I just bought a S9 FE yesterday, here in Brazil, at least on Amazon both devices are around the same price. I was surprised by you saying that there's a 100 USD gap there. Thank you for the review.
Tbf I wouldn't recommend it even for 100 less, it's really expensive for the specs it has
It's definitely not worth it here in Brazil, as it's new the price is very high. But it's a good opportunity to catch s9 fe.

I still have the original S6Lite I still love it's midpoint between bang for buck and portability . Ibis paint is also my go to quick app for drawing

I have the original Tab S6 Lite since it came out and its still going strong
I have it too, display is ghosting and performance is abysmal. Even opening the control panel is laggy. No biometric unlock
The only upgrades are 64GB storage instead of 32GB and a marginally better CPU. The Tab S9 FE/FE+ on sale will give you better value (more RAM and storage and a noticeably better CPU).
I have the Tab S6 Lite 2022 and I'd rather wait for the S10 FE (or the FE+ if that's a thing).
I have the lite 6 from 2020, thing runs like ass. Hopefully gonna upgrade it soon.

I bought s9 like for 500 dollars in my country fe costs almost same, i think you can buy s9 if you find with a good price because probably s10 series will be much more expensive

I'm surprised that they decided to do a rerelease again, I got the 2022 version last year and it has been working well. But I agree with the other comments if you have a bit more budget you should get the tab s9 FE when it's on sale. However I'm sure this will also be on sale eventually and maybe this can be enough for some people.
I also have a similar experience as Brad, sometimes you do see a bit of lag with the interface and sometimes it runs just perfect, the speakers are great, it has a headphone jack, micro SD slot. I have used it for simple sketches/drawings on Krita for now, I'm happy with it.
A few months ago, I bought the 2022 version of the S6 Lite, and it's really perfect for my needs. I got it for about the same price as this one seems to be now, because back then, it wasn't out yet and was supposed to be almost double the price. I don't regret it at all (and with what I heard about the S9 FE now, I probably wouldn't ever have got this anyway.) Mine's nice and portable and perfectly fits all my needs. :3

It's great that you talked about how the devices handle large files, I draw in A3 600 dpi or in 24x36 300 dpi using an s7fe + and madibang paint , without lags or crashes.

Some programs have an option to not allow you to draw finger lines when the pen is in range, Clip Studio and ibis Paint have this and it CHANGED MY LIFE!!! I have an Older 6s Lite and the Layers are it's weakness, I tend to draw single page Images, and I have a limit of around 30-40 layers in Clip Studio Paint before it starts Crying running out of memory but I STILL LOVE IT, but I do need to transfer my more complex works to my Laptop or Desktop version and us the PC version of Clip to finish. This situation makes this the PERFECT sketch book I ALWAYS carry it with me in case I get inspired of feel like working on a Sketch or line art

Impressive little device. Its amazing how you get so much for such a great deal. I still prefer Apple, but I would argue this is probably the best tablet to get for a beginner getting into digital art. Side note please tell me your going to publish this graphic novel!! Would love to check it out if you do.
Haha, sooo the graphic novel... I'm pretty early in the process (like page 4) so It's at least 2 years away. But it's something I wanted to do and so I figured I would draw panels from it in reviews and just slowly chip away at it while making videos.

For pro work anyway it's better a desktop (saying this while being a proud owner of a S7 FE). The FE (anything from 7 to 9) line is really good, the S7 FE has great audio, it's snappy, great consumer device. I don't really see the point for professional work, though (many reasons why, don't want to make this comment longer). A pro monitor (and some Benqs are very close to that, yet affordable) and a classic tablet, or a pen display if you can't handle pen tablets, is so much better for actual work. Even an average 16.1"/17" laptop and a pen tablet provides with better 'professional' usage, and still fit in a bag. The FE line, and for same reasons, also the expensive line: the S9 Ultra, Plus, etc, the whole thing, really, is fun, and nice for sketching on the go, but for that - specifically pencil sketching- I have found that Amazon's Scribble (but really only for B/W/greys pencil sketching) is almost better, cheaper and better for your eyesight (no aggressive back light). Indeed, despite the propaganda, Scribble is much more responsive for drawing than a Remarkable, having deeply tested both (I happily kept the Scribble). Also more responsive in the pen strokes than Supernote, as well. While also good and comfy for books, tutorials reading (which you can just copy by USB port, no need to buy on Amazon), etc. Then again... Having lately doubts about if just picking a moleskine or a less trendy/money-grabbing old paper notebook, is not only just as good, but much better (for on-the-go sketching). Kind of more pleasant.

