Kamal hassan almost included all cultures of India in a single movie ...casting was perfect probably because the language and caste of the actors in real life is same ... Tamil(kamal,vaali,vasundhara,hema Malini,sowkar janaki,yg mahendran scenes), Marathi (Atul kulkarni,maharaja scenes),Bengali (rani mukherji), sindhi (lalvani), punjabi muslim(sharukh),nasruddin shah (as gandhi - gujarati) sikhs(in riot scenes), kerala (nair in ram's house in calcutta in a scene), kannadiga ( person who escorts ram to hotel in delhi)...costumes,art direction was perfect .....worth for oscar .. probably the first (of its kind )pan indian movie....

"Manmadhan Ambu" - REALLY?! AaLavandhaan lacked the balance between the yin (had too much of it) and yang; only the negative character was carved out so well that KH probably forgot to chisel the other characters which just appear and disappear for the sake of it. That is a grave mistake in direction.
RANI WITHOUT MAKE-UP IS STUNNINGLY "A NATURAL BEAUTY." HEY RAM WAS ALSO NOMINATED FOR OSCARS. (For This movie The "GENIUS KAMAL HAASAN" had asked Rani to Act WITHOUT MAKE-UP). Kamal was Director & Actor for the movie.
