    I love Glen Campbell. He sings this song with such overwhelming power in his spirit, and it touches deep down in the heart. This man is truly blessed and gifted by God, he can sing any song and sing it better then anyone else I know. He performed in concert in Townsville, QLD, Tuesday 24 November 2009 at 12:00AM, even with a throat condition his voice was truly amazing!! I have most of his Gospel albums/cds and most of his music in my library collection. His dvd I'll Be Me was absolutely moving and this man is incredible, he has such grace and strength of character. I highly recommend all to watch this personal documentary. If you are not touched and moved by it, something is wrong. God bless you Glen Campbell, and thankyou for bringing such joy and blessing into my life through your music and being a blessing to so many.You are truly a man of Christ without a doubt!!Justin (Australia)

      This was always a favorite song of mine, and (as a kid) the only GC song I liked. And as a guitarist, I never realized that he was such a masterful musician on the guitar. But after his passing, I decided to take a look back and started reading about him. I've had classic GC songs playing ever since and have a renewed respect and appreciation.
      Stumbled across this video today, and that was my first thought - he was so used to playing the guitar, and so in tune to the music, that he almost didn't know what to do with his hands - they wanted to strum something.
      Great video, great song, great human being.

    • @survivrs
      @survivrs 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rex White, Glen learned to play the guitar as a young age, never learned to read music, he could hear something once and could play it. He had perfect pitch, and was the most requested studio musician for everyone who was anyone in the music world. He was a member of the famed Wrecking Crew, a group of studio musicians who were so incredible, but Glen still stood head and shoulders above them talent wise. What still brings me to tears it that when he recorded his final song "I'm not gonna miss you", it was the Wrecking Crew who accompanied him. It's all in the documentary titled "I'll be me". It's on Netflix and you can get the dvd online as well. His talent was beyond amazing. I'm just thankful he survived the 80's from his many affairs, the most famous being Tanya Tucker who had barely turned 21 before he hooked up with her, but their fights got so physical that he should have been in jail for a long time. He got his life back to his roots from when he was a boy, especially after he met Kim, and turned back into the Glen Campbell we all fell in love with years before. As the daughter of a mom who was in the final stage of Alzheimer's when she passed away, it was such a relief because she had turned into a person I didn't know. On a personal level, it was hard to see her not remember the names of my 2 sons about 10 years before her death, and in the final 5 years, she could no longer call me by name, but if she was anywhere near the dining area when we would walk in the nursing home, her face just lit up when we came through the door. She recognized us as loved ones, but that was as far as her mind could take her. We couldn't carry on a conversation, she spoke gibberish for the most part so there was a lot of smiles and head nods. In her final 2-3 years, she tried to bite at the nurses, she would wipe feces on the wall, and cuss like a sailor, all things that would have embarrassed her to death if she would have been in her right mind. The nursing staff was so good to her (my oldest sister was the admin. secretary at the nursing home so I had to wonder if they weren't extra good to her just to make sure they didn't get fired), but I was wrong because many of those nurses showed up for her funeral and you would have thought they were all family when you saw them openly crying, and their words were so kind. They had seen her in her early-mid stages and knew that she didn't know what she was doing at that time, and they loved her even through all of that. His death, while it probably had his entire family in tears was still more than likely a relief because like some of the things mentioned in the documentary were not pleasant to deal with, I was holding my mom's hand when she took her final breath, and while I cried, it was more out of relief than anything because I couldn't take any more stories of her antics at the nursing home. She learned to play the piano at a young age and was our church organist for 50 years. When she went to the nursing home, she would sit and play the piano there, but with time she eventually got to a point that she didn't know what the piano was or what it was for. From what I read, Glen finally reached that point where he could no longer create sweet music with a guitar but he hung onto that until his last year or two. My apologies for the book, I think it helps me to talk about it.

    Something I notice is how Glen is very good at enunciating each word. One time a few years ago on one of the talent shows, Simon called a contestant out for the "bad habit" that people make when they've been singing a long time and it's that they don't enunciate the words, and I guess I agree because there are many songs that for years we've sung the wrong lyrics because of what we think we are hearing. There is no mistaking anything about Glen. I sure miss the great music he and Jimmy could have continued to make, but they had a lot of years together and I guess I should just be grateful for that.

He worked construction for 30 years, and in the winter it kept him warmer to have it, but I loved when it came off all because of the dimple in his chin. These days it's much harder to see as he has put on quite a bit of weight in the last 10 years or so.

And of course Glen and Jimmy are practically joined at the hip, I love almost every song Jimmy has written, especially MacArthur Park. I know the feeling of seeing someone without their beard. The guy walked in my house and stopped me dead in my tracks. There was something about him that I recognized, but it wasn't until he said something that I knew it was the man I would marry. And in a few months, it will have been 33 years.we've been married. He grows it every fall but in the spring it comes off. I do the same thing if I see something in the beard, so that made me laugh.

    I agree, I hate the beard. The man I eventually married had a big beard when we met on New Year's Eve 1982. He said that it kept his face warm since he worked in construction and was outside quite a bit. Iowa winters are cold. He always stopped by my house on his way home from work, and on a night when he was running late, I was working in the kitchen when he came in, and when I turned around to say hi, I froze in my tracks. I was wondering how I was going to protect myself from this strange guy who just walked right into my house, but then he said something and while I was still shaking, I realized that I knew that voice and it finally sunk in that it was him. That night, I kept looking at him, his face, and the dimple in his chin that I didn't know he had. He got to a point that he told me to stop staring, it was starting to bother him. That's been about 36 years ago since we celebrated our 34th anniversary in May. I never heard any of the jokes about Glen's hair. I loved it in the 70's when it was longer and parted in the middle.

    He has command over very complicated note and chord structures. It still makes me laugh at the comments made by one of worlds greatest jazz drummers years back making fun of Glen Campbell’s talent and singing one or two chords I guess that guy could not count note and chords. Buy the way the drummers name was buddy rich so sad this man with so much talent on the drums was so wrong on other walks of life in the music industry.
