Launch range is maximum kinetic range. Also, SRAAM does have ~2km of range, it seems smaller because both planes move. Thus, the SRAAM has to chase the target.
Gaijin logic: -Add the Harrier GR.1 and Hunter F.6, two iconic British aircraft from the 50s-60s -Give them SRAAM missiles, which in the case of the Harrier they didn't even have irl, and make them very powerful as a result -Their BR goes up -Nerf the SRAAM into oblivion despite contradictory public information on the missile being easily available -Both planes are now stuck at a high BR with missiles that are basically a shotgun
The stats on the SRAAM are correct, it sucks IRL too, and they were mounted on the tech demonsrator harrier but never put it into service, which is what the GR1 is
So, the reason why those short range missiles "feel like" 1km or 3km range respectively, is when you're rear aspect to someone, they're flying away while the missile is trying to catch up. So by the time the missile catches up, the target has thus traveled far enough to beat that 2 or 4km range respectively. It's also why the 8km missile gave you double rings on the IL-28 at 7km. The IL-28 was coming directly head on, so the missile was actually travelling less than 7km to reach them.
Im in this video twice in different matches somehow. The first is at 5:14 where I'm in chat and the second is at 5:40 where trep kills me. I have no idea how this even happened and I'm pretty sure it was unintentional but ty Trep love your vids man :).
All IR missiles currently in-game (except R-24 and R-27ETs) are best launched at 3km and below. Anything more is likely to drain energy and miss Radar missile's listed range is ALWAYS half of what it's displayed For example, R-27ER says its 100km, but only works at 50km Or so. R-77s are 40km, but it's 20km...and even less tbf
The reason why the Fireflashs would fly straight out without turning is because they are laser guided by a laser that is projected from the nose of the aircraft. So to aim the missiles you need to fire them wait for them to get in front of your jet and then start guiding them
almost, they're radar beam guided, same as the Kh-66 missiles on the MiG-21 PFM which is why they're also not quite as accurate as laser guided beam riders because the beam is much larger due to it being a radar emitter.
You have to remember that missiles don't fly from A to B and use energy in between. The 2km range on the SRAAM is assuming it doesn't need to pull like 20Gs like the way you used it.
A tip to use AIM-7C. Only launch if they are realitivly same alt and if they are on a head on or going near you type if flight path do very long range launches too. I do not know how reliable the tip is in current meta but, it has worked well
Lock range is range the Missile can lock the target Launch range is the distance it will travel before it detonated itself Realistically dependent on Missile speed and relative velocity to enemy plane, the kill range is much shorter
0:21 this is not cap these 2km means how much the missile can travel, when you’re launching the missile you wonder Why it’s exploding at like 1-1,5KM distance to your perspective. That’s because you’re traveling too.
The lightning seriously refuses to pull up, omg that is so annoying it seems the f16 A also has the same issue and I keep getting crew lock😂 Luckily i dont have to use it anymore since im on the F16AM
the SRAAM range of 2km is not "cap" its actually 2km. You are forgettiíng the missile also travels distance when its travelling to the targets. by the time the missile approaches the target it probably flew like 1km, so this means you can only launch at about 1km. This is the same with every other missile, the longer the distance to the target the more time the target has time to fly, "reducing" the missilies effective range. lets say you shoot at 3km with AIM9B which has 4km range iirc, it will lock, but likely not hit the target because during the flight the target has moved another 1km exceeding the AIM9B range. this is why you mostly shoot at around 2-2.5km max with aim9b basically, at 1km distance, expect 1km less range, at 5km expect like 2km less range, basically every 5km expect about 1km less range. since the missiles get pretty fast after their initial acceleration phase, every 5km the enemy is away = 1km lost on range
R-13M is a wacky ass missile dude, I see it pull off side on or semi frontal locks (when R-60/M/MK barely pull shit) when its a rear aspect missile, And then proceed to track like an SRAAM half way to target before it laser beam’s right ahead to target.. R-23R’s are better at higher alts, But the better missile version after it has better countermeasures against flares. Both variants also having radar versions.
Yooooo trep it’s me again and I wasn’t Abel to set up discord so idk how we could do sum in war thunder maybe I could give you my name tag🤣 or snap or sum but if that can’t work it’s whatever grate vid loved to watch it btw just sum funny I smoked I guy in a 1v1 when he was live on TikTok lol
Because the sensor is worse than the motor + The launch range is an optimistic guess It's the range you get if you're at high altitude (so the air is thinner) and you're flying REALLY fast
@@si.ari.06 alright. But it doesn’t seem like a useful stat unless you can launch without a lock and the missiles will lock on when it gets within range.

2 km is it pulling 0G my guy
Aint a guy that blind this side of the stratosphere
I love your vids keep up the Good work
Another great day since you posted Trep
5:07 the guy in chat is crashing out💀
Would you play with viewers? Love your vids, has really helped me stay in the game and learn how to play better.
i hope this channel does well its actual good content
tbh i fr love watching this guys vids they just brighten my day after getting destroyed in war thunder fr
A tip for the r3r, I launch it at a high altitude and at 4-6km and it work perfectly
BVR be like "death from above
Your speed greatly impacts the launch range of the missile
the least thing I expected was the Laugh of Papaplatte at 8:55
The cut at 1:37 😂
_i have got a 7km+ kill with matra 530E where it ignored large caliber flares, best missile in the game_
Never heard of "War Funder" before
Tank shells next and each kill you get more pen
Incredible how the worst missile in war thunder is better then the normal missile on ac7

Me: Am I tripping or is he going down
(checks the altitude meter) Me: why tf is there a cube of cloud in the middle of the map 😭😭😭😭
Mig-29 had fire music in the background

I have fun with 7C, not good or even decent by any means but fun to use
will the modern heetseekers come to game?
Probably eventually. Only Gaijin knows
some day yes
I think so
Imagine clicking on this video without subscribing and liking. couldn't be me.
You should make a video on the slowest missile to the fastest missile❤
SRAAMs used to be so good they could pull so many Gs and it made them the best for the detestable Harrier GR.1
Thx u trep helps me a lot with the tip
R73E go crazy 😂
I think that the launch range is not How far it can hit but rather how far can it fly.
That theory is right....except for the ER
Anyone else hate the Hunter with SRAAMs? It's painful for 9.3 aicraft, glad its not flown much.

For ur next video this is an idea play 1 top teir jet from every country
@@Dragonblade5393 already done im pretty sure

i once hit an f-5e that was 7.8 KILOMETERS ABOVE ME with an r-24t dude it fr is an cruise missile
Hi Treppy
Nice one
Im surprised he is only at 57 k subs, i thought it was gonna be defenetly over 500 k subs
Me and my friend were in the first match. My friend was the one that crashed and I was the Swiss Swift.
Considering some of these IR missiles are capable of locking THE SUN, I’d say some of those stat cards need… a revision💀
Ay trep. Spade every fighter that you haven't yet
thats me who crashed in to the ground in the av8c
Can you please play the AJ viggen or the AJS viggen pls

Which nation have the best plane, like mig21, f16 and etc