nah the pricing is too close, in our country s9 fe only cost 20$ more, while iPad 9 VS 10 VS air has huge price gap

Great review, thanks! Just bought the S9 FE with 256GB storage for €50 more than the new S6 Lite. The 256Gb S9 FE has 8Gb of RAM, instead of the 6GB the 128Gb version has, which makes it very useable for larger files too. Paired with the higher refresh rate, quite a bit faster cpu/gpu and just a little larger screen, it's worth the extra €50, but even if it only was the 8Gb over 4/6Gb, it's worth it to me. Seeing this review confirms for my personal needs I made the better choice.
hi brad, i heard that a displaylink dock could be used to output hdmi from the Galaxy tab s9 fe. do you happen to own one?
if so could you please test the tablet with a huion pen display?
I love the tablet so much, but it's kinda a deal breaker that i can't connect it to my huion for larger screen.

I use the almost 5 year old non-Lite Galaxy Tab S6 as a daily device and love it. This is the SuperAMOLED 10.5" screen one, which is still better than almost everything else. It's got 8GB Of RAM/256GB, WiFi. The Snapdragon 855 processor makes it a multitasking dream, especially Since OneUI 4.1 update. I found it refurbed/New unboxed for slightly over $300 two years ago. Since I have this for similar money, it's hard to get excited about the Lite with much lesser specs
I have the 2020 lite and it's bad now. Used to be quite good for my needs but now slow performance and display is ghosting

I have been drawing for 20+ years but i newer have done digital art is s6 lite sufficient to start learning digital art or should i go for something like s9 fe?
I just recently purchased this as my 1st pen tablet, paid around 240 euros of it. For that price point, it was a no-brainer. It performs really well and drawing is very responsive. I've had no issues with palm detection, I've just turned that on in every app I use, if they have it. Battery performance is solid as well, though I don't really use it on anything else than sketching and digital inking.
Any chances we will get process of you making your comic? As a digital maker myself I’d love to see those steps and why you take them.

I have a 6 Lite just as a throw around tablet to just carry and have for email and watching YT, but it's great to know I can do a bit of doodling on it. I have last years, I guess, so I hope it still works well for it.
As soon as I get my Tab s9fe I'll buy a beginners course.. I just want to be able to draw my ideas much clearer and with perspective 😅

@@Charmeddiscord absolutely!! it was the first portable art tablet that i got with a screen that i used for starting out. got mine in 2020 and its still decently good but be wary there is a bit of lag on it with the newer firmware and such, but using it for art is still pretty good i'd say. but if you want a bit more performance i'd go for 2022 / or 2024 :]

How would you say this stacks up to the XP Pen Magic Drawing pad? I know it's more expensive, but spec/experience wise?
I chose xppen magic drawing 500$. 12 inch, 8\256gb, matte screen and the most important was that they have a TUV certification that doesn't make my eyes to burn and no headache

I recently got a Galaxy Tab s9 FE for $350. That seems to be the new normal sales price for it. I think that almost makes the s6 lite obsolete. Surely you get a lot more for only $100. But if the s6 starts going down in price it might be more attractive especially for kids or less demanding users.

Does this come with 6 months of Clip Studio like my S8 Ultra did? That should be factored into the price of so.
Lets just said I have a computer where I can apply 6 month free then start to pay a wopping 1dolar per month for CSP. So for me at least, the comment on "factored price" is not that real.
The fact that also the program is about 50usd permanent for pc...
Do not recommend this tablet at all, especially when the Tab S9 FE exists and is almost always on sale for around the same price as the S6 Lite.
this also gets a lot of discounts you can find it for 250 - 300€ quite frequently. s9 fe 10' is usually wrround 450 - 500 € where i live so yea its still an awsome deal for someone that needs something cheap
I got a 2022 S6 Lite secondhand for hundred of dollars less than the cheapest secondhand S9 FE, and I'm happy with it! If someone was looking to buy one brand new, then maybe that's when I'd suggest opting for secondhand S9 FE instead, or sure, if there's a sale that does make them the same price (not in my country, lol). May as well get more bang for your buck if you are spending the same amount, absolutely.
@@LeilaniKrenn I've owned the 2020 and 2022 S6 Lite, they're not necessarily *bad* especially given the price point but where I live (US) there's frequent sales here and they're almost always around the same price (FE being like $30 - $50 bucks more)
The s6 lite has regularly been on sale at much lower than the s9 fe. I have the 2020 version and it still does its job well. Unless you really need the extra RAM, the S9 FE is hard to recommend over this.
Currently on sale, S6 lite costs 240$ while S9 Fe is 350$
It's not for me but it's probably for someone. I think they could do a better job with naming to help people not accidentally buy older versions.
For anyone that got this thing for free like me and just want to know if it's worth keeping. Yeah it's decent. Doesn't need to be compared to anything else because of it's price. Can't speak for the art side of things but in general use it's pretty solid.

