate for a few days, and I think it is helping everything!! Thank you so much for all of of your excellent videos!!! ⚘
That’s me alright, if I eat too much fried food and or spicy sauces I’ll have an attack several hours later consisting of heart flutters and weird off beats that lasts about 10-20 mins until I finally burp and taste the food coming back up! It’s scary. After that I’m back to normal. No heart problems with me I cycle over 100 miles weekly and run about 40 miles weekly, I control this with diet but sometimes I slip up and suffer an attack:| Thanks Doctor.
😲for years I have been suffering with reflux hiatus hernia, numerous times Iv had bloating a churning in the stomach with cramps and then my heart is racing feeling hot and shaky till this April when they said I had a heart attack. 🙄I wish doctors would listen to the patients as they recall their symptoms from a week or a month ago because that would give them an idea of what the cause could have been or how it has got worse. My docs fobbed me off when kept going with the same symptoms and generally feeling unwell, my docs kept telling me it’s anxiety, but I kept telling them “yes it is because every time it happens I get anxious not anxious before I feel unwell” doc you are amazing you have literally spoken about everything that was going on in my little head because I have complained to my GP as I feel like I my symptoms were ignored based on blood test result being normal. But here I am 51 with a stent and on heaps of meds. I love watching ur videos and I wish some of those doctors would watch and learn so they can help patients and not make them feel isolated and helpless. 👍🏼great stuff
I wish I came across this video earlier. Feels like you’re exactly describing me. I’ve had heart monitor on a few times and going to see the cardiologist next week. I get so scared of palpitations. Unexplained, unexpected, I’ve even been to hospital. I’ve been told I’m fine. Only prescribed beta blockers. And yes! I felt neglected! I’ll have a good point to discuss with my cardiologist next week! Thank you for this great video

I have severe problems with irregular heartbeats especially at night when sleeping, it becomes so bad that I wake up screaming thinking my heart will stop. I checked my heart many times and paid thousands of dollars to do so and no single cardiologist found anything wrong with my heart but still I got these very bad palpitations. I do have diagnosed hiatal hernia and acid reflux, I only wish I could find any relief at all from this, it's a living hell for me and affecting my life negatively so much beyond any words :(
You look to be very young in your profile pic. Also if cardiologists have checked your heart and found nothing wrong then that should put your mind at ease? You say you have a hernia and acid reflux. No doubt that's what's causing your heart palpitations. And while it may feel weird and freaky, it's NOT life threatening. You can try to find ways to avoid it but don't worry about it!😉
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 Hehe I look young but I'm 28, exactly as you said they feel so weird and freaky, so scary at times. But it's more than probably my hernia but I don't know if I want to live like this or do a repair and maybe that would solve my palpitations for good. I remember a few years back when I hadn't this problems it was so good to live.
@@AdiiS Yes, 28 is still very young. I don't know if there is a repair surgery for your kind of palpitations? Because really, they are not serious nor threaten your health. I have actual Afib and there is a procedure called ablation. But I don't experience Afib very often, and when I do, I know how to bring my heart back into normal sinus rhythm in just a few minutes. So the ablation procedure is not for me. I am much older than you and take a beta blocker plus a blood thinner. But I DON'T let it Dominate my life. So You, being young and healthy, should just concentrate on enjoying your life!!🤗😎
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 I ment a repair surgery of my hiatal hernia that's most likely causing my palpitations. As far as I know, there isn't any other way to fix a hiatal hernia besides surgery :/ what is afib, is that a fast heartbeat or? I heard about the ablation procedure. I hope though you stay in very good health. Thank you for the motivation, you are really a nice person, I'll try to get a bit more positive now.
@@AdiiS Oh, yes of course. Surgery to correct your hiatal hernia! That might be a great way to completely solve your palpitation issues!😉 My sister-in-law has a hiatal hernia as well, and she has thought about having that surgery. But in the past couple years it seems that her acid reflux has gotten much less. So it doesn't bother her much anymore. (She used to have to sleep sitting up in a reclincer at times to get relief from her acid reflux!)😨#Yikes! AFib is an un-natural heart rhythm where the heart actually flutters instead of beating. It's actually called 'atrial fibrillation.' It feels like somehow a live fish has gotten placed in your chest and it's flipping all around! Very freaky feeling!🙃 Not to go into too much detail, but the reason I take blood-thinner meds is because of the danger of Afibs potential to cause strokes. BUT many, many people live long healthy lives with AFib. In fact, quite a few are practicing, competitive athletes!! They DON'T let it Rule their lives! So you stay positive with your young and healthy self, and get out there and Enjoy your life. Your kind of palpitations do NOT cause strokes. You've got a great long life ahead of you, young man!!😊😎
I am 37 years old, I’ve always been an average weight no matter what I’ve eaten which has not helped me in maintaining a healthy diet... it’s actually terrible! Any-who four days b4 Christmas I began having extreme ectopic beats I feel them in my throat and eats it’s horrible! Had it every single day since. I have noticed they come on as soon as I eat something I’m actually scared to eat 😭... So glad I came across this video. Thank you sir 🙏
Thank you for this. I have been having palpitations and "flutters" for a few weeks now. They have coincided with stress and a terrible round of acid reflux. I also have a hiatal hernia. I have noticed a link between the issues. The worse my reflux gets, the more I notice my heart. I also had a miscarriage in March, and I feel that this event could be adding to the palpitations. It all started after that happened. Anyway, I have been extremely anxious about my palpitations, but I have an appointment to see my doctor in a week. Your video has helped me to relax a bit in the meantime. Worrying only makes it so much worse.
@@Beast10xX My doctor doesn't think I have any autoimmune diseases based on tests she ran, but they run in my family. I'm not convinced I don't have one.
Had the same problem, 8 months ago I had a bad reflux and felt multiple heart palpitations. I freaked out and went to ER. They said it was GERD and the blood work and ECG was fine and prescribed Pantoprazole. The Doctor also referred me to a Cardiologist who then tested me out and everything was fine, my heart rate rhythm was fine and asked me to lose weight. I was so freaked out that I lost 17 kgs since then by running, and on Pantoprazole medication. Made a few changes to my diet (can’t lie still not 100% healthy diet) but saw a big change in my reflux. I still get belching due to running though. Losing weight does make a difference guys. And do it by working out, don’t starve yourself. Eat your meals on time 3-4 times a day.
Your comment summed it up perfectly, first came the acid reflux/ GERD symptoms, then followed the heart palpitations. That’s because you were panicked over the way the heartburn felt, GERD doesn’t cause palpitations, but the way we respond to the GERD does. That’s why a lot of people think that palpitations are caused by GERD when in reality, it’s the response to the GERD that causes stress induced palpitations
This is BY FAR the most informative doctor I’ve ever heard, and the fact that he’s doing this in his pajamas in bed like it’s no biggie...damn, that is impressive!

