Hey Phil, thank you for making these videos. Finally took the time to watch the entire series! I'm starting an autobody apprenticeship in August

Many thanks Phil, the whole series has been really useful. Very interesting to see how a pro body shop guy approaches same work in a home garage. Really struck me how much time you put into each stage of the work - I've not given nearly enough time to this kind of work in the past. Loads of useful tips, like the back-masking approach, all great. Don't understand the few grumpy comments on some of your episodes, and I hope you get lots more subscribers!

Hey again Phil, so if I understand correctly your "cut" was done with the sandpaper + pneumatic DA? And you then polished with the battery-powered Milkwaukee? Any particular reason for using a small rotary polisher with a narrow pad, instead of a random-orbital DA? I still don't quite understand the various types of polishers that are available.

You are correct, I did my initial cut with the DA air sander, and then the compound and polish with the Milwaukee rotary polisher. As far as the type of polishers go, it mostly comes down to personal preference. I have used dual action and gear driven polishers at a few paint seminars, and they do a fantastic job as well. When I got started in the trade, the shop I was working at had rotary polishers, which I became proficient and familiar with. The downside to a rotary is that you can quickly damage a panel if you are not being careful, or aren't familiar with their operation. Dual action polishers are a safer bet for people who aren't doing this kind of work every day.

Your measurements are far too inconsistent. You went from metric to freedom units and it confused me. But that was an awesome vid, keep up the great work you nerd
