Thank you so much, dear Fatima, for sharing this endearing part of Lahore's history. I grew up in my Grandfather's (allotted) house at 12 Jail Road. Next to this house, stood an exquisite marble mansion ( also built pre-partition) at 16 Jail Road. Unfortunately both structures were neglected and destroyed by future generations. @@neeleshfatterpekar5936 Sadly same is happening to muslims in India today. Constant harassment, destruction of their historic Masjids ( like the recent burning of a 110 Madrasa in Bihar by BJP goons which contained 4000 historic books too ) , altering history books to suit Hindutva propaganda, disenfranchising muslims and their contributions to India, and abuse by the right wing government . In his recent speech in Telangana, Amit Shah talked about taking away reservations for muslims in education. I'm scared for the safety of Muslims in India and their rights. Communal discord is already on the rise as evident by the recent resurgence of the Khalistani movement in Punjab because of the right wing government's overeach. One cant even question or criticise the government, as clearly seen when Amir Khan was abused when he rightly pointed out that intolerance was growing in India. Which shows India is turning into a dictatorship and Modi as the supreme dictator who remained mum on the Adani corruption case because of his obvious links to the billionaire and his offshore shell companies. South states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu already have increased animosity and do not like the central government because of the beef ban, manipulating the Indian constitution and going against the decree of an individuals right to eat what they want. Karnataka has also seen recent skirmishes because of the central government and Amit Shah's call for hindi imposition on south indian states causing more disintegration than harmony. So many constitutional rules broken, so much violence, so much propaganda, so many rights taken from the people. I think if this goes on, 2002 is going to repeat in India, only this time not just limited to Gujarat but in multiple states in India. Khalistan is just the beginning. If the Indian right wing government goes on this rampage, imposing their hindutva ideals, more states will ask for autonomy. All this will ensure the downfall of India. 😭

I feel like we are only now seeing some stories of Partition thanks to TH-cam. The tragedy is we in Pakistan of a certain generation have no clue what entailed in the Batwara. Society was truly changed by an unholy idea of communalism. There was a Lahore which we only now imagine by stories of tearfully abandoned homes at the stroke of a doomed midnight.

Really, it was very sad experience, the family was forced to leave because they refaced to convert and they were Hindus.
Very well said. Partition was shattering for all.
For centuries they lived and thrived
On that land they called their own
A place where their ancestors survived
And their culture and traditions shone
But then came a time of division
Of lines drawn on maps and hearts
Of hatred and religious derision
And the tearing apart of homes and hearths
Those who lived there for thousands of years
Were suddenly deemed outsiders and foes
Their fate decided by rulers and fears
And their lives upheaved in one cruel blow
They were forced to leave their land behind
To cross borders and start anew
Leaving everything they knew and defined
Their roots, their memories, their truth
The reasons for their forced migration
Were rooted in politics and strife
A struggle for power and domination
And the cost of human life
But despite the pain and the loss they bore
Their resilience and spirit remain
Their memories and traditions they still adore
And their hope for a better future sustain
For they know that home is not just a place
But a feeling that lives in the heart
And their love and connection can never be erased
By borders or lines drawn apart.

It's beautiful place Allah pak aap ko ye ghar mubarak kere❤
Thanks for Sharing, my mother is from a Mehta family in Lahore, she was born in Batala, often heard from her that she visited her Buajee in Lahore from Derababa Nanak Amritsar, my Nana's name was Dwarka das, Mehta..
Felt very happy and emotional to see the name plate intact with the original owner...a hindu owner
Beautiful concept ,projecting the practicality of homes and the highlight being old architecture . But a detailed and panned photo narration would have put 'char chand ' to this wonderful nostalgic view. Well spoken lady narrating the backstory. Great effort 👍
Such gentle people!
Beautifully narrated .... story of human tragedies woven into lovely tapestry. Thanks for sharing a life lessons gracefully.🙏💐🙌
I've landed myself in a mine of diamonds, can't thank you enough for this channel!
Crying to watch ❤ Salute you ma'am respect from Delhi, India
My grandfather house was built on jail road lahore called Taj palace we used to live there it was built in 1921.
Yes. I saw it from jail road 20 years back when it was intact but now ruins of building there
I know that place from my childhood. It was opposite to services hospital. My cousin was a Dr at Services and she was friends with lady of the house and I remember visiting the house where I met three little girls of my age. I think I am not mistaken in recalling that mansion.
Beautifully shot and narrated! And Ma'am s erudition and class just added to it! Well done! Love and respect from Bangalore, India!
Amazing work. All of this should be documented.
The Lady is So Royal in her narration,
She is a spritual person Who is not intrested in material possessions but intrested in the people and their lives.
My grandfather too opted to come to Temple Road from the walled city. Our old ancestral home is 68 Temple Road. Have lovely memories 💖
All these homes belong to Sikhs and Hindus, who your people killed for froced to leave so that you guys can take over their properties. Karma has great way of getting back.
We should be proud of our historical place but I was surprised to see that ppl of Lahore as they think to modernize this city city of walls became the city of concrete I cam after 15 yrs whole city is changed thank you for this beautiful narration great job plz keep it up
Brilliant ❤❤❤... I always feel fascinated by these kinds of homely architectures.. ❤
I really do wish that you renovated the house please. Its got amazing history

Wonderful watch and the lady is so graceful. Its heart wrenching to witness such stories as my family too had to give away everything in Dhaka and come to Assam.
WOW!! I am memorized.
Unbelievable what is sentimental and beautifully told story
why is the house is such state of repair?
Thank you for sharing your own story, amazing house.
Saddening and inspiring !! Would look forward to more videos of surviving antique houses in Lahore. Stay blessed!
Excellent job. Very impressive and heart touching....
So so well narrated! Your voice Fatima, is soothing, informative, cultured and deeeeeep. Thank you
Absolutely fascinating ❤ I love history especially the colonial pre-partition structures and architecture as well as the stories! ❤❤❤
Brilliant narration. Took me back in time..
Love to visit to see old historical buildings places people. Its have attraction for tourists. Keep safe these places. Thanks sharing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! 😊 And what a rich way of preserving history
Very painful for Hindus and Sikh Punjabis whose homes and business were captured by followers of Jinnah.
Nothing more to Say BEAUTIFUL.....
Nice video and wonderful thoughts. Best part is that they didn't change the name plate, it shows richness in family owning it now
Richard C Temple 's unique contribution is Folk Tales of Punjab.
Thanks for making this beautiful video…though my family never had any partition story, being a North Indian I have grown up hearing about it….
Thank you🌹

Kash log displace na hotay, jahan thay wahin rehtay, kaash riots na hotay😢
an artical about mehta’s son (he was blind and a writer of repute) in new yorker was published this week (article “the sighted world “
It was wonderful to hear the story of this house.
very interesting linkages of the past with the present
Amazing narration.....superb vdo....an enriching experience
A narration like symphony, so enchanting.
@@humairapiracha659 The property owned by Muslims in India (who migrated to Pakistan) is now owned by Waqf board which is the Third largest property owner in India after defense and railways. This Waqf board is a autonomous corrupt board that was granted rights to claim any property in India by simply proclaiming so, to appease the Muslim vote. Good luck trying to get permission to film anything on their property ...without getting a fatwa issued in your name, Inshallah, we will remove this cancer called Waqf and then show all the properties to Pakistani brothers and sisters
Great work done to share this ... honestly at times I feel like if i can vist past abd could stop all nonsense....even the conversation of religion because what people forgot is that we are human first and then follow some religious path ...... This religion thing has seriously taken a lot of thing from human race
beautiful ! A Blessed House indeed
