    Impressive that you were able to do this with such a small amount of space.

    Reading about Mercedes/Chrysler predecessor NAG-1 5 speed 722.6 transmission and TSB. Shutter can occur with more than 0.5 percent water content. So maybe it’s not as much dirt in the fluid as it is water from wet UK as described why the job was delayed

    hey i have a 2012 c300 with 114k, thinking about doing this. do you reccomend? ive read so many different articals online... i just want to make sure there is "enough" fluid in the transmission.. but looks like might as well drain it all

    • @mrix
      @mrix  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi the only issue really is around a pint left in the torque converter which some bother removing and others do not, I never personally and I am glad I did not as the oil was fairly clean so saved a job, the whole process is relatively straight forward and you know when you have filled enough as it can only drain down the the little green level, once it does and no oil continues to flow you know you have the right level, my car has been running fine since this job... all the best... mrix

      Hi there, having driven a fair bit since the video for me personally I never noticed any difference, obviously having the fluid changed is a great for piece of mind and its likely only to be only a one off job for most, all the very best with yours, hopefully you may notice a difference and if you do please let me know, thank mrix

    Hi. I have a question. This job seems like something I could do myself however, watching the video I have a question. When you filled the oil back up, you waited for the oil in the pan to level off with the plastic tube thing that you put in. However, when you took the oil out, A LOT of oil came out before it eventually leveled off with that same tube thing so this raises the question of.... did you take out more oil than what was put in?

    • @mrix
      @mrix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, you do have to over fill so the excess can drain down to the green leveling thing I snapped in, for me it appeared to be about a ltr, the gearbox has been running very well since the oil change with no issues, in fact the gears have become smoother.... all the best changing yours....mrix

    • @NeOAnderson
      @NeOAnderson ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mrixAhh I see. So it's not so much a measure how much comes out and put exactly same amount in it's more about making sure when you filled it up that there's excess coming out and levels off at that green leveling thing, okay good to know, thank you. Now to find a suitable place I can lift the car up lol

    • @mrix
      @mrix  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes exactly, you cannot really go far wrong, well unless you do not put enough back in which means you have no idea if there is enough in there or not, it pretty much needs to flood out so you get the correct level... all the best of luck with yours....mrix

      I can't hear the engine running when the filler nozzle was pulled out which means that you did drain more than you should have...
      Sorry mate, it's a miracle the transmission is working, just because you don't have issues now does not mean you did it right, I would go back and add the missing fluid before it's too late.

    I heard some scary storied on over or under filling causing MAJOR problems.
    I need to confirm the final method that you get it to running temp/ then shift through the gears (rear wheels off the ground/ then remove the plug let the excess fluid drain until it becomes a trickle and cap it . The 5 speed is easy you have a filler stick. The 7 spd and dangerous many people have destroyed there tranny

    • @mrix
      @mrix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes what you explain is the procedure, this is the system I used and my car is still running very well since the video was posted, you cannot overfill as you have the filler level fitted... all the best mrix

    • @mrix
      @mrix  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most definitely yes, my parking space is slopped, if you see the start of my video I have leveled it up by placing the front wheels on the curb then reversing on the wooden blocks, I know this levels the car perfectly because I have used a spirit level to check in some prior videos... all the very best....mrix

    You must also drain from torque

    • @mrix
      @mrix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello you do not have to drain the torque as it uses the same fluid and only contains 1 litre and I put in 5 litres of new, yes ideally if you can change it its a bonus but you do not have to change it, many people and garages do not bother from my understanding after all you are adding 5 clean litres diluting with just 1 old litre of fluid, I am more than confident this change will see how the life of my 2013 car.

    How's the engine leak after blue devil application? Still dry as a bone ?

    • @mrix
      @mrix  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nico, all surprisingly very good and yes bone dry, I really need to create a update video on this BlueDevil, its now been quite a while but will it last long term? we shall see I guess as I have no intention of selling the car any time soon, I suppose looking back if it had not worked I would of not lost much so was a no brainer really, if I was to be completely honest I have tried these types of additives over the years and they never really worked but I am so relieved this one did else it was a huge repair cost, this type of additive only works on expanding rubber seals and fortunately that is exactly what a Oil Cooler seal is made of, if you got a similar problem and you give it a go please let me know how you get on, thanks for the comment....mrix

      It must be leveled with the car running. The engine running pulls a lot of the trans oil up into circulation. If you set the level with the engine off the level will be super low once the engine is started.

    The car is not leveled? This makes the fluid level wrong, even if you warm it up to 45C and letting it sputter.

    • @mrix
      @mrix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and yes as you say it is so very important to get the vehicle as level as possible, if you listen to the start of the video the car was level, I did explain my parking space slopes so once I have it up on the curb it levels it out, even though its was not shown in the video I did actually use a spirit level to double check..... mrix

    Not emptying the torque converter means you left almost half of the old oil in there…what’s the point of “washing “ the oil ?Apart from that well done doing it on the ground.Cheers

    • @mrix
      @mrix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, from my understanding the torque converter does not hold half the oil / fluid as it only contains 1 litre, the overall amount of oil in the entire gearbox transmission equals 5 litres so its nowhere near half, from my research as this is the case a lot of people including some garages do not bother emptying it, I pumped in 5 litres and removed about a 1 litre which was over fill so I am happy its given a reasonable oil fluid change which should keep the transmission healthy for a good few years.

    • @MrAranhaman
      @MrAranhaman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrix I said almost half…taking under consideration all the rest that stays in the hoses and radiator.I would swear that the last time i swaped my gearbox a considerable amount was on the tc.But anyway ,if the oil was old it would contaminate the new one and all the work had was in a certain way wasted.Draining the tc is easier than draing the sump.Just my 2 cents…your work was close to perfect,only missing that step.Doing what you did on the ground is not for everyone