Kudos to you for highlighting the link between gastric/digestive issues and palpitations. Thank you.
Thank you!

@@muralisarma306 how many days your heart palpitations lasted?? Mine started from 1 September and is continuing even today but from yesterday little bit better but still tommorow I will go to cardiologist. Help me sir if u know or have anything to say regarding heart palpitations.
Dear sir,
I had this gerd induced palpitations and visited cardiologist and gastroenterologist, two years back.
Same with me
What are the medicine to take. I have same
Wonderful contribution thankyou. I suffer anxiety, been on ppis 30yrs. Gerd much worse when anxiety raging. Got no worries, don’t know why have anxiety but won’t take AD drugs due to side effects. Bloody horrible
i had same problem, i don't run now adays i just go for walking
I had chest discomfort and shortness of breath, pain that stretched from base of neck to my left arm and down the arm. And it wasn't cardiac issue. My doctor said it could be reflux.. Now I understand. Thanks for your videos

I swear this is very helpful.Am always rushed in the hospital for the same reason, and when I explain that it is because of the Reflux, they all think am sick Psychologically. When I get the attack,my heart culms down when I Burp to Release the air out...I always say there is a connection between the stomach and my heart!!!!!!no one believed me!!!!!Thank you for this video
I am feeling such relief in watching this video - hoping this is the reason for my SVT.
Is it better now?
Good advice, I completely agree. Symptoms reduce when distracted.
U re smart
Hey John,
I feel the exact same way just recently.
Their so scary though lol it makes me panic all the time it’s all in my belly
Dr Gupta first time ever I make a comment on a video is worth it. There are no words to describe my Gratitude This información is an eye opener to many of us that have suffered from this condition you bring hope to humanity you are truly connected to what you came here to do on earth thank you thank you
Much love and Gratitude
You sir, just earned my subscription. Because of this video I may actually be able to sleep tonight instead of lying awake wondering if I'm going to go into arrest! I've recently suspected a hiatal hernia putting pressure on my heart and causing ectopics and PVCs. I have reflux for sure. It comes and goes but they seem to happen mostly around eating or shortly thereafter. I have an appointment Thursday with my cardiologist and will be discussing this. Thank you!
Hey, how are you doing now?
I am pregnant and suffering from both heart arrhythmias and acid reflux. This video makes so much sense!

