Love Mama's Family! I loved watching it when I was little and now I'm able to rewatch all the episode's. I call it my "comfort show" just to have on as background noise if I don't have time to sit down

I don't care who makes fun of me- I LOVE this show! Always have, for 25 years now. It's not a type of humor for everyone but when every character clearly has their own identity, I can't help but love it.
Anytime a TV star have a talk show and they start having reunions from their former shows you know the talk show is near cancellation. However, I LOVE “MAMA’S FAMILY.”

I really do love the ability to watch old shows and see comments and posts from other people underneath because it's amazing how much people notice that you yourself didn't notice. I remember watching this video when it was first posted before there were any comments and not really noticing any of the rudeness and snobbery that Vicki Lawrence engages in in this interview. Fastforward umpteen years later, the comment section is filled and I completely notice all of her rudeness and arrogance in this interview. It's all about her and her damn character. It's funny you all notice this because I got this same feeling of snobbery even before I saw these comments last year during the Mama's Family reunion for her DVD in 2013. They did roundtable talk about the show just last year. And it was so obnoxious how Allan Kayser and all these series beautiful uplifting remarks about Vicki and Vicki just sat there like she deserved it all, had nothing to say in response, not so much as a thank and just moved on to her accolades. it's clear that nothing has changed about this woman in 20 years. I like Mama but not Vicki Lawrence. And the supporting characters were a big reason for Mama's success but Vicki probably thought it was all about Mama.
Mama's Family airs on ION Television where I live on the east coast. Those audience members asked the worst questions, and I also picked up on a bit of animosity between Vicky and Beverly. We all know she went on to Major Dad, but when the question was asked it didnt get answered....still love the show.

She should have had Buzz and Sonya on there. I enjoyed their characters, and they were were there from the beginning. I hate how Vicki just forgets them and rarely talk of them.

@MAinsworth0375 That's because syndication was more recent for them. This was in 1992 and they had just finished the syndication series 2 years before. By then, the network series was almost 10 years ago for them.
Late 1992 or early 1993, it was during that TV season. Betty White mentioned they were doing Golden Palase and that aired only one year after the Golden Girls ended in 1992.
I always loved this show, I still watch every evening on MeTv. When the character of Vinten came into the show, he was with his two grown kids. He acted smart, later, I always wondered why he turned so stupid. Even his voice changed. Then as time went on, his kids were gone.Made it seem as if they never had existed. When he and Skeeter later had their baby, seemed like the show forgot he had ever had kids. Even Skeeters voice went from 'smart' to high and silly.
Writers change everuthing or producers. Guess unless you are " Mama" yoy have no say so about your characters. I noticed that also ! But love all the cast anyway, better than todays T.V. and a actor has to make a buck !
I saw Vicki's original daytime talk show and parts have been edited out here...especially when Alan (Bubba) Kayser said he left show business to marry and become a minister. However, things turned out the opposite years later. Vicki appeared recently on a shopping channel to commemorate a holiday release of The Carol Burnett Show boxset.
Wow did Vicky and Beverly have issues in real life? What was that all about when Beverly says "One of these days you're gonna accept an invitation." and Vicky says "Next time you invite me I will."
In the 2013 reunion Vicki says “I was terrible at keeping in touch” and Beverly said “oh you always were” which sounds logical to me. Seems Vicki just wasn’t one to keep in touch with anyone (except maybe Carol Burnett). If there were any issues between Vicki and Beverly I don’t think it was that serious
Dang, Beverly Archer really exercised restraint. (Seriously) Was "Vicki" an NBC show and as such it was illegal or warranting death to mention CBS shows?!
So called experts say tight jeans on guys look bad? Well look at Allan Kayser. Season one he wore baggy jeans .Goofy cartoonish flat butt. After that he wore tight jeans! He looks FANTASTIC IN TIGHT JEANS! He looks more masculine.clean cut and far better in tight jeans!
The show was good, but not ever having Carol Burnette in the syndicated episodes was odd. I mean, I know the backstage reasons for it not happening, but it was still jarring.

My gawwwd! That was painful to watch! I have never seen the show Mama's Family nor Vicki, but as an outside observer could see Vicki is pretty much up herself. Always talking about herself, or her character. Poor 'Iola' was never involved by Vicki at all. The questions by the audience are cringe value. You'd think the producers would have asked prior to the show then picked the questions which were interesting or appropriate! Ken Berry looked like he wanted to just hide under a chair!
Mama's family will always be my favorite sitcom of all time.

I wondered what happened to Buzz and Sonja. Everybody else was written in on where they were (ie: Aunt Fran, Ellen, Eunice) except Buzz and Sonja.
Beverly Archer's gotten typecast as such characters as Iola and Gunny. Maybe she decided she had had enough.
