This literally happens to me every night. Granted my bar isn't nearly as large as his collection, but it's still enough to where I get lost sometimes trying to make a choice. Sometimes less is more.
WOW - SUPERB! You make us all jealous of your collection. You must be a distributor or just have a passion for liquor. Your vast collection covers many types of spirits. My primary collection is scotch whisky and I noticed you have a very high end selection. With that said, it looks like most all of your spirits is high end. Hope you don't have an earthquake and get an alarm system if you don't have one. Loved this video and will now watch all the remaining. Your the Man!
That´s a majestic collection,. love it! As someone being a lot into tequla with a lot of experience in Mexico, that´s by far the most impressive home collection of Tequila I´ve seen! Awesome, Congratulations!
Would love to see another update video to this (assuming your collection has grown even more over the past 3 years since this was last shot). Thanks for all of the awesome reviews and videos!
Just found your channel. 1 word!! Awesome. My buddy works for a large store in Reno and I’m sharing your channel with him. You can teach both of us so much. Awesome and thank you for the channel!!
@@claystriping1878 true. I don't drink but I have a liquor collection, I don't know how to explain why I collect liquor but to me I think it has something to do with my dad being a alcoholic. I remember he was drinking everyday came beat my mom and my siblings. Alcohol was his weakness and to me collecting alcohol and not drinking a single drop of it was me being able to overcome and overpower a weakness my Dad couldn't. I hope that made any sense.
Great collection - Just fell on your Video! I am almost jealous - I started my private collection 6 months ago - i currently have close to 100 bottles - main focus on Rums I must say... but i do have some whiskies (eys) and some wine.. its quite a costly passion... But great one! Cheers !
I enjoyed every second of this video. The anticipation is crazy when waiting for you to move a bottle to show what's behind. Beautiful. I highly recommend a bottle or two of Littlemill. The distilery burned down, I have some 19 and 21 year olds by third party bottlers. Get some if you can find it.
I really enjoy Littlemill, but it’s a little hard to find now. I have an older Scott’s Section of it, and a couple independent single casks (20 & 21 year) by Berry’s. Thank you for the comment and cheers!
Hi buddy, what you have is amazing.. love the effort and knowledge you put in this. Shows you're a true collectionist. I've got a miniatures collection, i keep most of all in the garage right now ,in special plastic boxes all sealed. Until i have a bigger proper cabinet. To show them all.
Really wonderful awesome amazing fantastic fabulous collection. Believe me or not if you had been nearby to me I'd have greeted you in person. My heartiest good wishes for you and yours Bar collection
Idk, maybe one day soon, but not a whole lot has changed. The shelves are a little fuller (including the top) and a few bottles have been switched out, but it’s not a dramatic difference. Cheers!
Wow, I'm in awe! I wonder what you do for a living, considering that it'd be costing you something like 500-600$ a month over the course of 10 years to gather these bottles at an average of 50$ per bottle!
I found the Balcones Texas Rum on one store's shelves about 3-4 months ago. It's big and full bodied while not being overly sweet, so it reminds me of a naval style rum. Hopefully they'll release another batch soon. If they do, I'll let you know. Cheers!
***** i had it a few months ago, when i went to a private dinner with chip tate. i had some of his 5 anniversary single malt finished in what they had rumble cask in, DELICIOUS!!! plus some stuff done in french oak. do you have the balcones rumble cask? i have half a bottle left.
I just purchased a bottle of Willett pot still reserve Kentucky straight bourbon 94 proof whiskey and B13 rum 13 year in Europe, Are the worth bring back to the USA? I really couldn't find any information on them except where to purchase them in Europe. Any advice would be appreciated.
impressive sir... very nice collection. I can show people this video when they think i have too much. i have one shelf or about 56 bottles (mostly bourbon and rye). how do you decide what to drink? it always takes me a bit, and i never drink the same stuff 2 days in a row.
