Bought a new 2020 Rav4 before the price went up. It is a basic LE model. No push start, no stop/start, no sunroof, no alloy wheels, which means less trouble in the long run. It is made in Japan (JT vin). With basic maintenance, it will run for a long time without repair.

If you want "zero" maintenance, then just walk. No gas to buy, not really much to break down, and heck, it might be good for you from a n exercise/health standpoint. And it's FREE.
Sorry Scotty, there is nothing such as a "zero maintenance" vehicle. All cars required tires and brakes, at the least, and those are wearable items. I know what you mean though -- one you're not fixing left and right. Some of the items mentioned are not true though. For examples, rotors. If you drive regularly, they generally do not build up surface rust, and the ydon't rust away like Scotty says the ydo. Maybe after 20 years, but my Silverado which I drove hard a lot, had rotors for about 5-6 years, no rust. The only reason they had to be changed was because I would pull trailers that didn't have their own brakes (regular brakes, they had surge brakes but those are junk and don't help much). So the brakes experienced a lot of wear. Same for rust. Even after 11 years in the north (Illinois) the only thing that rusted was the very corner of the tailgate (only about 1" square). Anything can last if it's cared for, and likewise, anything can fall apart if it's misused or not cared for, Even Toyotas.

The RAV 4 is indeed a big seller and very popular where I live on the East coast. I knew someone who bought a brand new one and an oil change package with it. The dealership refuses to change the oil less than every 10,000 miles and this is something that makes me worry. Also, this RAV 4 sure is loud for a new vehicle. Always hearing the motor idling from inside the cabin and some kind of high pitched computer squeal from the center console. They say all of this is normal but discourages me from ever buying one. The owner I know now has 35,000 miles on it after 2 and a half years and has NOT had any problems, so in fairness it has been a great vehicle for him!

I think they all vary depending on the year and the way they are driven and cared for. My friend's is a 2021 and they swear up and down at the dealership you can go 10,000 miles between oil changes. I don't know about the noise, but it's definitely there for their model.@@davidiverson4072

Absolute....in comparison to all other carmakers for example my one i reved this up to 5000 RPM (but only when its absolutely decent warmed up & when this amazing smoothly engine is with fully syntethic oil equipped, equipped ore full filed only) and the engine is qiet and smoothly as can be, absolutely no oil consumption, absolutely sippy sporty fast, if possible very great suspending even better than my wifes new 2021 rav4 wit its very solid firm almost stiff suspension, i don't like its still better robust feeling than the older Hyundai Kia up to 2018 but still a to rough "bony" suspension compared to the almost great limusine like confortable suspension. Only a 1980tees Cadillac does it beat. But the back then Cadillacs can't mess in all other things with this awesome Rav4. Since i refreshed this & that on my 2017 Hybrid Rav, i reached even over 50mpg with no no issues with normally driving behavior. In my case it's a really 4wheler Hightech car, who will issues less last for sure over many decades without serious problems.
I have a very sensitive feeling for everything and this rav4 have a extreme Toyota typical smooth gear set, what with decent lubrication stuff can't realy wear out once u don't tune around nitro crap ect. I can yust recomend 2 car brands as the real best, for all around Toyota, and for truck's and pickups those Isuzu diesel trucks, off course Toyota pickups are really smooth Isuzu is more truck like rough, but extremely undestroiable😊 The engine is even more solid that Hilux ones and the rest is AISIN DENSO ECT EQUIPMENT 😂😂😂But 10k cheaper than Toyotas king cars....
Btw the rav4 up to 2019 is still better than the new oneok the look is simply matter of opinion, i like from outside both very much, the older looks more younger Hightech sippy like, the newer more solid, robust somehow truck like, both great but the newer have unfortunately more plastic, and unfortunately the very much more for your lungs poisoniusly direct injection. Older is still more healthy.

The reason we fire fighters and first responders HATE hybrid and electric vehicles... the when the batteries ignite, we need a special powder to put them out or OCEANS of water.
Water makes the fires worse if there aren't OCEANS of it. More than a firehouse can provide.
The batteries are also high voltage and can kill a human in a split decond.

The only disadvantage of being older Toyota's like this one is that is has Toyota's outdated infotainment system that doesn't have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. If you want that, then you would have to replace the Toyota unit with an aftermarket unit that has Android Auto.

The CRV hybrid comes standard sport. I think I would do that. I loved the inside of the CRV better. The space and comfort and quietness of the Honda made the mid level Toyota feel small inside and a little cheap. I wish the Toyota just used the Honda interior.

I'm waiting for a 2024 Rav4 Hybrid and will try to get it to 17 or 18 years. So I need to change the oil more often than the manual says { most people live in the "severe" category for changing oil }. And the first oil change will be at 200 miles, then again at 300 miles and each time I will use a 20 micron oil filter { they have 75% less engine wear over 10 years, than the standard 40 micron oil filters }. After the first 2 oil and oil filter changes, I'll change the oil every 5,000 miles and change the other fluids like a year or two earlier than the manual says { the manual is the BARE MINIMUM maintenance needed to keep your warranty valid but is NOT set up for you to get the longest life out of the car }. I will undercoat it as soon as I get it AND before each winter { I live in the salt belt and I've never had any rust on any of my cars at the 8 year mark, when I sell my cars, then buy new }. I'll change the transmission oil every 45,000-ish miles. and keep the battery filter clean so the battery doesn't overheat and have a shorter lifespan etc. I hope this helps anyone who didn't know this stuff was 100% important to get the longest life from their vehicle.

Cheap reliability because most people want and need a car that is two things: 1. Affordable and 2. Reliable
and that's because most people do not have 100k sitting around to spend on a car and neither do they have the money, time or desire to fix a lemon pos car that breaks down every other week.
