@@SpaceCadet4Jesus You’re welcome. Very soon I will be posting one about 10 Things I love about the Promaster, because I’m definitely not trying to steer anyone away! Thank you so much for watching 😊
I also got the low roof Promaster because I 'm only 5' 1", but got the longer 136" for my camper van. I needed room for two small dogs as well as myself, so a double bed was necessary. I also wanted it to fit in the parking area under my house here on Topsail Island, which it does, just barely (whew!). I got the swivel seats, which have armrests for both seats, and I got the digital rear view mirror since I have no rear windows. Having gotten used to intelligent cruise control in my Subaru, I got that as well all the other safety features available. I added a handle inside at the sliding door as a grab bar, which really helps getting in and out ( I also added running boards). I agree about the low cup holders and the window not rolling down, short arms and a high seat don't work too well at drive ups. I really love my van though, just as you do yours. I'm more physically capable than you, so I've been able to do all the work myself and I am close to having it ready for my first trip. There will still be lots more to do, but that will be wonderful. Wishing you good times, I enjoy following your story.
@@janetn246 Nice! For my swivel, I just got the base and used the factory seat so for now, no arm rest! Almost everyone is more physically capable than me lol. I’ve done everything myself except running boards, swivel and window installs. I built the wheel well boxes, put in shore power, put in the digital rear view, built out some cabinets, installed some wall mount tables and lemme see what else 😆. But some things are very taxing on me and although I know I can do the insulation, walls and ceiling, it would be hard on me. I have more ability than strength anymore, though that’s not saying much! I’m limited by energy, stamina, strength, ability, money, weather and pain threshold. That’s why it’s taking me forever!
I can only imagine, like anything unless totally custom built would have 'things' that are less than likeable. I'm happy you have found a van that serves your need. THANK YOU for sharing.
@@janetfolkerts5827 Yes. As I always say, nothing can be perfect. The purpose of this video was solely to provide feedback to the many viewers I’ve had over the year who expressed interest in this make, model and wheelbase. I completely love and enjoy this van, no worries! 😉
Thank you for sharing these! So many I can relate to 🤣 When I first started looking at the ProMaster, I was offered a 158 wheel base for a great price, but after driving it, realized it drove too much like a "truck". The turning radius was awful. So I bought a 136 wheel base and absolutely love the maneuverability. Probably not as good as your 118, but the extra space allows me to store more "stuff", including a mini motorbike 😍. The height problem is a difficulty, but I've found it an odd blessing. If I can't go through drive-through, I'm less likely to eat fast-food :D It's actually helped me lose some weight! The window situation is, indeed, a PITA. No reason for that. (also, get yourself some window wind-deflectors. They will allow you to crack the window if it rains, which makes a huge difference in quality of life sometimes) As a 5'4" woman, I agree that first step up and down from the van is stupid tall. Running boards made a world of difference. I did have to install a hand-grab for the rear, though. For pests (especially rodents in the winter), use a diluted spray of peppermint oil and water. Mice ate my electrical cords TWICE before finding this solution and I've not had an issue since. I spritz the engine bay and wheel wells once a week in deep winter, once every-other week in the fall and spring, and just don't bother in the summer. You can find a large bottle of peppermint oil on amazon and a small squirt bottle for under $20. I use 20 drops of oil per bottle of water that lasts a couple of months. It's been 3 years and I still have over half the peppermint oil left. 100% recommend.
@@luvnotvideos Very good! Yes, i do plan to get the rain guards for the windows. I’ve heard that about the peppermint spray. I’m going to have to get some. I will admit sometimes I wish I had the 136 WB as I run out of real estate but I do love my itty bitty van! Thanks so much for watching!

Keep in mind that adding insulation to the ceiling and floors will cause you to lose several inches in headroom, so ask the autobody shop how thin they can go with it. @@karenmcginty9614 Thanks! That’s good advice but i have inches to spare somehow. You’re very welcome. Thank you for watching. 😊
I had a 2019 Promaster it had a no fix recall which had to do with the van would slip out of park. It never happened to me but I got taken to the cleaners in trading it in. That must be their solution to fixing the parking situation.
I think I heard something about that. 😮 No Bueno!
You're not old and broken, you're seasoned and broken in 😉. A little less for wear but still manageable.
@@JNante I beg to differ lol. Thanks though, and thanks for watching! 😊
Two of the problems I have that are the same are.. windows don't go all the way down!! 🙄
Also, the cup holders are way too low.
What I wish I had, are the side bar steps. One day I'll give in and buy them. 😊 Thanks for sharing Dawn! 😊
Thanks for watching, Cindy! Yeah I couldn’t get into my van without something to boost me up, except drivers side, but it wasn’t easy!
I have a 2500 and the mirrors drive me crazy. I bought little round mirrors and installed them on the bottom outside of the large mirrors. Now i can see the length of the van. The step up into the van is s big step. I've thought about running boards but haven't bought them yet. Otherwise, like you, I love my van too. Great video
@@lynettebaumgartner6201 Thank you so much. The running boards were a game changer. With my knees and weak legs, it was impossible without them. Now I can easily and safely get into the van. You won’t regret it! I had the dealer put them on. Other than rear windows and swivel base, they were the only things I didn’t do myself.
@VanityBitty did you buy the running boards from the dealership?
@ No, I bought them from amazon. If you find the video where I had them installed, there will be a link to which ones.
@@VanityBitty wonderful. I will look the video.
@ I’ll save you the trouble, I put a link in the description of this video. I should have done that anyway, I’ve been to lax with that kind of thing lately!
I'm in Sumter county and have the same problems with frogs. Where did you get the frog repellant?
