DUDE, I have spent literally all day on this after encountering continuous crashes in my last game, and I CANNOT express to you just how much of a relief it has been to have an easy to follow set of videos to go along with! I hope that I've learned enough to get the mods I want without an issue. Fingers crossed!!!
Hello, I wanted to make a followup of my previous comment by thanking you very much for these guides again! I have gotten all of my mods from console over to my computer version, and replaced inferior ones (like visible favorited items with All Geared Up), and have even added a lot of really cool new ones! To top it all off, it's WAY more stable than it was on console, after the LOOT video I haven't experienced a single CTD! These videos teach the exact spirit of the introduction video and have done wonders for my confidence when it comes to handling games on PC. Thank you so much.
Just watched the whole modding guide playlist... Man... You are an heaven-sent. I did a beautiful re-installation of my skyrim without any conflicts. xD Thank you countless times!
Awesome my friend! Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss any more modding content. This is far from the end of everything you need to know about modding!
Thank you so much for creating these videos! I've been wanting to switch to MO/MO2 for years and couldn't get my head around them. Now I have a working, modded Skyrim SE with MO2, and your guide made it pretty much effortless! You saved me lots of headaches and anger. :) I can't thank you enough!
This series is a life saver man. Followed it from the beginning and I think I’m really getting the hang of modding SE in general. Just wondering though will you get round to talking about wyre bash and eventually dyndolod? They seem a bit daunting for newcomers, but also necessary. I know there are other guides out there for them but they’re usually a bit out of date. Thanks
Could you please make a video about the overwrite function. I still find it confusing since sometimes I don't know if certain files inside overwrite should be relocated to their parent mod or you should just create a new one.
Thanks bro. I’ve been using vortex but now that I’m at 300+ mods and using Nemesis, Skyrim is crashing every time I play for more than five mins. Hoping MO2 is the answer. I’m going to switch and follow your tutorials and let you know if it works. 🥸
I just want to say thank you for your in depth explanation of MO2. You have made this a very easy process for me. One question I have is why my files are by default being stored into the overwrite mod section? I was hoping they would be broken up into categories (ie; graphic, animation, etc) I'm not sure what I did wrong
Perfect explanation! Looking forward to the next videos. Are you planning on doing a video with a "Basic Mod Order"? Like a perfect combination of Graphics & Gameplay of your taste?
So I get this question a lot and initially my thoughts were that I wouldn't because my goal is to teach viewers to be able to install any mod out there (I.e. mod not copy). However, as more and more people are asking for it I am beginning to understand the importance of some sort of video series that would be dedicated to pointing out the Best and Most Important mods of all time. After all, a lot of AMAZING mods have come out in the nearly 10 years Skyrim Modding has existed. So I guess to answer your question, It's definitely one of the highest video considerations on my list so keep asking for it! :) Before beginning a series like that though, I really need to consult my amazing Discord moderators and get their feedback as to which mods they believe to be the most Important out there. Thank you for the feedback!
@@aielias89 Thanks for your fast answer! I use your Discord most of the times. :) Yes, this would be an awesome video/series to do. Graphics and Gameplay Addons for SSE while mantaining a clean load order (it's my OCD talking now 😂) Also, congrats on your new channel! Cheers!
what is the difference or advantages MO2 has over MO1? Threads discussing this are all a year old (or longer) and they mentioned certain things like tweaking INI files on MO2 is slightly iffy at that moment. How are things now? I play LE and I can't decide between MO1 and MO2.
MO1 is no longer being supported and is therefore outdated. MO2 has ongoing support from its development team and they're quick to add features and fix issues as needed.
I've been using MO2 for about 1-2 years, still don't understand why the general consensus is that it is a difficult software to use with a steep learning curve, because it's simply not; it's actually quite easy, I think the reason this is the opinion amongst most modder's is because it has been regurgitated over and over again in the modding community since the days of MO when Tannin was developing it, which at the time had a horrible virtual file system that caused crashing and corruption of the game files. After having modded Oblivion I've actually switched over to using Wrye bash because I can't stand the virtual file system even though it has been developed significantly since the days of MO; it still has many incompatibilities with certain software; like script extender plugins, certain lodgen executable's, and programs that use a Hook.dll like Rivatuner Statistics, also Wrye bash is far more difficult software to use, partly because it doesn't have all the convenience features of MO2 and the UI isn't as good, but mostly because you can just do a lot more with it that can take some getting use to; also it does have Fomod support now, which from reading old forum posts was the only downside people had with it.
time for me to re watch this series. I've modded before, usually crashing right around the time i am able to smith dadric armor lel. Currently, launching skse64 from Mo2 gives me a black screen then back to desktop. launching game from regular launcher shows i have have skse64 installed and up to date (per instructions from Ai), and lanuching the third way i know of shows me my mods in game but says skse64 is missing, so i think i have skse64 in the wrong place!
