A really nice race that heavily demonstrates why Charity (and Grand Prix) speedruns aren't very competitive, but incredibly entertaining to watch.
On one hand, you have Goomba cruising along with minimal getting in his way and on the other, you have Emo getting absolutely blasted with bad RNG, putting him 30+ seconds behind at the start of Special Cup, but playing at an extremely similar skill level. If the extremely obvious RNG wasn't enough to show just how much of this race was out of the control of the runners, Bowser's Castle and the Ultra Shortcut associated with it almost single-handedly took Emo's 30-second disadvantage and not only nullified it, but did so by putting Emo more than an entire minute ahead of Goomba. Despite the entire run leaning well in Goomba's favor, he lost the entire race to this one single inconsistent trick.
But despite how polarizing this race was, there's still an important place for runs like this and that is Charity events just like this one.
Just looking at Dino Dino Jungle, they both go for an unviable, but extremely stylish shroomless cut which the commentators didn't expect either of them to make and which they both failed in their practice runs. The carefree mindset of the charity event led to an incredibly exciting moment where BOTH of them nailed it on the final lap. I don't think it's quite emphasized just how impressive that is. By Goomba's projections, a good player can pull this shortcut off once for every 20 attempts they take at it. Since they both had 3 attempts, the probability of them both making it was 9 in 400 (a 2.25% percent chance). This is the kind of tech skill that no other category, not even a time trial world record could show off, as yes, with enough attempts, we all know someone could get it 3/3 laps, but the sheer ability to pull it off on the spot in front of thousands of people shows a consistency and confidence that otherwise would be completely under-shadowed by the countless failures that led to that one successful attempt.
I mean sure emo had worse rng but my rng was absolutely terrible as well lmao

The BC sc I was getting 1 out of 2 in practice so idk what went wrong during the run as I wasnt nervous :d it happens

The Dino Dino jungle shortcut still has me puzzled because optimist did it with only 1 mini turbo, I think this is possible because he had two wheels off the track decreasing his friction
Emo got hit by:

Forever, my favorite Mario Kart.
First game I ever set out to complete and I remember the stress and excitement of finally beating 48 mirror cup. Followed by the utter disappointment of the abilities of the golden Kart.

I find it funny how in both special cups, they both had:
a bowser in second
a daisy in third
and a bowser jr + baby mario in fourth
This makes me wonder if there will ever be a co-op Double Dash run, or if it's been done.
Its been done, but since the back person needs to keep destroying their stick in order to charge the MTs, and because it doesn't add much, nobody cares about it. Current record or so for All Cup Tour Coop is like an 28:24 in game time

The memories I've had with this game probably gave me my extreme love of co-op in games ever since. Also: WE NEED MORE CO-OP GAMES DAMMIT

Most Most of the checkpoints in this game seem to be designed as anti-shortcuts. You take a slower route to get a double item box; basically sandbagging is part of the track design. I guess that's a mechanic that only really works in the games that have double item boxes.

Why all four cups individually as opposed to just All Cup Tour?

As explained, All Cup Tour puts all the tracks in a randomized order apart from the first track (Luigi Circuit) and Last track (Rainbow Road). By doing all 4 cups so the tracks are played in order, it's much easier to compare who is ahead
He explains it at the beginning: All Cup Tour plays tracks in a random order, so to improve the viewing experience (both players play the same track at the same time), they play the 4 cups back to back.
In the All-Cup Tour, the race starts at Luigi Circuit and ends at Rainbow Road, however the order of the other tracks are at random. It's more controlled the way they do it.

Idk what the gold mushroom glitch is, but I recall they mentioned (I believe it was at some point during Daisy Cruiser) that mini turbos give you the same amount of speed as both stars and mushrooms and so I imagine as a result, mini-turboing with perfect lines is just as fast (probably faster when factoring in Grand Prix's need to block the occasional item, but idk how that glitch works)
@@TJ-Henry-Yoshi well if wed have infinite mushrooms we could offroad cut a whole lot, and shrooms allow for tighter cornering actually so itd be worth, depending on the set up time for the glitch (if it even exists)

The Barrel train is the best kart in this game. It has the best A tech, ...
It has the highest top speed out of all lightweight karts :) that was the original reason, nowadays it also works really well with atech

Is there a reason why Donkey Kong, Bowser, Wario in the top 3 or top 5. I don't remember that as a kid but I got the game recently on amazon and every time I play it by myself or me and my cousin Bowser, Donkey Kong and Wario is always up there in the top 3 or top 5. Is it RNG manipualtion I am doing without realizing it or just coincidence they're always up there.
