40 years ago, I had an old neighbor tell a tale of hunting elk in Alaska. So, I'd guess this actually happened about 60 years old. Anyways they had 2 dog sled teams and 2 drivers and him. He spotted and shot an elk at a large distance. But it stood back up, so he shot it again. but when they got to the elk, they found out it was another one that was bedded down behind the first one. So, he had accidently shot 2. But they did not have capacity to carry all of 2 elk out with just 2 sled teams. So, they took one whole elk and the head mount on the 2nd. the guide said to drink as much beer as they could and make a complete circle of pee 'no gaps", around what was left of the remaining elk. And if they were fast enough getting back the wolves would not cross the pee path. they returned in less than 24 hrs to find lots of wolf tracks around the pee line, but never crossed and they were able to take the rest of the meat. I was in his home once and he had animal busts from just about every animal. I've never understood the whole taxidermy thing, just as long as they eat the meat.
About wolves knowing that we're dangerous - They also recognize a fellow predator. Even if they've never encountered a human, our eyes are forward facing, we're large, move differently than any other animal they'd see etc then if they had seen a human we also make loud noises, possibly have a gun or a car that would be loud foreign and threatening , etc. Everything about humans would be threatening to a wolf and they are intelligent enough to recognize all of it and not pick a fight they would lose. Wolves are really incredible animals.
How much of a predator are we without a gun, etc.? We are not carnivores. Look at the wolves’ teeth, claws, and gut and compare with ours. We can eat flesh but are designed to predominantly eat plants.
GoldenLass it’s pointless to try to take away our biggest advantage… our intelligence.. which allowed for the production of that gun! Think of this: when man appeared on the planet some 4 million years ago… all he was given was some grass, rocks, sand and trees. From these completely primitive elements, we somehow managed to visit the moon and build incredible machines including the iPad you are possibly typing your comments on. We are on the contrary, animal like no other!
@@zeroceiling I agree, for the most part. Except most animals are limited in their abilities in part because they lack hands. A few animals (e.g. chimps, crows) have been shown to fashion tools, which we previously thought was limited to humans. My point was that physiologically speaking, we are not best suited to have a meat-centric diet. Ironically, while humans are brilliant enough to do almost god-like things like flying to the moon, we are foolish enough to destroy planet earth 😥
GoldenLass …I understand your point… and yes.. you are right… our dental profile designates us as omnivores…but I do think its more of a “gestalt”… “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts “.. kind of thing. Our intelligence is what drove our physical changes… for example… we were driven by general need to socialize… but to build these social groups into effective structures.. exchange of ideas was crucial… and hence vocalization became fundamental to these early hominids… and the more complex the communication became…the more it affected or dental structure…as did the preparation of meat over fire… allowing for easier consumption…etc…etc. ….so by that reasoning we were still dangerous and killing everything in sight… but we were doing it through organizing… not brawn and sharp canines and incisors… or claws for that matter…
Try cougar, its a lot like pork. Very delicious, but shouldn't take the place of eating vegetarian animals on a regular basis. Old timers say this, as it will eventually make you weak. So, stick to the horned animals and the ungulates for the most part of your nutrition.

If you have a 10 rounds and you hit 20 percent of those (considering the adrenaline and the cold should batter your accuracy) you just got 2 wolves. Which means you still have 18 danger pups after you. Yeah definitely recommend big magazines.

I’m in Alberta - lake town, the only thing I had to look out for getting off work late at night, was moose, they had been coming into town, I was keeping an eye out one night when I saw a deer calmly eating - we made eye contact and I knew it was safe to pass at that location 😂

He’s 100% right about only finding 2 cases of real deal wolf attacks in North America where the wolves actually hunted and killed the person. A female teacher was killed and partially consumed by a pack of wolves as she was on a jog in Alaska. She was new to the area and was warned that wolves had been spotted close by recently and told not to go walking alone. The report says she and the pack met on the road (she was headed West and they were tracking her from the west and had come into view just as she rounded a bend in the road) and from her tracks they could see that at one point she stopped and then turned around and ran. That is a HUGE no no. That is “prey” behavior. The report says from where she began running the wolves were on her within 25 yards. They attacked and retreated and she got up and ran again and they attacked again and retreated again. Then she made one more attempt to run and they took her down for good. Which is normal wolf behavior. They attack and wait for their prey to bleed out and weaken and will attack again if necessary. The locals realized she never came back from her jog and they went looking for her and found her remains a few yards off the road with bloody paw prints completely surrounding the body and they heard wolves and saw eyes in the tree line so they left and came back with rifles and a 4 wheeler and found her remains had been drug even farther off the road and had been consumed much more. They rode circles around what was left of her until AST could get out to the area on a small bush plane. It was literally the only documented case of a person being hunted and consumed by wolves in Alaska in the past 50+ years. I’m not familiar completely with the other case he mentioned that took place in Canada, but I know the young man was killed by a pack of wolves that had gotten used to coming into the town’s landfill on the outskirts of town and had been eating from the landfill. He had apparently gone for a walk close to the landfill area even though he had been warned by coworkers not to go walking alone after sunset because they had repeatedly spotted wolves around the area recently. They went looking for him after he did not return and they found his partially consumed remains. Normally attacks on people are by wounded wolves or rabid wolves. Most times wolves really do avoid humans at all costs. But in those 2 cases it was concluded that wolves had hunted and tracked and killed the people the same way they would with a caribou or moose.
TaK I recently saw a video from the outside security camera on a very expensive cabin in the mountains of northern Idaho, and on the video you can see a women open her door to let her little French bull dog out to use the bathroom and she was standing on her porch and in the video (only video, no audio) you can see the little dog go out and start looking for a place to do his business’s d he stops what he’s doing and then starts trotting down the driveway till he gets out of the range of the camera and about 10 seconds later the little dog came hauling ass back up the driveway with about 6 wolves chasing him. They got him and ripped him apart in a ridiculously short amount of time. The lady owner of the house recounted what happened since we couldn’t hear anything on the security camera video.....she said that the dog went to go pee and then she said she heard what sounded like a yappy little dog whining in the woods surrounding the house and driveway and her dog went running down the driveway towards the where the sounds where coming from because he’s just a friendly little dog thinking there was another dog out there...and then all hell broke loose and the dog came running back but not fast enough and the wolves got him. She said it was not the first time it had happened in that area. They lived in the mountains and were far from the city limits and the big cabins and mansions were all spread out so it was very very secluded there and apparently the wolves in the area had been growing more and more comfortable with snatching up pets and pretty much any smaller animal near by. Normally they run from humans as soon as they spot them...unless that human has a pet with them!!!

Nothing but him, nature, and pure responsibility. I could almost get an adrenaline rush.
@Trifectors The G O D So do you not take brain power into you consideration when deciding most dominant species? That seems weird to me.

@@goldenlass9488 we are about the most impressive predator this planet has ever seen with a sharped stick we extincted mamooths.

Interesting, I love wolves and had only encountered a couple in my life. Each time they were on a dead run away from me.
Thanks for post.

I recently saw a video from the outside security camera on a very expensive cabin in the mountains of northern Idaho, and on the video you can see a women open her door to let her little French bull dog out to use the bathroom and she was standing on her porch and in the video (only video, no audio) you can see the little dog go out and start looking for a place to do his business’s d he stops what he’s doing and then starts trotting down the driveway till he gets out of the range of the camera and about 10 seconds later the little dog came hauling ass back up the driveway with about 6 wolves chasing him.
But there are Storys of Wolf attacks on Kids