So, look like i did it right, at least for the most part. I eventually started but unchecking almost all mods except SkyUi, unofficial patch ect. to see if it would work. It does, and after trying it with all but one mod checked, i found Simply Knock keeps the game from launching. Not saying SK is a problem mod, but i just want to play and i can go without it for now. Cheers.
so i did everything you told and im gonna test it. but first i need to know if you can start up the game after video 7 in the series? or are more vids coming up (as this one is pretty recent?!) AND do i need to watch out for any other things?
You should be able to start up your game after every video, if you've done everything correctly. Do not leave in game testing to the last minute. It's better to install mods slowly and find any issues you may have early rather than installing hundreds of mods and sorting out issues.
So, I installed a bunch of mods which I thought were compatible with each other. Like improved AI, additional guards, battlefields, gear, kissing mod, etc. Then i tried to kiss my follower and she hugged me, and then did some sick body slam which sort of looked like a WWE move. Then the screen went black, and the next thing I could see was the two of them floating and spinning like they're in space or something. Then some NPCs just being frozen or all being caught in a weird position all standing in one corner starring at the wall etc. I will have to give this a try.
I would recommend not to use profiles. Its useful for skyrim for managing different characters because eyou can have savegames for every profile, but Skyrim SE have its own charmanager. With profiles you have the problem that they share the mod-directories. If you use for example 5 mods that contain animations and run FNIS that works fine if alle profiles have the mods enabled. But if one mod is disabled, Every time you change the profile between one where the mod is disabled and where it is enabled you have to run FNIS or you get the T-Bug (chars shows only T-Position) in the game. The same problem with bodyslide. You have to make a Datafile with all possible outfits of verey mod or you can get grafical problems ingame.Same with modding. You are modding a "hot" game, not a test environment. With instances the problem does not exist. The only problem with instances is that you will have two mod directories and that could doubling the space for mods when you want the same mods in both instances.I have a big gaming instance and a development instance where are the only mods installed are the ones I need for development. For the most mods its nearly nothing (only skse64 files for the data dir, sse engine fixes and the unofficial patch) - because the basic game files like Skyrimse.esm and the DLC are shared between instances and available by standard. I can develop and test it and if I want to test it in a "normal" environment I zip the mod in my development instance and install it in the gaming instance and there I'm having or not having the same problems every other user who will use the mod will have.Profiles does not give this kind of a clear separation BTW leaving the paths alone is only recommended if you don't use instances and use the mobile version. If you use instances your data will go to your users appdata directory and that is on the systemdrive. I don't think some will fancy that much data for the mods-directory or the download directory on their precious SSD Systemdrive C:. I moved all download to a networkdrive on my nas and share it beween the instances. Some mods like "Bruma" have a filesize way above 2.5GB in the 7z-Installfileformat. Meaning 2.5GB downloadfile and in mods the same file not zipped. If you got a small system SSD - not nice to loose that space.
Hey, I'm new to modding and currently have NMM installed. Would there be conflicts if I were to install MO2? Are there any repercussions to deleting NMM despite loaded mods on FO4 + New Vegas (I assume not). Any help would be appreciated! xoxo
when you've made a new profile, how do you choose it? I keep double clicking on the newly made profile but when I open the profile menu, default is still chosen.
So I'm quite sure that I deleted every single file that had something to do with Skyrim (for a 2nd time) but every time I reinstall the game from Steam all of my damn saves keep reappearing. Would that still be considered a clean game now or do I have to disable this download function that steam has?
Your Skyrim save games are located in Documents/My Games/Skyrim Special Edition. :) That's why you still see them after you delete all of your game data.
IDK everyone says MO2 is the best but, i'm still thinking Vortex is much better. Especially after you figure out how easy it actually is to edit load order there.
Vortex is still better as far as i am concerned. Your guides make mo2 bearable, yet vortex is just better....conflict resolution with automatic prompts and explanations allowing choice. The only issue i have is vortex+nemesis+dynamic animation replacer doesn't work properly. Or my lack of knowledge woth dar ia the issue.
It's definetly your lack of knowledge IMO. I've used both Vortex and MO2, and I can definitively state that MO2 is superior by far in every aspect. With that said, I can see why people new to modding might be intimidated by switching to a new modding tool.
Ai Cave I have a strange question not to do with modding directly but you have more experience with Skyrim than I do. I’m currently playing Skyrim Special Edition on a laptop with two GPUs, a slow one that is used by the system for drawing data onto the screen and a more powerful one dedicated to the computations. Normally this works fine for all but the most recent games. However, when I play Skyrim (modded or unmodded) it refuses to take the computations from the stronger of the two cards only using the weaker GPU. Advice?
