  • A tour of a very special caravan - my 1960 Car Cruiser Carousel. This was fully restored by myself about two years ago. I show you the features and fittings that make this caravan one of my all-time favourite models.
    Hope you enjoy!
    Happy Caravanning,
    Cameron.

    I actually owned this same model and sold it around 8 years ago. I still own the tea set though. Broke my heart to sell it. Site fees escalated too high for me to afford them.😢 loved my caravan. This brings back so many memories for me. Thankyou it looks stunning.

    That was really interesting - the second door and the toilet also and the way they used the cushions to make the bed and then used it to make the seating up after - I got a 1989 caravan and it only has basic furniture and I particularly liked the way the cupboard folded out to give privacy between the two areas of sleeping - that should be in all caravans today too - I only have a bench seating - kitchen and a bed with a cupboard for storage

    The second door at the back was so that if you needed to use the loo you could exit the caravan by the front, and re-enter directly to the loo without disturbing anybody eating/sleeping in that side of the caravan.

    I absolutely love your videos! The love and attention to detail you out into your restorations are wonderful to see. Here another fascinating step back in history and insightful look back at carvaning history. I beauty of a van! thank you for filming and sharing! I fully agree so often caravan design gets overlooked. Too many reviews focusing in the fact and figures of payload and heating system and hardly ever comment on the design. What fun to take this one back to France (&,Belgium) an I love that big ol sky light! A remarkable transformation from the neglected photo in someone's garden! Looking forward to more videos loved them all so far so thank you for sharing!

      Thank you Raymond, I’m really happy that these videos are bringing people joy and it was important to me to get close ups of all the details because those are the bits that people remember most. All the time people get the year or model of their childhood caravan wrong, but they’re very specific about gas lamps and water foot pumps! So I want to show off all aspects of the caravans that I feature

    Stylish video and a stylish Caravan. Really enjoying your content although at 41 years of age I just missed getting B&E so unless I buy a smaller classic car (lots of Land Rovers) I need to sort that before I get to play with my own Caravan resto. You have an eye for colour and design and an enthusiasm for your subject that makes your content very enjoyable to watch.

    • @NotAnotherWhiteBox
      @NotAnotherWhiteBox  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the compliments Alan! If you don’t have a B+E, you can drive an outfit with a combined maximum weight of 3500kgs. So if your Range Rover weighs 2500kgs, that leaves you 1000kgs for a caravan, which is most classic caravans under 16ft. This Car Cruiser barely tips the scale at 900kgs, for example.

    • @alanbellwood3902
      @alanbellwood3902 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NotAnotherWhiteBox Most Land Rovers have a MAM of 3500 so leave you with just 750KG.

    I remember that Formica, did a lot of bedroom wardrobes in that pattern, was the splash 💦 back-in fablon?

    • @NotAnotherWhiteBox
      @NotAnotherWhiteBox  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The splash back is the same leather cloth as the rest of the caravan. It’s a much more heavy duty version of fablon. The underside of the kitchen worktop is aluminium, so it’s a wipe clean splash back

      Sadly it wasn’t in the caravan when I got it, but it had the cabinet to take the set, so I knew that it had it originally. I managed to source a full set in excellent condition on eBay but I can’t say what it cost me in case my other half is reading the comments 😂

    • @NotAnotherWhiteBox
      @NotAnotherWhiteBox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I strongly disagree. As someone who works on modern caravans, the Car Cruiser is exquisitely built compared. Real ash wood framework with neat hand cut joints. The aluminium trims were also folded over themselves to conceal the screws that held them on, which I’ve never seen on another caravan. The walls are 38mm thick, the average modern caravan is 25mm…
