VOLVO do make some of the best 5 Cylinder engine known to man 👌 hance why FORD chose to use one of them in the Focus ST (they didn't make it Cal 😉 ) but it's a pitty they used it in the de tuned form as in the VOLVO V70 T5 they are 250 BHP stock 👍
Exactly m8 it was the 2.5 low pressure turbo it was made by volvo then ford used them and modified them slightly. My brother had a v70 t5 and pretty sure it was 2.3 and 240 bhp But still the 2.5 is a good platform for a build. ✌️
Great video, you need to drive this car with the traction off as it gives you full power instantly quickly, with it on it restrict it and the power delivery is slower... CALVIN please try dragy again with traction control OFF...... WORD OF WARNING if you do be careful of the driveshafts as they don't like launching.
These are great engines. Gunning it from standing doesn’t do the engine any justice though, they much prefer to be already rolling to get the power down. Disadvantage of the chassis I guess.

I've had some good races with these in a GTD Golf mapped. There isn't much difference id say the GTD is quicker low down. But this engine the noise and cabin size has led me to look for one of these in low mile, good nick form! I don't mind the mediocre speed as it's a proper engine and that is what it's all about
@@Alfie.Goalkeeping You'd be surprised at how much torque can be gained from mapping any TD car. The Golf GTD's respond very well to stage 1s - the mk7/7.5 in stock form put out 380nm, with the map it jumps up to around 500nm. Lower down is where TD engines have more grunt but the 5 pot fords are usually very good in the mid range.

Need to rev it out a lot more.... ST should be juuuust under 60 at the top of second. Might need to bring my AWD converted 2.5T mondeo around for you to have a look at... 350ish HP currently and got a few niggles... dragy 0-60 PB is 4.75

Dorset Police had one of these, obviously not in orange 😂, only 2 years ago I got the reg number, and MOT History showed low mileage. That grey Traffic shark colour we all possibly hate! I wouldn’t be surprised if they still have it as every officer would want another shift in it…..It even had the chrome effect around the driving lights, matched in grey 😳
I have a red one just like this live just down road from binca. They have to much torque low down when mapped so struggle to put power down hence not great at 0=60.
Always regretted parting with my one of these mine was a 06 plate with 44k genuine miles 2 years ago new owners restored it back to factory and its only done 50k miles now only downside was the lacquer peel ….. i have entered would be nice to have another in my life
I just recently brought a st-2 stage 3+ dreamscience 2010 model and I absolutely love it, fuels not to bad for being at 376bhp dynod as well 👍 mines not a bad example either some rs parts as you'd expect but it's very quick for a focus, I recommend anyone buying one of these St's no matter the spec or year they're an amazing car and the 5 pot just sounds incredible!

one way to tell if tune is middle boost gauge goes to 1.2 on a remap and half way if its not mine was not remap and it only went half way on boost hope that helps lovely car anyway shame it drinks so much fuel.....✌✌✌

They are very addictive i had the 2010 face lift in orange some 7 years ago and enjoyed 12 months of it. Till i got bit by a green 2010 rs witch i enjoy the very few time's i take it out to this day. 👍

I got an ST3 aswell 2006 in sea grey, 127k on the clock, had it since 2016, only done 11k since i got it, was on 116k when i got it, got rid of the leather seats though for some orange cloth ones as they were worn out but going for an orange theme so has orange bits/hoses in the engine bay & exterior trim, BBS rims,coilovers,m-tec drilled n grooved discs n pads all round,running dreamscience handset mod X & all attached/needed mods,Milltek full 3" resonated exhaust,decat,3"downpipe, Airtec Plenum,Crossover pipe,K&N induction kit,Airtec intercooler,40mm twin core alloy rad,RS clutch & flywheel & gearbox fitted at Matt Lewis,new turbo fitted at auto modz & 1 or 2 more little bits. RS injectors is the next thing I'll be doing & updating the map to mod XRS. Would like a Quaife Diff but can't afford it yet. Great cars but drink the fuel hence why I don't do many miles in mine. Yep, just sold my orange mk2 st, I've got a tangerine scream st mk3.5 diesel, stage 3 from Pumaspeed, 278 bhp and 580nm, and on a long drive I got 62 mpg and 47 around town, its so quiet inside people think its electric 😔
I’ve just picked up a c30 T5 like the one shown in the video but silver. Can’t wait to give it a drive, it’s an auto sadly but still quite an upgrade from my daily driver Astra 3dr mapped to 155bhp. I can’t wait to map and modify the T5 and see what I can get out of this engine without going too crazy
These cars are going so cheap. well worth the money 🤙 Ford made the best cars in the 80s / 90s Ford Fiesta xr2 escort rs turbo / Sierra cosworth and so on 🤙
Wasn’t it Volvo who built the engine, back in 93. There 850 T5’s had 225hp. Bit crazy that 12 years later that the younger generation thought that they were getting a completely new engine. Basically Volvo cast offs from the decade before. In 2006 Volvo 5 pot 2.5s were banging out 260hp as standard in s60s and police v70s
@@stichupman not exactly giving customers the best ‘peach’ when Volvo customers got 260 but Ford customers got 225. It is one of the greatest engines ever made, had one myself.