@@tafferloncunningham7421 OMGosh, really??! I never heard of this before, now I’ve heard of 2 other people. What IS IT that makes them want to get in the van? I’ve lived in my house over 30 years and never had anything in any of my vehicles until I got the van. Crazy! I ordered it on AMAZON. It’s called TOADAL. I also got a net so when I see them, I can try to catch and release. It’s expensive, and idk yet if it works but time will tell. It’s a horrible problem to have, they give me the creeps!
Use a truck wash.....loves, pilot etc
Now there’s an idea. I didn’t think of that. I’ve never seen a truck wash near my location but there probably is and I never noticed. Thank you! ☺️
I want a Ford Transit but I won't be looking for at least a year. I will definitely look at the height. I want to wait until I turn 62 then I can retire part time and work part time. I live west of Savannah. My plan is to live in a subsidized senior apartment then buy the van.
How exciting! Good luck with that. Thank you for watching 😊
Hi I think the truck stops might have a bigger truck wash
Thank you! I’m going to see if I can find one in my area. I hadn’t thought of that before! Thanks for watching ☺️
I will there were better options for steps than just running boards that are so narrow that it is dangerous to step on them when coming out of the van.
@@nwlady1844 I do wish I had bought wider ones, but I’m very careful and they really are a gamechanger for me. There are some wider ones available, if I recall. But you’re not wrong! Thanks for watching. 😊
Hopefully in January you'll be able to attend Lulu's Florida meetup.
@@JNante Now that sounds like a good time! 😊
is she on facebook
Thank you
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching. ☺️
Surprised no one else dislikes the low fuel indicator. Why would it quit showing miles to empty once it gets to 30 miles?
Oohhhh. I’ve never seen that but I don’t think I’ve ever gotten that low! That’s definitely on the list then 😄
“To wash the Jacksonville off my van” 🤣
LOL. I didn’t mean to make it sound like that 😂. I meant the road grime from the long trip up there and back. Thanks for watching. 😊
Can you tell me how much space you have for your bikes in the back? Is it 12"?
@@michele2017promastertravel Next time I go out there I will measure exactly but I left the entire space from the wheel well to the back doors, keep in mind I have wheel well boxes built but they are tight to it so take away about an inch and a half from that. One wheel of the trike fits under the bed. I have to sort of lift the bed just a smidge because the bed legs have since flattened the thick foam cargo matt down a little bit and it’s just shy of fitting under there on it’s own anymore. My bed frame also slides forward if I needed more room but just lifting it a tiny bit and putting one wheel under the bed allows for me to close the doors. I will come back and provide a measurement once I go out and measure it.
@@VanityBitty thanks.
Excellent.
GTK but you’re right that none is a big deal. Glad u still love your van.
Always! Thanks for watching ☺️
I suppose the reason you have gripes about
the van is because it's sold as a cargo van or work van, not as a van intended to live in
@@emitissimo7618 I don’t really have gripes, persay. And I don’t live in it - it’s a camper van. 🙄 None of the bothersome issues had anything to do with the cargo area. Anyway, thanks for watching!
New subscriber here. I look forward to following your page.
@@Locd4life707 Thank you so much for the subscribe and watching! I appreciate every single person. 😊
My husband bought a Dodge pickup and we had the same problems. Dodge trucks and vans are built to accommodate tall people.... They are just not convenient for short people. The problems you mentioned are annoying.
@@marthawilson5672 They are a little annoying yes! Glad I was able to learn solutions for two of the issues, the window and the auto brake. The window thing is a big deal for me! Apparently if you hold the button extra long, it realizes you actually want to roll it down all the way and then will continue to. To learn that made me pretty happy as I hate getting out at the bank LOL. Thanks for watching!
🌷Thank You🌻
@@manie54321 You’re very welcome. Thank you for watching ☺️
Little green tree frogs. Cute, until one hops onto you in the middle of the night. Yikes!
@@juliahanson7499 Exactly 😱. Or when I’m driving. Ohhh how I hate them! Thank you for watching 😊
Get a reacher?
@@bookbakery For the mirror? Good idea!! Thanks for watching. 😊
I would just not bother washing it,,, the rain will clean it - well if you. put it in park, yes the brake goes on but you have to shift into drive to go and the second you do the brake releases automatically - so I dont see that as a problem -
Mine doesn’t, it actually lurches and stops. But I’ve since learned that there is a setting and it can be changed. I never knew that! Also found out there is a way to roll the window down all the way! (See pinned comment). Thanks for watching. 😊
I almost always put my car in park when I'm at a light.
Really? I usually only do that if I have to grab something real quick. Come back and tell me how you like it when you get your Transit! 😊
I just wanted to say be careful with your running boards because when it rains the water will get stuck between the running board and the van and it will rust and bad.
@@weekendlovinggypsy1737 Good to know! Thank you for watching 😊
😊 the toads wanna go camping 😀
So do I! 😄. Thanks for watching, you guys!
Take care. You have had a "little" something going on in your world.
@@clarasmith1873 yes, we have! Thanks so much. 😊
😂
Put a stool in the floor. Some people are short like my sister.
@@bookbakery yuup, that’s essentially what we do. 😄. Too funny! ☺️
Bufo toads in your van... horrible 🤯😵💫
@@LifeBetweenTheDash Agreed. I have a phobia of those toads that transfers now to all toads and frogs. To find anything like that in my van, repeatedly, is very upsetting to me. And if one jumped on me while driving, which almost happened but he jumped on the passenger side instead… it could be dangerous. Plus they are filthy, smell, and leave disgusting waste. Thankfully I haven’t found anything like that out in the open but it must be there. Ugh.. i hate it.
