    YOU NAILED IT! You definitely should start a watch channel. I'd never seen any of your videos until this one was suggested and I must say, I bloody loved it. Your passion and love for watches is evident right from the start but what is also evident is the fact that you aren't a snob or a elitist, you own and enjoy watches from all categories and price ranges.
    Keep up the good work and I hope to see more watch related content from you in the future.

    Nice watch collection... love the Rolex and Omega... the Seiko sk is the best diver watch ... it meets the international standards.... luminous pip at 12 on the bezel, screw down crown, lume on the second hand, to be able to easily see in low light, that the watch is running. It looks like an automatic by the movement of the second hand... also good to keep the water resistant quality... I have a TAG LINK quartz but,
    I have moved away from quartz for that reason ... I don't like having to open it to change the battery...
    So it's auto or solar for me now..

    Great job consolidating the the watch collection. Are you buying a new watch with the proceeds? I too have just narrowed down mine to about 5, and I couldn’t be happier. If you do a lot of manual labor s g-shock is in order. Seiko makes several watches in that color way, by the way if you wanted another gold gild on a a bracelet. I had the SPB147J1. They’re only about 750 new and strap code sells a bracelet for it. Personally I just kept one Seiko, my SNE571P1 it’s a 38mm solar quartz but man it is a solid watch. Everything else in my collection is GS. Oh and I had a Tudor Black Bay 41mm that I dropped and broke and it was about $400 to get it serviced and repaired from Rolex so it didn’t seem that bad considering the cost of the watch. So if you ever decide to get one they last a long time and their accuracy is phenomenal. A service will set you back but no more than the cost of a decent Seiko.

    That is a great selection! The Omega that you are keeping would be a grail for me. What is the ref on the Seiko that you are wearing? Check the Squale history, amazing company. I really like the Squale history and the importance of what they have done. I just see the pepsi gmt way to imitation of the real pepsi gmt.
      The railmaster is definitely my grail watch also, I don't think that I will ever let that watch go. It's not very expensive or rare. It's just a perfect simple watch that can hold It's own in any category. I think the only watch that I would consider my ultimate almost unobtainable watch would be the 'simplicity' by Phillipe Dufour.

    Nice (current?) collection, really love the connection you make to watches/persons.
    Let me give you a piece of advice though. Before you start selling most of these, try to gift them. To friends, family, co-workers, even strangers. You'll surely miss some cash in the end, but the pleasure will be double. Not to mention the bond you'll create between the new owner and youself, this is priceless, a human story not to be forgotten... ever!
    Cheers mate, be well, enjoy whatever you love.
    PS If bracelets look fancy to you, let me tell you all analog chronographs look the same to me, all of them just end up being "fancy"/full dials that NOBODY uses, plus any cheap digital chrono will beat'em in... milliseconds! 😜 (thus, keep none!)
    PS2 Nothing beats solar as an EDC. Get more Citizen (or Seiko, Casio, whatever...)

    • @kahzhoylow4352
      @kahzhoylow4352 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol. Watch collectors will never understand the utility of watches. Most watch collectors arent collecting to USE the watch. Most of them I'd say is to satisfy their inner ego. Like you say, an Apple Watch or a cheap digital Chronograph has far more utilities than any of the mechanical watch, and still fare much cheaper.
      Watching watch collectors now is like watching, let say, old heaters collectors. Only that not many people don't exactly collect heaters and argue about the blowers, heater fins, inside, because people can't exactly boast about it to their friends.

      I have had them for a while and never ever use them. I'd rather sell them and let someone else that likes them enjoy them. The porche design I do wear and will keep. Thanks

    What model is the seiko with the compass bezel on it?
    That’s they style watch I’m after. Or if you change the bezel insert I’ll buy it off you

    You should probably keep the TAG Chrono because your wife likes it lol and one more Chrono you like probably the titanium since you seem to like it. Also check out Dan Henry's chronos, they are affordable and well made.

    For the Weiss, you could get a jeweler to grind down and polish this squared off lugs. It would look better and wear better. Good looking watch otherwise. They all are.

    Don't sell or down size your watch collection. It is rare to a Perspective Such as your. Never look at it like your hoarding watches. In my opinion A watch is a piece of art. Your father inspired you, your collection can inspire others.

    As to the Chrono question: Keep the one your wife likes and get the Seiko solar chrono in 39mm

    Love your collecting philosophy! Especially that you like to keep it low key and feel that bracelets are too flashy. Amazing collection, really like the Omega and Seiko Divers.

    Keep that Porsche Design to make it a solid 4 piece, perhaps add the BB58. Then take a break and stop buying junk, save for the GMT Master you'd adore. Enjoy the journey.

    Very enjoyable watching your critical thinking over your watches, you picked very well. I love that Railmaster ref I think I'm going to add it to my collection now, was on the hunt for a turtle 6309. Excellent taste!

    This is a great video. So many cool topics covered like your preference for leather straps over bracelets and the Black Bay 58 feels too nice for a beater type watch. I’m looking to buy my next watch right now and this was a very insightful perspective. Thank you!

    Lovely collection, keep the Carrera and use it on your wife special occasions since she loves it that much, and it looks great on you, I would keep the seiko pressage cocktail as well, it is fairly inexpensive, specially used, so you won't get much for it, and a light dial can be useful, depending on your mood or what you are dressing, even though you can make black work with pretty much anything it's cool to have at least one light dial in my opinion, or keep the first Omega, either way, it's an amazing collection, congratulations.

      Thank you very much!! Yea my wife would really be upset is I sold that watch, and I would probably keep the 35mm omega, it is just more classy. The seiko is beautiful but at 40.5 mm of almost all white dial looks big on the wrist, I have a 7" wrist and it still feels pretty big. I really appreciate your comment!!

    That Omega is a fairly rare bird with that dial by the way. It's a ref 135.070 from around 1970 with a hand wound 601 movement with what's called a silver bark dial. It's not insanely valuable at around $1000-$1500 for a good specimen but that's about triple the value compared to a normal one. Nice find.

    • @MaintenanceManNarratives
      @MaintenanceManNarratives  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it's definitely a great watch, this one also has the applied omega logo, the original omega crystal with the logo in the center... but at the end of the day it can't complete with a 6605 with a roulette date wheel and turn engine bezel. I honestly know that the omega is a great watch, but I don't really ever wear it. You definitely know your watches!

      The silver bark dial is the only one with that type of applied logo as far as I know so it's pretty cool! I have worked on a lot of vintage Omegas as a hobby watchmaker. Omegas from the 50s and 60s are great for flipping if you can do and enjoy the work that goes into restoring them. The movements were bulletproof so all they need for the most part is a service, a new strap and some polywatch and they are as good as new.

    I wouldn't call the Squale a replica of a Rolex pepsi GMT. Way bigger crown, convex crystal instead of flat, no cyclops lens, different shades (both re the blue and re the red). I'll bet the Squale is way more water resistant, too.

    Stumbled across this video while watching watch channels. It's so cool to see another blue collar dude with no fancy clothes into watches. We're a rare breed. I thought I was the only one! Lol it's actually crazy how similar we are. I also wear all my watches on straps. I feel the same way about bracelets being too flashy. Doeant fit my blue collar lifestyle. Some very cool watches you got man. Dig it!
