So it seems no one enjoyed this one quite as much as me but I've always had a soft spot for Arena Brawlers! Will you be taking the gamble on this one? Check out the full comprenhensive written review of the game over at www.xpcorner.net Thanks all!
Agree on this review. The whole “If you do a negative review it MUST be the only honest one” is such nonsense. Both can be honest, but those two or three have different tastes. As long as reasons are given that’s the real meat of the review. I’m with you on this one though, it’s just a fun arena brawler in the DQAOD universe and I’m fine with that. Nice one mate! Mark
yeah, It looks like a good time, just not a GOTY tier great time. And the sad thing is this game really could have been on that level with just a little more effort. The gameplay and graphical engine takes so much from Dragon Quest Heroes, why couldn't they have expanded upon the 2nd titles open world map giving you a choice as to what side stories/one shots from the manga you want to tackle? I expected so much more from the previews that it saddens me more wasn't done.
Is this the English version that states Only english voice & subtitles? Because I’m wondering if this version has Japanese voiceover & the store unable to provide me the answer
I was gonna order a physical from play asia but for the price there just doesnt seem to be enough game. Maybe if it ever drops in price ill grab the ps5 version
I wasn't expecting an open world just more of a trials of mana type of experience where I could stop in towns stock up on equipment and maybe a small overworld with some enemies floating around. Will probably pick it up on sale.
I'm still gonna get this one, but im gonna wait for a sale drop. I mean, it's Dragon Quest though. I gotta get it, even if it's not the best. Honestly, we have so many open world RPG games, I can overlook this one as something different for a change.
It's actually a recent passion for me thanks to the Nintendo Switch, I never got into them before that (unless you would consider power stone an arena brawler!)
I haven't tried this one out yet, but it looks to follow sort of the same hack n slash/action rpg design of other games I typically really enjoy. Another recent similar game like this, that also got sort of panned, is Valkyrie Elysium.
I think the marketing team did this game in. If they had marketed it as an arena brawler the scores might have been higher. I think many were expecting an RPG
@@tberk470 then where did the expectations come from I wonder? The marketing was so slim, we got such a little that if left many to speculate. True we did only the hack and slash side of it. But being DQ and with limited marketing I think many were expecting some form a rpg elements
@@stephenscott9200 it's dragon quest dai, they almost treat it as its own brand with connections to the dragon quest universe. In no way should it have ever been interpreted as a mainline DQ game
This game is freaking great, its perfect for a pick up and play style for the switch..I bought it full price, and I have no regrets but for those waiting for a sale..definitely grab it for sure when its on sale..You really gets your bang for your buck on this one, especially if you like games like Age of calamity
Nothing is stable on switch dude, especially in 2023. Yall switch fans make the most excuses and will call "good performence" even if its 11 fps 480p. If the game BOOTS up yall call it a win
@@jonathansoko1085 I havent seen such a bad performance, but I know some games that have been ported can perform better than others, well as said I think its not that bad usually but depends on games, what games you have seen with really bad performance? just wondering to avoid them of course
I just had fun lol, I'm a fan of arena brawlers I thunk that's obvious with my reviews for demon slayer, my hero etc. It probably skewed my opinion but I've had a great time, hence the 8/10 on xpcorner.net - It's rare I'm the one giving the high score over everyone else
I think the problem is the game looks radically different then when they first announced it and people are taken aback by it. Anyway nice review and are you gonna do a review for Fate/Samurai ?
I've heard the biggest complaint about the game is the story because people call it empty and not as good as other anime games. Personally hearing this is a arena battle game kinda kills it for me. I was hoping it was a real open world action game
so many bad reviews are like "the levels are small and theres no exploration" yeah no duh it's an arena fighter, for better or worse. I dont understant that as a negative aspect, you dont go into a puzzle game and be upset that its all puzzles.
Yep, my written review went live at 4am for me and when I woke up, I was so surprised at the numbers I was seeing. As I said, I'm normally on the low end but I was the highest here. Maybe because I went hands on with it, I had realistic expectations. Taught me a good lesson in, when you do a preview, you need to overcommunicate the style of the game. When I played this 6 months ago, it was one of the first big previews I got to do and I've learnt here, the questions I need to ask
I'm a bit saddened by how this one turned out. I was hoping for a Mix of Breath of the Wild meets Dragon Quest Heroes. The fact that the gameplay consists of arena style brawling is a huge let down. It looks fun enough on its own from a gameplay standpoint, and I love the graphical look of the game, but I'll be getting this one on a sale. Probably a 20% off one rather than waiting for the full 50%.
Hard no for me. Watched the noisy pixel review and what made this one a no go is the storytelling or lack there of. The gameplay isn’t the problem with this game, albeit it being rather stale and limited in scope. I could still have fun with it. But thinking of what could’ve been and then seeing this? Hard pass.
@@importaku He says exactly what’s wrong with it, he mentions the same points like multiple other outlets who have the game a 5 out of 10. The game is sadly complete trash. Gameplay is lackluster and the way the story is being told is abysmal. The only thing it has going for it is the visual presentation of the characters. Even as a diehard DQ and Adventures of Dai fan, this one ain’t it. I’m extremely disappointed. This could and should’ve been so much more.
@@Lock2002fulGameplay is traditionally dynasty warrior titles. If you aren't into that then it won't be for you. I'd say a 6 or a 7 is a more accurate score since it's just that with half of the narrative cut short of Dragon Quest Dai.

It’s not bad at all playing it right now !!!! Everything doesn’t have to be open world and shit . This game is dope !!! Enjoying my time
I’ll grab it on sale for sure! This will be enough to tide me over until Dragon Quest Monsters is released.

Usually, the negative reviews are more reliable. Because they aren't being blinded by nostalgia or buyer's fallacy. Not always, but usually
Thank you for the awesome review! I'm loving it too
I got it before I started watching all these vids. Whether I play it or not I’m glad to support DQ. Monsters and XII is what I’m waiting for!
Is there a PAL version on PS4? I can't seem to find it? I'm I missing something here?

I think i will pick this up this weekend. I love anime arena fightees. Used to play senran kagura which uses a similar playstyle to this one.
I think there's 2 camps people who wanted a jrpg are annoyed and those who knew it was a anime game and happy with a anime game.

Same here, just gonna wait for a price drop

I think a lot of reviewers are yet again, being too critical on this game. (Not talking about SwitchCorner) just in general.
I've given it the highest score yet lol, I loved it, 8/10 on xpcorner.net - I'm normally on the low end.
Welp... time to read the manga again. 😅
Yes
Ok so sounds like rhis is more gameplay similar to senran kagura a 3d arena brawler with massive long story parts
I don’t have problems with it. Well on Xbox. But a lot have problems for whatever reasons. People just have to hate on anything.
Basically its like dai no daibouken on mobile but with open world option
Except there is no open world
I'll get it when its $20.
Isnt a game for me, just not my style. Appreciate the indepth look at it.
It's these games of third party that make me hope Switch 2 will be more powerful. *which obvious it will be.
To many reviews on this game wanna rate it based on the normal dragon quest games. Stop it people . Rate games by playing the game for what it is.