It does become a minor challenge occasionally, but stare at it long enough and the right bottle will jump out. Congratulation on your collection, 56 bottles is a nice bar (especially when focusing mostly on bourbons and ryes). You better be careful though, that's how "the sickness" starts ;) Cheers!
how did you find out the balvenie 15 sherry is being put out as first fill and refill? i couldn't find any info mentioning the two different bottlings. any chance balvenie is using coloring?
I spoke with a brand ambassadors and he was telling me that Davis Stewart told him that not all the casks used for it would be first fill sherry. I've been surprised to hear that some (from the same refill sherry cask) were distributed across a few states. I'll be shooting a review on both a refill and first fill bottles this week. Cheers!
Chris. Thank you for the quick response on the Regalia vodka. Your reviews are top notch and I really enjoy your youtube videos. I am a vodka drinker and wonder if you ever tried "Legend of Kremlin" vodka? It is one of my favorites along with Stoli Elit and Absolut Elyx. Am Canadian and going to Florida for the winter, where I will purchase a bottle of Beluga Noble Gold Line. Will also sample vodkas that are not available in Canada, such as Imperia. Congrats on your youtube videos, simply the best.
I start my bar up to 3-4 months ago. I'm pretty much only in to .bourbon. Have 36 bottles right moment. My question is where For long can they stay once you open a bottle ??
Tacoon100 - Congratulations on your bar! If you keep an eye on the corks to be sure they're sealing properly, they can last about a year or so before oxidation will affect the spirit. Now if you use nitrogen or argon after every time you open the bottle to reseal it, they can last 3, 5, 10 years or longer depending on your sealing equipment and how much you move your bottles once sealed (less is better). See my video "Glassware, Corks & Spirit Oxidation" for more information. Cheers!
As The Good Hound said, the best way to preserve opened distilled spirits bottles is with nitrogen or argon. A less expensive, but somewhat less perfect option is to shoot CO2 into the bottle, and then properly reset the cork/cap. Sufficient CO2 will displace most of the oxygen and thus, allow much less oxygen in the bottle to oxidize the opened distilled spirit. In all cases in order to help properly reset the cork/cap, you might do as Ralfy of Whisky Reviews suggested. After squirting gas into the bottle, wrap/seal the joint between the bottle & the cork/cap with white electrical tape. On the elec tape, you can write in the date of the gas squirt and seal. Being a homebrewer, I have CO2. I CO2 squirt and wrap electric tape & date all of my opened distilled spirits bottles. Slainte,
Man you have a lot of different whiskey and alcohol in general and Bourbons and Irish whiskey, how do you keep track of all of them like to make sure they don't go bad or anything
I would imagine that moving house was a lot more of an undertaking than moving the bar ? your bar is amazing. real nice. I'm surprised that you don't go down the road of a wooden shelving unit ?
I find that all the dark colored alcohol changes tastes extremely quickly (for the worse) once u open and dont finish the bottle. How do you deal with this problem when you have so many unfinished bottles?
Lol first time I've seen video I'm a large collector since the '90s can you imagine the price on some of these bottles if they were still sealed lol Nice collection
I have 30 bottles and half aren’t opened yet due to fear of not drinking them in enough time before oxidation changes them. Do you ever worry about having so many bottles open for long lengths/years at a time?
I've always used argon to reseal most of my open bottles. The only ones that don't get it, are the ones I want to soften a bit more. That method has protected my collection for decades. Cheers!
Jeremy Hevey - I have had Lot 40 (new and old) and I agree they are both great bottlings. I do have a few Macallans, but I don't consider myself a big Macallan collector. The bottles I have are mostly for drinking and include an older 25 year sherry, several vintages of 18 (going back to '83), the great Cask Strength bottlings (several abv's), and of course the 12 year. Cheers!
Is the new 1824 series in the US yet? I haven't seen them around. Im trying to get my hands on some of the age statement bottles. They don't being them in Ontario anymore. Found a couple 12s and one 18, as well as a 15 fineoak. Do you notice the supply thinning out at all? I'm scared to open them.