I'm making a webcomic on the tab s 8 ultra on ibis and the file sizes are huuuge! But the ultra handles it pretty well. Love the tab s line!
Just bought one that im gonna use for my cartoon projects still need time to get use to the program im using coloring seems way harder to do digitally the whole masking thing confuses me maybe you could do a coloring tuturial? 😂 PS the apps have a ignore fingers settings

slightly better performance with exynos 1280, but i recommend the s9 fe as the bare minimum
Adobe Sketchbook is actually good for Tab S6 Lite , especially because you can block touches by fingers when the S-pen is within 1 cm / 0.3 inch nearby the screen

for 1/3 price of this samsung s6 2024 i bought lenovo P11 gen2. And i still believe its a better device for any creative person. Yes Spen is better but ntrig aint that bad. More screen space, better colors, similar performance, more ram.

Re releasing the same product with the same name is such a slime move. It makes it super hard to shop around especially used as you may get a much worse product than reviews suggested if you end up with an old model. They update all phones, tablets etc with a new S number each year so why is this not just, an S7,8 or 9 lite?
The only thing I really miss in my S6 Lite 2022 is the fingerprint reader. Otherwise it is an excellent tablet, fingerprint reader is the only thing that would make me think about upgrading.

@@kycerap204 no, the opposite. I would like to have a fingerprint reader in Tab S6 Lite. In fact, I recently bought a Galaxy Tab S8+ on a sale solely because I want a fingerprint reader.
I like that they are keeping this budget S-Pen model alive... however... they need to do more than just upgrading the SoC. If they make a 2026 S6 Lite it needs to have 6gb of ram and a 90hz panel... because right now, at $310, this model doesn't make any sense, I can buy the S9 FE for only slightly more.

Yes it will be just fine, you could consider the 2022 version, it's probably a bit cheaper.
What apps are included
It has the basic google apps and some Samsung apps (you can uninstall some of them, or disable if you don't use them).
on my country the s9 fe is 510$ and s6 lite is 440$

I'd probably get an android device, but there are no quality Vector apps on android such as Fresco/Illustrator/Affinity Designer.... Concepts 2024 is weird for vector as it brings in messy lines. Oh! And I don't want to use a glove, so I guess I'm stuck with the iPad.
At this point in 2024, the S6 lite in any version only makes sense if you are going to use it exclusively for drawing, because in the rest of the functions the Xiaomi Pad 6 (270 USD 256 GB + 50 USD pen) or the Lenovo M11 are infinitely better.
Samsung has been stingy in updating its product.
What's it like for media
it's a 1080p+ (1200x2000) LCD screen, it's pretty good, nothing wrong with it. The speakers are great.

The cpu itself would be good enough for low settings, but the 4GB RAM is gonna be a huge bottleneck for Genshin and with only 64GB of storage Genshin will eat a big chunk of available space
Nope s6 lite doesn't stand a chance at all. Tab s9 fe is so much better

Storage is also MUCH better on S9 FE and S9 FE+
@@mocking_bird.s Well I mean you can still run the game but it will stutter a lot when loading textures because it will run out of RAM. Tab s9 FE will stand the game just fine and the regular S9 will crush genshin no problem.
At similar price, I'd recommend the Xiaomi Pad 6 if you want to play games on the tablet.

Im finally replacing my tablet, i have an older s7 model and my tablet is around 5 years old. My computer also died recently so im looking for a product that can replace Both (im not a big computer person thow and dont do heavy stuff on it.) and i dont know what to buy, i have had an ipad and likes the programs but didnt like the appel pencil. I loved my older s7 and the s pen but i miss procreate
