Hoo yeah! Man, this was such a fun way to kick off the weekend! This remix video is just loaded with upbeat energy that keeps the nostalgia intact while livening it up with modern flair! 🏎
Regarding the instrumentation, I really like that you kept that familiar, sort of folksy charm intact throughout much of the piece. It feels like a hallmark element of the original, so it's nice to see the accordion (or melodica?) and fiddle sounds being represented here. But the addition of those synthetic leads really takes it to the next level. I especially love that segment at 2:41 with those note bends in the octave jumps, with an even more pronounced iteration at 2:55 - it sounds super funky and colorful! And all the little details throughout, like the flourishes in the milder section at 1:56 that answer the main melody. There's a lot more subtlety in this remix, and I like that even the gentlest parts can be heard distinctly - a real testament to your incredible mixing efforts and abilities! Also, as others have mentioned, the bass is a real feature element here, with that characteristic bouncy and robust sound that your low-end elements are known for.
The percussive elements are every bit as tight, too, and the buildups in this piece are among my favorite of yours. After a rather relaxed and easygoing first verse, you really ramp things up in Lap 2, and the buildup at 0:55 perfectly conveys that a big shift is incoming! And once again, the rising energy beginning at 2:20 builds lots of hype leading into the final lap, where all the stops are pulled out, with that infectiously fun Dance beat! It's that feeling of being in 1st place near the end of a race, where life is good, and Blue Shells are nowhere on the horizon! 😁
Heh, that note about your driving in MKDS gave me a good laugh. Honestly, the physics of that game feel so much different, going back to it, and Delfino Plaza in particular has some unforgiving corners (especially that side-alley shortcut). Still, it was fun to see gameplay footage from the OG Delfino Plaza, and I really enjoyed how you transitioned to the MKWii course in tandem with the transition to a modern style in the music - those coordinated shifts in your remix videos always make me smile! 😊

This really brings me back to my childhood! MKWii was my first game ever, and me being young and all didn't understand the thing about Nitro tracks and Retro tracks, so I remember thinking it was so damn weird seeing this in DS as well! Awesome remix as always!
Oh man the amount of hours I spent on MKWii alone, it would be well in the 1000's! Personally I think Wii's Nitro & Retro courses were some of the best combination that I never got bored playing this game! Thank you bro!! 😎

Mario kart ds was my first Mario kart and I was immediately smitten! The missions and fun tracks were spectacular and I enjoyed this game and this remix!

I remember playing this course a lot as a kid. My favorite thing to do was to stay in last place to get a bullet bill and then do that one jump to the left before the shopping area
