Watch Sal interview Todd McFarland is like watching your favorite football team win the Super Bowl, like “they made it!!!! Whooo!!!!”, I’m so happy for Sal, great episode
I think comic movies are going to go one of 2 ways. 1 straight up adaptations, or (and what’s more likely) 2 they steal the predator 1 & 2 formula it’s Se7en but Batman’s in it, it’s good bad and the ugly but Wolverine is in it, it’s a slasher film but Spawns the slasher
Not a Spawn fan but it’s always cool to hear Todd talk. Man is business savvy and is motivational. Also as Sal has said multiple times in the past ‘Spawn is dope af’.
I loved the point Todd made about relaunches. For me, it's a bit harder to read long running books (or characters' chronologies) when they keep relaunching their titles. I know trade paperbacks and epic collections help to keep things in order for easier reading, but it's still kind of a hassle.
Todd is always one off the best interviews full of interesting insight and thoughts- in a way he reminds me of shooter ( the good parts and not the problems everyone cites - let’s remember how prescient he was in seeing what the upcoming trends and failures would. Be in comics and tried his damndest to keep Valiant Comics from falling into that trap in thier original incarnation) Sal these creator interviews are so fun - I’m really glad you are still doing them as they are one of the best free schools for learning about how to get into the comics industry out there
This was great! It’s cool to see the channel continue to get big-name creators for interviews. It was cool to see Todd being super casual and just stoked about making cool comics and cool toys!
Oh my goodness! I was listening on my earphones and skipped to this video without looking, and it pleasently surprised me to hear you were able to get the man the myth the legend himself on the show! Good job, Sal!
Okay but seriously super hero’s in the comics got fatigued and just kinda ran its course in the 90’s, and Spawn came out and bought people back in, what if the Spawn movie truly revives the genre.
I really enjoyed todd talking about why he likes gunslinger spawn and gave us details about the character ive seen the character before just from a cover… is 350 a good jumping on point? Or if im mainly interested in gunslinger read his book… i like the dynamic of normal spawn getting helped by gunslinger just so he can be sent back to the past
5:32 Idk Todd "disappeared" from Spawn between issues 151-299🤷covers don't count lol Once Capullo left the "magic" left for me as a kid back then, it's only been since issue #300 it started to have an expansive, cohesive, logical storyline that's easier to follow & get into...the magic resurfaces at times.
What is with all these interviews?? ComicPop’s been knocking it out of the park lately
Lowkey has been the status quo since 2014
Right??
Sal's got that secret sauce
Editorial mandate
A bit disappointed Todd doesn't start off every interview with: "y'know the darkness has all kinds of fucked up shit inside it..."
McFarlane’s Spawn was what got me into comics, Sal is what has kept me into comics. Love seeing these two chat

Holy Shit! You aren't talking about Todd McFarlane, You're talking TO him. Way to go Sal. And, thanks to Todd for taking the time to talk to Sal.

Always great to hear how excited Todd is about whatever he's doing. I aspire to that level of passion.

King Spawn and Gunslinger Spawn are two of my favorite independent comics and the fact that it's only $2.99 I have to support it.

Gunslinger spawn is the reason I’m reading spawn today it’s such An amazing book about an underdog who’s always underestimated
Awesome interview! Todd always has great perspectives
Todd should consider a narration voice role in the movie 👀 that description of gs future was so vivid
Dave Sim is a benchmark for most issues written for sure.
Todd is spot on with his movie predictions. Really hoping the Spawn movie is successful.

Extraction 1 & 2 only thing that comes to mind for me.
Great to see Todd again! It is such good timing I was just watching your previous interviews with him this week!
I wish half of the industry higher ups and suits were as focused and passionate as Todd is.

Can someone count how many times Todd mentioned money and business?
Happy birthday spawn
Why didn't you ask him when we're getting that next Harry Houdini appearance Sal, my king of Culture?
Because that's not my name.
It's cool haha. He's kinda like Zack Snyder in that regard. But I should continue listening
Love this
