- This will be the first time checking out the Pokemon Japanese openings, The ones I check out were Pokemon Journeys that's when I jump into the japanese version for Pokemon. There's a new one called Pokemon Horizons I might do reactions on it if you want to see it on the channel. I want to get a quick disclamier out of the way I did a lot editing on this video towards of it because there was a lot copyright on XY and the end of Journeys. I hope you enjoy this reaction on the Pokemon Japanese openings. What's your favorite Opening for Pokemon and favorite series for the Japanese version? Also is Pokemon Horizons any good to check out?

Pokémon horizons is really good! I would say it’s fantastic actually. The overarching story and lore are entirely unique to this show, not taken from any game, and the world building is really good

Rika Matsumoto, the voice actress for the Japanese version of Ash, sings some Pokemon openings, and she also sings an opening for Kamen Rider Ryuki.
One thing the Japanese opening did that was quite interesting, starting in Gen4, when Ash and his friends have any changes in their team, the anime opening will reflect the change immediately in the next episode. This was very obvious in the Gen4 openings, as the opening shows Ash and friend's full team. One episode Starly evolved into Staravior, the Starly in the opening changes into Staravior the next episode. One episode Ash traded Aipom with Dawn's Buizel, the opening reflects it next episode as the two Pokemon swap places. Even the part where Aipom uses Swift was changed into Buizel using Aqua Jet.

The first remix of Aim to be a Pokemon Master was done by Whiteberry, a Pop Band. Hence, in the opening credits, it is listed as "Aim to be a Pokemon Master! -Whiteberry Version"
Additionally, the Japanese version usually update the opening sequences like evolutions and captures. For example, in the 2nd version of Together, it updated Team Rocket's Team to remove Cacnea and Dustox.
Theres also a first take version of the first opening, thats very good too
I actually check that out and it was really good. It was a send off for the person that voice's Ash for Japanese.
I always prefer the openings of original stuff so the Japanese is my fav
Just to clarify,Ash is not a girl. He's a boy. But he's voiced by a woman,who also happened to sing most of these openings.
Highly recommend watching Pokemon Horizons subbed if you can. It's very narrative focused where each episode leads into the next.

Pokemon horizon’s new opening just came out, but is not available on youtube yet. Even so, Horizons is the best season so far, characters are well written, it’s like true anime stuff, if you are a fan of Pokemon you have to watch it.
The opening of the first generation, Aim for the Pokémon Master, shipped a whopping 2 million copies!

also i will say: TH-cam doesn't give good versions of openings in general nowadays.

speaking of versions though: in the one before the last of the Advanced openings, there was Mew floating and Lucario chillin' in the tree.
i like a the version where they promoted the Mystery Dungeon game. it was especially sick with Charizard eating the screen at the end

X and Y is probably the best series overall except the original whos bar is too high. Irony of the game being so mid but the anime being such a great series
Every opening before Sinnoh we're enjoyable in english or in my case, Spanish because it was a direct translation from the English, Japan just the weird anthem was bad.
Honestly for Pokemon Horizon... I think it's one of best and more interesting season of the anime.
They take a new fresh take for the Pokemon world with a new original plot and a new character.. and it work really well !
Ash was cool but in his end the character felt a little flat for me and now we have new character with character developpement and an interesting arc.
So yeah Horizon is really cool !

yeah even though horizons isnt getting as much love, I think its one of the best if not the best pokemon gen so far.
Just everything about it feels very fresh and a joy to watch.
How? Ash is one of, if not the most, developed characters in fiction with a very fleshed out and deep character arc
