Get this - He only missed ONE performance. He was a real trooper (I had pneumonia once and I was knocked out for about a week or longer). He said “I know” and something else that, unfortunately, I couldn’t quite hear, as he began walking away from me to sign other autographs.
Alan could have yeeted me across the room and all I would do was thank him for it. But seriously, him being the gentle, sweet soul he was, he probably felt horrible about inadvertently yeeting that girl across the room and apologized profusely. I heard Charles Dance did the same thing to Peter Dinklage every time the GoT script called for Tywin to say something horrible to Tyrion. Same with Jason Momoa, he apologized to Emilia Clarke over and over before each of their two noncon scenes in the first season.
When Alan is reading to MaryAnne in Sense and Sensibility…it could bring tears to your eyes. A truly outstanding Actor and person. I wish somebody would explain to the Cosmos that we can’t afford to lose any more good people before their time.
