  • I'm excited to see the new designs of Twenty Twenty-Five default WordPress theme. Still a bit skeptical about if we need new default themes every year while the previous year fades away -- what about you?

+1 for iterative base block theme, and updated with new patterns/templates. Good test would be, can you recreate 2025 theme in 2024 theme, if so, and if relatively easily then even more so single base theme makes sense. Templates are the new themes.

      That’s not a bad idea!

Is there any advantage of using these default wordpress theme over third party themes like astra , hello elementor , generate press etc ?

First would be the design. If the design matches what you need, then it makes sense. However, if you want more features the 3rd party companies will deliver for you.

Hope we get some more options regarding responsive design (mobile/tablet/desktop.. ) with theme 2025

Excited for this theme. But also wonder why they can't just add style variations and template to Twenty Twenty Four?

Yes very curious how this all plays out in the next few years.

Who on earth wants a new theme each year? This is pointless and a waste of energy and resources that could be used for actual WP improvements. E.g. the 7-year (so far, and with no end in sight) dumpster-fire that is Gutenberg/Block Editor / FSE, or whatever it's called. And then this useless theme also it gets auto-installed, another waste of time having to remove it each year from sites.