Jeremy Hevey - Thankfully the 1824 series is not in the US yet (as far as I've heard). ;) I have noticed that the distributor here in Texas has begun to dump their inventory of the age stated 12's onto the retailers (a few stores sitting on 12-20 cases in the store). I'm a tad worried that after awhile there won't be any more 12's distributed, but rather the 1824 series will replace them (but that's all speculation). As for the 18's, they seem to be readily available, but most have seemed unwilling to drop the $200 on them. Cheers!
I found a really old beer bottle in a 130 year old building. I can't find any info about it on the internet. Is there some kind of beer bottle database lol?
Edward King - They'll last 6 months to a year-plus depending on the type of spirit. For example, Islay whiskies weaken very fast(lose the impact of the peat/smoke). You can use a wine preserver like "Private Preserve" to spray in your bottles prior to sealing your bottle after every pour. That will place a layer of nitrogen/argon between the spirit and the oxygen trapped in the bottle. Just remember to not move the bottle around much after spraying (don't disturb the layer). Cheers!
Many of your bottles appear to be open. Do you find that the contents deteriorates over time? If so, how long is it before it starts doing so? Do you do anything special to prevent it or slow it down?
If you are looking for suggestions for future reviews, I'd love to see you do a review of The Botanist gin, the Del Maguey mezcals, and the Bone Spirits vodka. I like them, but I like to hear others opinions too.
+Chris James - I bought mine through Uline. I did have to buy and wire up the lighting myself, but once that was done, I've been very happy with the results. Cheers!
Yes, if you don't do anything to them, you'll probably get 6 months to a year without losing noticeable flavor. I use a argon tank to fill/replace the oxygen trapped in my open bottles. For smaller home bars you can just use a wine preserver spray (like "Private Preserve"). You can buy them from Amazon for about $10 and they say you can get 120 uses out of one. They recommend a 1 sec. spray followed by 3-4 small bursts, but when I was using them I sprayed them heavy (2 seconds long and 3-4 short bursts), so I only got 70-80 good seals per can. The key to using gas is that you do not disturb/move the bottle once it's gassed (which will disrupt the gas layer). Here's an old video of mine where I talked about oxidation and the spray (starts at the 4:22 mark): th-cam.com/video/VWYYGS4wStQ/w-d-xo.html . To see the larger argon tank that I use, here's a video that shows my setup (starts at the 10:18 mark): th-cam.com/video/vGic-_cI5FM/w-d-xo.html . Cheers!
I'm a liquor rep in Mississippi... You have an absolutely amazing collection. I've worked for a liquor wholesaler as well as a brand management company for 6 years combined. It is so impressive the knowledge you have about liquor. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?
+BASSic - Bass Boosted Music - Thanks! I retired 2 years ago from a gov't job. Now I focus on my love of spirits and host educational tastings, help retailers select or blend their store single barrel or batch selections, and consult for businesses and distilleries. Oh, and of course I still try and shoot my videos here on TH-cam. Cheers!
He never said he was living his current life purely off government pension. For all we know he could be making even more money now off liquor consulting and tastings.
you have old monk(rum) in your collection? u have to review it...we in India consider it as the best rum till date...and may be your review can help get out of it or be proud of what we have...
***** Which American wiskey would you recommend while making and old fashioned. I know many use Makers Mark. but I would like to hear which one you would recommend so I might try it.
Ricardo8388 - I like to use Larceny fairly often. But if you wanted a higher shelf version, I'd probably suggest Elmer T Lee or Blanton's. Now when I feel like having something a little different, I like to use Ransom Old Tom gin in an old fashioned. It's barrel aged and delicious (a real bourbon lovers gin). Cheers!
Amazing collection! I see you have a few orphan barrels, I was wondering if you could shoot a review. Not too many videos out there on that stuff. I have the barterhouse and rhetoric.
