At least these guys aren't so pretentious that they have their techs filling in for them. I dig the stories the artists share about their gear as much as the instruments themselves. Great RR PG!!
@@shitforbrains5038 There’s a few who have let their techs do the interview. Instead of the actual artist being there to do it. Like Pete in this episode. Off hand I can recall Gavin Rossdale wasn’t present for his either. And I’m a fan and hung out with him. So not throwing shade, just stating the fact. 😂
I really appreciate Patrick's perspective. The way he speaks shows he really has the experience and knows his stuff (obviously), but he's also humble about it and comes at the digital vs. analog debate in a great way. Seems like a great guy to work with.
I always loved the first FOB Rig Rundown since that was one of the first videos I ever watched and is still one of my personal favourites so this one was cool to see with Patrick's Guilds and Pete's new StingRays
Saw them last year, and Patrick used one guitar for the whole show, I think Joe maybe used 2. It was so cool and caught me off guard. It was the red S60d
Joe and Patrick are the reason I play guitar, I remember seeing them live one time randomly and it was the first time I remember thinking, oh two guitars playing different parts (rhythm and lead) and the fact they just look like regular guys made me want to get in it. I think they inspired more musicians than they think.
Love these guys real dudes , first time I heard their music I was shopping in an A&F is shopping mall , the check out stand had a now playing stand with the CD they were spinning . I became a fan .
I was going through my black/death metal phase when FOB entered the fray but they were kind of just a big part of my adolescence and now that I'm 33 and looking back, I can appreciate their music. Great band.
Same, but I really wish that Gretsch would have listened to Patrick when they made the Stumpomatic. I own a Stumpomatic and there's much left to be desired in that 3 pickup solution! Love the guitar (Corvette) hate the 3 pickups, rotary switch, kill switch, and middle pickup blend control. Seriously, I can't even tell when the middle pickup is on or off! Controls are cramped and confusing!
I've played that Continental in NYC. And the side street was closed for a movie set. The kid guarding the entrance to the street moved the cones and let us park 10 feet into the street. So we didn't have to panic looking for parking.... It was the best moment of my touring life.
We saw Fall Out Boy on the Hella Mega Tour with Green Day and Weezer. We weren't very familiar with FOB's music, but man they put on a great show! Became instant fans.
My 1st guitar (which I very much regret not still having) was a new S300D back in 1975! I think it's quality was the reason I stuck with learning the guitar all those years ago.
For those wondering about the "black goose with a red eye," it's a Loon; unsure the meaning for Pete personally but chances are he's seen a few in his lifetime being from Chicago. The loon is the state bird of Minnesota and it's a type of duck that is black with white spots and red eyes. They're pretty neat to see and they sound pretty cool as well!
Super cool to hear Gabe’s get a shoutout! Would be cool to see a segment on the historic venues like that one! The Iowa City music scene is a great one!
Somehow there's another 1984 plumburst (it was actually called Night Violet) Explorer on Reverb as I'm writing this with Hetfield-style EMGs. So if Joe wants a backup lol.
The Explorer is a Custom Shop *EDITION*, which means it's just a custom color run in this case. The custom Shop didn't open until late 1993 and this is from the 80s.
What tunings do the guys use? I've heard their bass tech say "D Standard is one of them", but when I saw FOB last time it felt more like Drop C or even lower. Their live sound is crazy heavy compared to the studio sounds!
I don't know anything about guitars and I have no idea what they're talking about but this is so interesting. Also, I'm a simple girl: I see FOB and I click.
If you follow the link to our website it shows a workflow of Joe's core tone, but here's what tech Ben Young had to say on the Axe-Fx II setup: "The Fractal is set up where we have a different patch for each song, and then use scenes for each section of the songs. I have a template with all our dialed in amps and effects for everything. All the amp sounds are based off a JCM800 for our mid gain “crunch” sound, and a Dual Rectifier for our classic Fall Out Boy heavy sound. We also have a Friedman amp and a “brown sound” amp for other higher gain options that we’ve been using on newer songs and a Matchless for clean stuff."
Between there (temporarily renamed the Picador) and Blue Moose, I saw so many of my formative rock shows at GO in Iowa City - long live the Washington St-Gilbert St spot!
Patrick is now playing Guild S-60D and S-300 models onstage, but contends that he still uses his Gretsch G5135CVT-PS Patrick Stump Electromatic Stump-o-Matic CVTs in the studio.
Though I appreciate Patrick's point on working with digital to save time in his productions, I still don't feel it for a live setting. I understand the practicality when travelling and stuff, but the amp is the amp. Great video anyway.

