Have found that acetone works much faster, but the draw back is its tough on the door gap edges due to thin layers of paint. Good info for beginning customizers. 👍👍👏👏👏

That’s what I use as well. I have used the acetone in the past, but usually destroys the paint. Works well on that weatherd/patina look though. Sometimes

Agree. I stopped using chemicals after finding this method.

I also use the dry erase markers, The only thing that I do different is once I coat it and let it sit for a minute I leave it on there and just use the marker to lightly rub off the tampo. I do wipe it off every so often to see my progress.

So when I was marking up my cars when I was 7, I was actually prepping my cars for excellence.! Man I was ahead of my time. Great Video. I might have to try it this way one day.

I not only use the dry erase markers technique but I use that exact brand. I do let mine set up for a minute or so and I have never had an issue. Great video.

I've tried dry erase, acetone, and once, I tried dollar store oven cleaner, on a car I was planning on stripping. It worked to remove the tampos, and the paint was even shinier, than before. 🤷‍♂️

The ultrahots are fun to use this method on. I started with dry erase markers, but moved over to acetone. My toughest issue has been removing the tampos from the body lines without the paint rubbing off.I even got the skinny tipped cotton swabs. I might try goin back to dry erase for those area's 👍

You use the Expo erase marker method also. It works great.

This was interesting thank you sir.. I think this is how I’m going to start learning to try out my first customs! And maybe wheel swap to begin with anyway. Thanks for showing us this I learned something new today anyway.. Have a great day and we’ll see you on the next one my friend.

Glad it helped. Yeah it’s a good way to do some customs without having to bother with painting. I do usually strip the chrome interior and engine and paint those but that’s up to you.

Another way that I have done it was Some rubbing compound and a buffing wheel on the dremel. The only problem with that way is if you sit in one spot just a hair too long it will eat the paint away such at the door jams and other edges. I watched baremetal do that and I got it to work very nicely a couple times but I also have ruined a few cars.

Nice little tutorial on this process Steve I myself have always used Acetone and while it is harsh smelling if you use small amounts at a time you’ll have much better luck with not stripping the paint. Interesting to hear about you brushing on the clear coat though I thought you always sprayed them lol thanks for sharing Steve! 😎👍🏻

Nice tutorial. Do you get a nice smooth shine brushing on clear coat? That’s an idea for your next tutorial.
    Have a great week! 🫵👍✌️

Good idea. There is a bit of a technique to it. Like spraying, you can get too much or too little on the car. A nice wide soft brush only used for clear coat is important also.

I do use Acetone as well, but the smell is awful and it'll dry out your skin quick, if you make the mistake of not using gloves, like I did.😂