Impressive collection Liquorhound. A few you may want to add that I did not notice; Aberlour A'bunadh batch?, Auchentoshan Valinch, The Hive 12 years (blended scotch). Canadian whisky; Highwood Ninety (90 proof) "Decades of Richness" 20 years in oak cask (under $50 in Canada.(difficult to get in the USA but worth it). As usual you are the Liquorhound
peter white - Great suggestions! I'll see what I can find. I know I would really love to get hold of the Highwood Ninety, but like you said, it's hard to get here in the US. I did manage to get one of Highwood's 25 year Calgary Stampede edition bottles. I was very excited about that rare one.Cheers!
***** Now the Brown-Foreman owns Forty Creek, the once a year special release whiskeys may be more readily available to you. Forty Creek Evolution is a real smooth sipper (very Bourbon like sweetness)
***** Picked up Wisers Red Letter today. Smoothest 45% ABV Whiskey I ever tasted. Still quite a few bottles out there (Ontario). Would look good in the best liquor collection on youtube. Do you have Lot 40 or Pike Creek (10 year Canadian release)? Not trolling just excited about the recent Canadian Whiskies out there that are putting to rest the "Brown Vodka" label on our whiskies. Who better to speak out to than the Liquorhound. Cheers
peter white - There has been some great Canadian whiskies coming out recently. Unfortunately, many of them never make it to the US. I did luck into a Highwood 25 and also enjoyed the uniqueness of Alberta Premium's "Dark Horse". I haven't had the ability to add a Wisers Red Letter yet, but if I do it may be time for a Canadian whisky showdown. I do have the late 80's releases of Pike Creek and Lot 40, but haven't tried the new stuff yet. Thank you and Cheers!
Impressive collection to say the least! You mentioned in a reply below that open bottles will last about a year or so. While that's not an issue at my house, it seems that you have numerous open bottles. Seems maybe too many open bottles?
Thank you Dwayne. I do have many open bottles but I use argon after every time I pour from them. This resealing technique has made my bottles last 5-10+ years without a loss of flavor or alcohol by volume. An important note is not to disturb the bottles once sealed and to keep an eye on their cork conditions. See my video "Glassware, Corks & Spirit Oxidation" for more information and a taste comparison of a bottle that's been opened 5 years versus a brand new bottle. Cheers!.
I collect also but nothing on this scale I wonder what will become of mine when I am gone...have you plans to pass this collection on to family/friends? Your at the point now where you could never finish every bottle.
I dno he might be able to drink this all if he really wanted to. Just making some assumptions, I'd guess he's about 45 and looks to be in decent health. The majority of those bottles are 750 ml. Just a rough estimate, say on average they are about 75% full. That's 563 ml in a bottle, which would comes out to about 2.5 ounces a day, which is a little over two and half fingers. He could drink those bottles of bourbon and whiskey neat one every week which would be 48 a year. The hard stuff he could drink easier with mixers. Give him another good 30 years to get it done so he'll be only 75, assuming he buys no more bottles and doesn't drink anybody else's booze for any reason and that's 1,440 bottles of booze. And probably liver disease. But _still_ do-able.
Great collection. Sorry if this is a dumb question but.. wont some of that go bad after time. Especially things like whiskey? I mean I doubt any of that will be drank regularly enough to be continually changed out for newer bottles. But... maybe im wrong
You're correct. If you don't take measures to prevent oxidation, you probably should finish them within a year or two. There are many variables though. If it's a high abv bottle or if it drinks hot (big spice), you could probably extend that a bit as it could use some calming. I use a tank of argon to gas roughly 95% of my open bottles to prevent oxidation/flavor loss. For smaller home bars, a wine preserver spray works well. Cheers!
If you don't gas them they can start losing flavor within 6 months to a year (but that depends on the proof - the lower the faster). I gas the majority of mine with argon, but there are a few that I leave alone since they like to oxidize. Cheers!
Hey mate i heard that you can still get the johny walker green label in America is that true? I have been looking for it for a while in Australia and people are telling me i wont get it here
Dion Allender - It's a limited release here in the states. I think it's retailing around $70 now when you can find it. I've sampled it a few times and I'm not sure it's as good as the old stuff, but it's close. Cheers!