The car probably has a KMS sports car on it if it's stage 2. Quite a few people opt not to decat now just due to getting them through MOT is a pain.

ST has a Volvo made T5 engine rather than Ford making it for Volvo.
Volvo engine was 2.3 not 2.5.

I agree Calvin as I had a facelift 2008 ST3 which was stage 1 tunes and it was one of the best cars I ever had 😪😪

They are very addictive i had the 2010 face lift in orange some 7 years ago and enjoyed 12 months of it. Till i got bit by a green 2010 rs witch i enjoy the very few time's i take it out to this day. 👍

I got an ST3 aswell 2006 in sea grey, 127k on the clock, had it since 2016, only done 11k since i got it, was on 116k when i got it, got rid of the leather seats though for some orange cloth ones as they were worn out but going for an orange theme so has orange bits/hoses in the engine bay & exterior trim, BBS rims,coilovers,m-tec drilled n grooved discs n pads all round,running dreamscience handset mod X & all attached/needed mods,Milltek full 3" resonated exhaust,decat,3"downpipe, Airtec Plenum,Crossover pipe,K&N induction kit,Airtec intercooler,40mm twin core alloy rad,RS clutch & flywheel & gearbox fitted at Matt Lewis,new turbo fitted at auto modz & 1 or 2 more little bits. RS injectors is the next thing I'll be doing & updating the map to mod XRS. Would like a Quaife Diff but can't afford it yet. Great cars but drink the fuel hence why I don't do many miles in mine. If you want a focus pre to post conversion, RS genuine rear spoiler, st3 leather interior (good condition), RS instrument cluster, air lift v2 air suspension, and big K-Sport brakes front and back message me back. I have an old 1.6 focus project car and fully modded it but killed it doing an engine conversion myself 🤣. I was 22 at the time and didn't know the knowledge I did then 🤦. Will be put on eBay shortly. Ideally want to sell complete as haven't got time to break it for parts individually. This is ideal for someone with a pre-facelift black car to just transfer the parts to. I've got a tangerine scream st mk3.5 diesel, stage 3 from Pumaspeed, 278 bhp and 580nm, and on a long drive I got 62 mpg and 47 around town, its so quiet inside people think its electric 😔

They took the engine from VOLVO, not put their engine in volvos ;)

I’ve just picked up a c30 T5 like the one shown in the video but silver. Can’t wait to give it a drive, it’s an auto sadly but still quite an upgrade from my daily driver Astra 3dr mapped to 155bhp.
I can’t wait to map and modify the T5 and see what I can get out of this engine without going too crazy

Wasn’t it Volvo who built the engine, back in 93. There 850 T5’s had 225hp. Bit crazy that 12 years later that the younger generation thought that they were getting a completely new engine. Basically Volvo cast offs from the decade before. In 2006 Volvo 5 pot 2.5s were banging out 260hp as standard in s60s and police v70s
Yeah it is a Volvo unit as obviously at the time Ford owned volvo. Why wouldn't you use this peach of an engine
@@stichupman not exactly giving customers the best ‘peach’ when Volvo customers got 260 but Ford customers got 225. It is one of the greatest engines ever made, had one myself.
