    Great work bro!! Can you make a series where you design a building in a complete way like from Foundation-columns-beams-slab along with idea on how to produce detailed drawings. Would be very much useful. Pls think about it. Thanks and all the best!!

    Excellent Explanation. Sir!! Can you please make video for comparison of Design Results for RC building having Fixed case column VS model with real foundations (either mat or isolated or combined as suitable). I think that there are drastic difference in Beam, column , foundation forces .
    Thanks

    if column in etabs had insertion point and if we export that points into safe......does size of load act on that point or does it act on the area of column....??

    Like normal isolated footings, can we taper eccentric footings (with strap beams) instead of providing rectangular slab?

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we can. But not in the face where strap beam is provided.

    Hello. While designing does SAFE consider the critical case of shear, punching shear and moment or it does it give steel just from Moment POV?I have designed it manually and SAFE as well but it seems that steel is calculated from Moment POV only leaving out critical case of shear. Becasue pt and shear stress are inter related and Pt given needs to be increased if depth alone cannot satisfy the shear demand. Pls explain.

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yah. safe doesn’t consider shear force while calculating rebar

    Thanks for the nice explanation. it was really helpful but I have a doubt,.. when do we consider ultimate strength load combination that you defined? coz although you defined both service and ultimate ,, but you are only using service load combination..

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ultimate load combination is used for structural designs like rebar calculation
      Service load combo is used for bearing and deflection

    Sir I have doubt in raft footing bottom mesh( x and y direction) has main bar and distribution bar for top. Mesh also. But sir at bottom main steel ( x direction) is becoming a distribution steel at top. Y direction steel is main why ?

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For mat/slab with double mesh reinforcement, bottom bar of bottom mesh is considered as main reinforcement which can be along either x or y axis depending upon moment and for top mesh , top bar is considered as main reinforcement due to reversal effect.

    while defining strips you choose the strip as per the size of the footing, but you calculate the spacing of the rebar taking 1000 mm width . For taking 1000 mm width i think we have to define the width of strip as 1000 mm , Can you guide me in this confusion?
    In Slab property section, what is the difference between Slab and Footing ?
    This video was very helpful for newbie like me , Thank you

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can clearly see the SI UNIT behind reinforcment values which is mm2/m so I took 1000 mm width.

    How to check one-way shear in Safe?

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't check it directly. You have to check it through shear reinforcement for slab. Follow this :
      Go to Display > Show Reinforcement > Display type change to shear reinforcement.
      This shear reinforcement is provided on basis of shear.

  • @civilmoments5706

    Sir, i have a doubt, why dont you take moments along both direction with vertical load as this comes always as support is fixed

    • @civilconst
      @civilconst  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we have to consider those moments for the design of footing. However, the values of these moments are less as compared to axial load, so it is avoided.

      Ground floor slab i.e wall and plinth beam is directly resting on ground, so it doesn't contribute to footing load unless there is basement floor. @@krakinigneel372
