@Javier Solis They already know mostly what to expect and in what order to expect it. An acronym is CRAFT: Cleared to ___; Route ___; Altitude ___; Frequency ___; Transponder code ___. They know where they filed to and the filed route and altitude as well as the likely departure control frequency so it’s verifying that they got what they requested or what changes ATC made, verifying the departure control frequency, and entering the transponder (“squawk”) code. They then read it back to whomever issued the clearance. There are several possibilities for whom that might be: clearance delivery, ground control, flight service; departure control.
It's a structured conversation. We typically already have an idea of what they are going to say back. Note taking is a must for read back clarity and accuracy i think. For me, anyway.
it is very nice to see a young lady doing such a fantastic job just as good if not better than any man you deserve your weight in gold such professionalism
May favorite part is watching the extreme intent focus Emilie has throughout the approach to touch-down!!! It had to be devastating hearing your job was being cut! Glad you persevered and finally got back into the pilot's seat!!!
So nice following you on TH-cam and to watch your videos. Love the real flights as well as the FSims. You're a great role model. Hope the work returns to normal soon. You deserve it!
There is something magical about seeing that runway pop out in front of you after flying in the "soup" probably gives you a feeling of satisfaction!!! Great Video!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Thank you for sharing this and letting us have a further glance into the world of Potato Qweenlines. In the last weeks since I re-delved into flight simming, I have developed this weird fascination for landing approaches, IFR flights, listening to ATC communication and checklist procedures, looking up approach plates, studying airport diagrams, tuning-in COM and LOC frequencies... I also acquired my first book on aviation (basically a PPL-course for total noobies) and I'm absolutely loving it. So videos like these are more than welcome brain fodder since there's always something new to learn every day.
Wow...been flying msfs since 98 just dreaming of what you are doing. Absolute Awesome video. Showed so much of the things I often wondered about. Thanks for sharing this.
Hello Emilie , it is always a pleasure see the clouds and the sky from your office...I am pretty sure is just a long hiatus, thanks for sharing this with us and continue with the excellent work here...as usual!!!
It's a bit weird and bittersweet watching a video like this, coming from the perspective of someone who worked assembling parts of these cockpits for the last 15 years. Everything has that duality of looking both familiar and strange in the context of an in-service unit. Thanks for the vid.
Congratulations!! In a middle of this hard time you have the great opportunity to work, to be happy and the incredible experience to fly an amazing aircraft. That was a beatiful video I have enjoyed a lot, keep climbing higher Captain and thanks to share this kind of wonderfuls. I hope you still having beatiful flights.
So miss my jumpseat days and the view from that office.... Especially enjoyed flying with commuter crews to the smaller airports and enjoying a nice lunch with them before heading back from where we came.
Absolutely love your vids Emilie. I am passionate about flying although I haven't had the chance to get a pilot license, yet at least. If I'm ever in Canada I'd love to fly with you. :) Greetings from Romania, Europe. Clear skies and fair winds, always!
Greetings Emilie from the Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center in California where I’ve been a controller 17 years now. Love your videos and getting out of the RADAR room and into the cockpit. Seeing what you do really enhances and improves what I do and how we both interact. We are all currently working 5 days on and 5 off here with most sectors combined due to the hit the aviation community has suffered as a whole since March. I really hope you can get back out there soon and things rebound for us all! Today was a very busy day for us, which is always encouraging. Be well, stay safe, keep posting! You are awesome!!
Found your channel for the Flight Sim tutorials and was pleasantly surprised to see you're a Canadian pilot of a Dash 8. It's exciting to me because I've flown in Dash 8s to Fort St. John many times. If you've ever done the Vancouver John route I might've been been a passenger of yours!
Thank you Emilie for showing us how smooth the Dash 8 flys and handles. The only time I’ve ever flown in a Turbo Prop was with Alaska Air. Indirect flight from Seattle to Portland then to Oakland. A different perspective of flying at 25 thousand as opposed to 33. 🛫🛬
That was such a pleasure..... Nice to know that competent pilots are always in the cockpit. I hope that you are in a captain's seat again soon..... I grew up in Calgary so I figured out that the landing was south to north, but that was not too far above the ground....... Good job and a nice soft landing......
I've always wanted to look into getting a pilots license, and watching you land that aircraft is so amazing and inspiring. You make me want to pursue my dream of doing that whenever I see you fly with such skill. Please keep up the vids for us dreamers!
Love the videos. Thank you. Quick story: Captain Emilie made an announcement to the cabin. "This is captain Emilie. My copilot is co-captain Susan. As a matter of fact, the entire flight crew are female." With that the cabin provided a round of applause. One of the passengers said to the flight attendant "Can I go up to the cockpit and congratulate the captain?" The flight attendant said "I'm sorry sir, we don't call it that anymore..."
I really miss flying! Those comments from flight deck as one is approaching some hittherto unknown destination, the expectations and sense of adventure... I’ve been so fortunate to be able to travel a lot, but I wouldn’t mind giving it a few more goes! Thanks for flying us around, Emelie! And I really wish you back to work soon!
Great flight, nice job with the crosswind landing! I love the Dash 8, must be a great plane to fly! I can sympathise with you losing your job, I lost mine recently after over 31 years! I wish you good luck getting another job, you just got another new subscriber!
Well, well Emilie, thanks a lot for sharing an excellent video. Do not know if you listened to me or not, but videos like this with natural sound instead of background music is like heaven and hell. This is heaven, thanks a lot for sharing and keep up the good work!
You do a great job Piloting real aircraft and flight sims too. thank You for sharing these videos. I`m not a pilot, but I do transport people as a public transit bus driver so i understand the importance of safety in my job. I hope You will be able to go back to work soon. These are challenging times for all. all the best Emilie.
When it really mattered Emilie definitely nailed THAT landing! A marked contrast between the Professional Emilie and our flight sim buddy. Makes her contribution to the world of simming very much valued.
I hope you can get back to work soon. :( Breaks my heart to see people that love to fly grounded for so long because of situations outside of their control.
Great flying you guys did. I had some fun comparing what it feels like for the first time versus doing this as for 100th time... workflow. Really hope you get back to what you love doing. Happy week!
Well that was soooo nice to watch. I'm a maintenance slash runway personal at the sandspit Airport on haida gwaii and enjoy this type of videos. Good job
Blue angels are the navy bub. She could go for the Thunderbirds in the Air Force. Or literally any airframe she wanted to as long as the airforce, or navy, allowed it.
Yeah....I miss flying soooo much. I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms from not seeing the runway lit up like a Christmas tree...and the feeling after making a successful landing. Nothing beats it. I feel your pain. You'll be back in the air soon! 👌
I know nothing about flying, but I've been refulling aircrafts for 12 yrs. Cool to see what's happening inside during a flight. Hope you get your job back, or a job back soon. Best of luck, tnx for the upload.

Awesome vid and great smooth landing you did. Yea sure hope the whole airline industry across the world gets up and running to like they were before all this real soon and hope you can get back to flying pax real soon as well.

Thanks John! That's what I'm hoping to do :)
I could watch you day and night piloting a plane, so enjoyable. Stay safe Emilie
Something about the communication between you and ATC is so therapeutic! Awesome video :)
There is no ATC. She said that.
Amazing how pilots always get all the information by those radio transmissions, because there are so many numbers they have to remember.