Is your heart working normally now?
Finally! Yeah I am stressed LOL maybe because i am living half a life trying to recover from acid reflux and indigestion and heart palpitations while everyone sends me home and tells me to get on anxiety meds
Ugh, I feel you man..I have the same issue
What should i do I have frequent mouth ulcer and palipitaion
went to the ER twice and they told me i was under stress !!!
Same here, I already have PVCs, but the reflux increases them.

You seem like a extremely kind and generous person, can't believe you filmed this while in bed for us 😄
This is an incredible doctor doing all of these to helps us without receiving any pay back.
@A. B. it took a bit but I tried not to eat junk food and stayed away from chocolate but the thing that worked for me is 1 table a day of Salpraz 40mg in the morning before breakfast, it is a reflux medication and it works, so it settles the information and swelling that causing the pressure on the side of heart that makes you get horrible symptoms. Good luck with it all and hope you feel better soon.
I'm taking pantoprazole but still getting bad heartburn and taste of acid in mouth what would you suggest
@Kim-ss5bb try and have some lemon juice not much but this will help you digest food and Neutralize the acid, if that doesn't work for you try to have a teaspoon of raw honey with it. Fingers crossed for you.
I was foolish to have thought that my heart palps. were caused by my GERD meds and

you are one of those few doctors who actually care about patients. My experience so far has been, you get a test, a 3 min conversation and a prescription and off you go. It's all about maximizing money and nobody truly cares to help. Great to see there are a few who provide more help for free on TH-cam than my doctor that charges me $500 for nothing. Please add a donation link to your videos, I am happy to pay for your work.
Wow, a doctor that cares about quality of life. My doctor says it's not dangerous and that I have to learn to live with it.
Hi how do you treat your afib can you please give me some help thanks
Do or did you get chest or sternum pain as well?
thank you, how old are you now?
Much experienced by people who are always under stress. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏. Please keep helping people with anxiety with your amazing videos. Reassurance might just save a life 🙏♥️
Thank you so much for finally shedding more light on this.
How'd you go since then mate?
Yes, please keep us updated. Going through the same thing. ♥️🙏😭

@@maninatreeproductions9588 sir plz tell me what is a fodmap diet.i can search in Google bt I'm literally confused which food to ate and which food to avoid.plz sir let's explain me I'm having same problem with7 months.
Bessie A hi Bessie how are you going now?
Thanks You, Sanjay Sir now everything makes so much sense. Please continue lots of love from India.
Iam in fasting and I can feel the burning sensation on my stomach and my heart is beating so fast.am so worried..Now I find the reason.thnkyou dctr.💞
It becomes a balancing act of life style,
It is my view that those of us with this condition should get their hearts checked from time to time when symptoms are severe for peace of mind.
Thanks for speaking out man. I've got similar issues.
10-20 min? Must be nice.
How very kind ..thank you so much!
Sara how did you go discussing with the cardiologist and how are you now?
Dr Emovon your commitment to helping people with bad breath and acid reflux) is truly remarkable. Thank you for spreading awareness about alternative solutions and providing hope to those who have bad breath and acid reflux. thank you Dr Emovon on TH-cam channel....🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
So true.... I had ridiculous reflux, discovered that I have allergies, started on magnesium to help cleanse liver, now my reflux has completely gone and my palpitations ... All within a month.... Got to look after ourselves ☺️
So the allergies that was causing your ectopics?
How long did you have reflux for
You just became my go to doctor...i love your genuine care for people and knowledge that you share ❤
Do you have any autoimmune disease?
@@Beast10xX My doctor doesn't think I have any autoimmune diseases based on tests she ran, but they run in my family. I'm not convinced I don't have one.
@@a.d.2719 do you have any skin issues or food allergies?
@@Beast10xX Sorry, I never saw your reply. Yes, I do have skin problems on my scalp and legs. And also joint pain. I think I may have psoriasis.
Did you ever get the acidic taste in your mouth
