    The fact that he is using a majority of outboard gear to do most of the processing is insane! He is more or less just using the desk for faders & some basic EQ.

    • @soundman00
      @soundman00 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes there are a couple channels that have some dynamics on them but maybe five or six total… You are correct almost everything is done on the analog outboard side except for eq

    Got to hangout with theses guys and Chad for two weeks as I helped with the band as they did this tour stage and sound dress rehearsal somewhere deep on the far westside of Chicago. Then they packed up the gear and went to Wrigley Field to open the tour. What a blast!!

    No wonder Fall Out Boy have that incredible dynamic sound live. It's all analogue processing! Does he change parameters on all those devices manually? Does he print a list of which settings for which songs etc?

    • @soundman00
      @soundman00 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I run this in a very old-school kind of fashion… Any changes that need to be made are done manually by me… I’m lucky that it’s mostly just small tweaks nothing too dramatic, and yes, I used to have a list of all the changes but after this many years, I have them ingrained in my mind probably until the day I die lol

    Uses $100k console so he can run another $100k worth analog gear. I really dont understand what the Digico is needed for in a case like this. Seems he could easily accomplish the same quality on something else considering hes not using really ANYTHING onboard the Digico. The Digico is basically only mixing signals, not processing.....

    • @soundman00
      @soundman00 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Could maybe do it with a couple other pieces but the routing of a bunch of stuff between FOH and Mons would be hard at best on other desks, and I am using most of the pre-amps, I only have 2 external pre's

    • @LaminarSound
      @LaminarSound 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@soundman00 fair enough Chad. I suppose i shouldnt assume you wouldnt read comments. Lol i am curious though, is the monitor console not just getting a digital split? Or are you sending signals to that desk after your outboard processing?

    • @soundman00
      @soundman00 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LaminarSoundit’s mostly the talk back routing. We have something like 16 or 18 talkbacks going all over the place it’s honestly about the most complex part of our set up.

    • @conorm2524

      Another thing to think about is the reliability and support available from Digico worldwide. They have that nailed down. Not to mention - any territory you tour in will have a Digico should something ever go down.
      The routing is amazing though.

    • @actifycreative4563
      @actifycreative4563 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I mean at the end of the day, the answer for less musicians is we want more money in our pockets. Nothing wrong with that, but that’s most definitely the real answer. No reason you cant sub contract local string and horn players to give them a new big opportunity.

    • @michaelreyes9997
      @michaelreyes9997 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Sub contracting local strings and horns would be a total nightmare
      Way to many things that can go wrong and when it does it’s gonna the band who is leaving their reputation in the hands of people they don’t even know and have no way of keeping them accountable
      The money is the easy part of the equation, it has nothing to do with greed