Every night I would stand there wondering what to have for a good hour. Such a selection! Wow.
This literally happens to me every night. Granted my bar isn't nearly as large as his collection, but it's still enough to where I get lost sometimes trying to make a choice. Sometimes less is more.

There is (UnTappd) but it won’t have any info on that old bottle. Congratulations and cheers!
How long does whisky keep in the bottle once opened? Anything I can do to prolong the life of them?
You've answered these questions (many times :-) in the comments... Cheers.
Thank you for being here and cheers!
wow extremely impressive collection of fine spirits what would be your choice for best cognac ever?
If you are looking for suggestions for future reviews, I'd love to see you do a review of The Botanist gin, the Del Maguey mezcals, and the Bone Spirits vodka.
I like them, but I like to hear others opinions too.
LH what type of shelving are you using? Can you give us an update on how happy you are with it and where we can buy? Thanks!
+Chris James - I bought mine through Uline. I did have to buy and wire up the lighting myself, but once that was done, I've been very happy with the results. Cheers!
Thanks a ton LH, fellow Texan with the bug here looking forward to more of your reviews
wow this is a collection
WOW great collection thanks for sharing.
Where you at now in 2021 with your collection count?
A little over 2,500 bottles but am still using the same shelves - they’re just really full now. Cheers!
Once a bottle is open, doesn’t the booze deteriorate a bit after a couple years ?
Cheers!
Beautiful collection! From one Texan to another, can you do a review of the Porfidio Barrique please!!! There isn't one on TH-cam!
+andrew416z - Thank you! I'll review it, but maybe as part of a rare tequila tasting video. Cheers!
Great collection man…
I'm a liquor rep in Mississippi...
Cheers!
Awesome! I hope to be in your shoes one day. That sounds like an awesome job
Our tax dollars at work...
Cheers!
***** Thanks for the suggestions, Ill keep an eye out!
Evan Williams small batch my favorite
When you purchase a new to you Bourbon how many btls do you buy? 3 or ?
If I've never had it, I only buy one. No need dropping money on something I don't enjoy. Cheers!
Wow ... Great intro with the clickity click to light the shelves. Smooth
Also, a great video!
I was just given a Dinkle 110 anniversary from 1980, what can you tell me.
Amazing collection! I see you have a few orphan barrels, I was wondering if you could shoot a review. Not too many videos out there on that stuff. I have the barterhouse and rhetoric.
As soon as Rhetoric makes it into my area, I'll shoot a video.
Cheers!
Any chance you can review (or have reviewed) Basil Hayden bourbon?
This is not called a collection this is called a warehouse
True!
yo where are the military special bottles???
How much of all?
TX blended is a good one. I may be a little biased since its local.
Forty Creek Evolution is a real smooth sipper (very Bourbon like sweetness)
peter white I meant Gruppo Compari not Brown-Foreman
You one of the best experts .👍👌

What's the best alcohol that's under $30 and can get the most people drunk?
So are you looking to get drunk or to enjoy a great spirit?
Cheap vodka
Thunderbird, Whats the price? 50 Twice, Whats the word Thunderbird....
Cheers!
How fast do the drinks go bad after you you open bottles? Do you still drink those you opened a few years before that?
If you don't gas them they can start losing flavor within 6 months to a year (but that depends on the proof - the lower the faster). I gas the majority of mine with argon, but there are a few that I leave alone since they like to oxidize. Cheers!
LiquorHound Thank you! I appreciate the answer.
My current count is close to yours... im at about 15 bottles lol😂
Wow! When can I come for a visit ;-). When you finish a bottle do you buy another one?
+Raymaster7482 - If I enjoy it I do buy a replacement. Cheers!
wow... thats a crazy collection!
Cheers!
I have 62 bottles and I brag about them at work to my work mates. :-)
is that a MAKERS MARK bottle is up front??
Lol, gotta have a few "blocker bottles" up front. 😉 Cheers!
Very very nice thanks