This was a real treat - I hope everyone enjoys this Rundown!
This was such a good interview, thanks for asking great questions in all of these too!
@@WheelBirbz Thanks for the kind words - appreciate the support!
Cool shirt dude 😎
Half way through with no guitar playing but such valuable insights
You do your work phenomenally Chris, always a pleasure watching these!
When Joe looked up in the air after saying the Explorer was sold, I felt that too
Take a drink every time Patrick says "You Know".
You would fall out, boy… I counted at LEAST 145 “ya know’s”
He even had Chris doing it😂
I didn’t even bother with the “like’s an um’s”
i"m drunk in just 3 minutes...
went to the comments to look for this lmao
I know fifteen years ago this would have made me go crazy, but right now I'm just happy to see this info.

the ALL- Mass Nerder shirt goes so hard from Patrick.
Came here to say that-gd I love that album!
I have many band shirts. The only ones I ever get compliments on are the ALL ones. So many people love Descendants/ALL.
Joe’s such a charismatic and hilarious dude
Yeah that stood out to me as well. I heard he has a book out. I am curious to read it.
I don’t know shit about guitars but fall out boy… I’m Sat
It's rarely a train wreck! - so true, Joe. We love everything you guys do. We're appreciating the deep cuts more than you can ever know!
love this extensive interview but also loving the every time I die shirt. miss that band
That Joe receiving a guitar as a gift from his wife story is so sweet ❤
Patrick seems like a really down to earth dude. Love that he's wearing an ALL Mass Nerder shirt.
Fall Out Man

Lots of useful info in this series of interviews. Thank you!!

I just read Joe’s book. It’s nice to see him talk about gear
I was going through my black/death metal phase when FOB entered the fray but they were kind of just a big part of my adolescence and now that I'm 33 and looking back, I can appreciate their music. Great band.
I actually own one of Joe’s previous personal guitars when he was still with Washburn. This was fun to watch!
Is it the Blue one?
Or maybe the white "blood splatter" one?
@@djr_drums the baby blue one with cream binding, single Humbucker, keyhole inlays.
I dont even really like fall out boy but whenever I see a rig rundown thumbnail that has a guitar that I don't recognize. I'm clicking.
Same but for every rig rundown in general
Same here, but more interested in bass rigs

Fall out boy are amazing.. respect ur opinion but they are amazing
My first guitar was a Guild S300-D and it's so dope seeing Patrick rock a Guild!
Enjoyed this very much! I love these in depth interviews bc I feel like we learn so much more about their process which is most interesting to me
Be a new signature model for Patrick
Bet you the punk rock “Lollar” pickup is the raw power.. which is the James Williamson pickup they did! Have it in my fender cyclone and I love it.
You are correct!

YEEEEE FOB RIG RUNDOWN! 👌🏽👌🏽 love the guitars Patrick and Joe use
I thought the tech for Pete was him for a second. I was so confused how different he looked. 😂😂
I KNEW Patrick was using Guild guitars, but I wasn't sure until right now. Great to know I wasn't crazy lol
Drinking Game: you have a shot every “You know” Patrick says!
Bro, you'd die if you took a drink of WATER every time he said it😂
Bruh i need joe to speak more in interview or have more solo interview cuz he’s hilarious 😂 idk i just love hearing him talk and he’s so relatable
My favorite band. Seeing Patrick's perspective and insight on things was pretty interesting.
This was a great interview. Had no idea how into the gear these guys are.
16:37 this makes me feel better as a musician and producer not being able to sing to pitch without a reference
perfect pitch vs relative pitch
@@Andrew_182 I know what it is. Thank you though.
Every time i hear a grown man say he has small hand , i think of all these little kids that just rip on any random guitar.
I think about the guy who plays with an actual stump. Probably because this guys name is stump
Playing guitar with small hands is not that big of a deal. It can be disadvantageous on a long scale bass or piano tho.
those little kids don't make some 6-10 month tour. Shit gets tiresome and after some nights all you want to do is play an ukulele lol
That is awesome and great for Halo guitars, didn't expect Mr. Stump to get one
Way to give Gabe's Oasis a shout out! Legendary venue!
Love this type of stuff 🤍

ALL!
I especially love that they use some very inexpensive guitars and basses like the Sterling by Music Man and the Squire.
What tunings do the guys use? I've heard their bass tech say "D Standard is one of them", but when I saw FOB last time it felt more like Drop C or even lower. Their live sound is crazy heavy compared to the studio sounds!
a lot of that is probably just down tuning some songs so they’re easier for patrick to sing. most of their studio stuff is just standard or drop d
they drop most of their songs to drop d or a key lower for patrick to sing!
2:50 wow that’s a once in a lifetime Mr.Bean Opening moment
I was wondering why I couldn't find any of my favorite guilds... THIS GUY HAS EM ALL lol
