      Where they sell them for under $500? And you paid off roster $450😂😂😂😂😂 I bet you don’t own even the grip of a p365. I own every p365 XL X regular P365 and Macro and non was selling for under $500. And by the way the one in California are optic ready with Flat trigger, if you own p365 as you claim , u got curved trigger and no optic option, they sell for $749 with Romeo Zero that makes it a good price for Californian .
      Regular P365’s were selling from $1000 to $1500 in California 6 months ago. Off roster gun used, But you bought it for $450

    Sig Sauer is making $$$ for the 1st one to bring the M18 to California. The newest addition since micro stamping is not required . California gun market is so huge specially for anti gun state and that's why Glock still makes gen 3. Gun manufacturers need tap in to California market and start bringing the new cool guns to the roster.

    • @ToddCotta
      @ToddCotta  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      In 2014 Glock had the Gen 4 guns out at that time but they required the loaded chamber indicator and the magazine disconnect. Glock will not disable their guns with a magazine disconnect. So we could have had generation 4 guns but Glock did not want to compromise.

    I went with the P365 for the same reason the P320 is so popular. The modularity and flexibility. You can use any slide and once that idiotic magazine disconnect is removed (and the manual safety if you want), you can also use any grip module. If you want a longer, thicker, or different grip... just buy one. Want a longer barrel... purchase one.

    I live in Southern California, and my local indoor range has off-roster guns for rent. So, I rented the Sig P365, and shot it side by side with my on-roster Kahr PM9. I found the Sig P365 to actually feel snappier with more muzzle flip than my Kahr PM9. Now they also had a Sig P365XL with the flat trigger for rental, that recoiled much better than the P365.

    100% you had your thumb on the slide that caused it to not go into battery but you figured it out. For people that have issues with the grip I highly recommend to upgrade to Wilson Combat grip. And even better use the Wilson Combat X or XL grip. You get that beaver tail and better grip angle and it contours perfectly into your palm with slight ergonomic swell. I notice I shoot with more confidence, control and accuracy and I don’t even notice snappiness or recoil anymore. It’s an affordable upgrade that absolutely is worth every penny

Two fun facts: adding the XL grip gets rid of the magazine lock, and Sig Sauer technically does not manufacture the CA compliant models for modularity. Gentlemen, thank you for the thorough review of the CA compliant P365. I hope this question is not to late but could you expand on why the empty mag safety is unsafe? I don’t agree with any of the California requirements but if the gun could be potentially more dangerous, I would like to know. Thank you again.

    • @ToddCotta
      @ToddCotta  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The magazine disconnect disables the trigger when the magazine is out of the gun, not when it is empty. My people practice dry fire with a gun when they are not at a range. The fundamentals of Dry Practice is to have a completely empty gun. Having to put a magazine in the gun to practice causes two problems. #1 it could be a loaded mag, #2 is it locks back when you cycle the slide, when it would not lock back if there was no mag in the gun. Locking back makes the gun pointing direction change and causes delays in training. The biggest issue is that If you are doing a tactical mag change, and have one round in the chamber, the gun is useless while you are transitioning to a new mag. This is dangerous because if you are defending yourself and you need that round it is not available to you. I hope this explains why we said what we said. Thanks for asking.

    Always use a gun that fits your hand.
    If a shooter has a big hand, a pistol with small grip will be difficult to shoot 10:10 .
    Also, don't ever use the thumbs forward grip with a small pistol.
    The thumbs will get too close to the slide 11:45 .
    Thumbs forward gripping a small pistol could easily get you killed in a real fight.

    However, the extended base plate is preferable for larger hands.

    Of course I find this out after pre paying for a Kahr PM9. I was gonna use the magguts kit and add the +1 for 7+1. I just needed a tiny pocket carry for when I go walking in the summer honestly. I bought 2 of the 8 round mags to have back ups. Kinda sucks on one hand because I've wanted the hellcat since it came out before I moved here. Honestly outsiders only know about our 10 round rule. No one talks about the idiotic roster. So when I moved here and found out I couldn't have it I was livid to say the least. But LA county will only allow 3 guns for carry on the permit. I secured a glock 30 and 26. Just needed the kahr to fill that niche in my life. I'm not sure I could do a hellcat in the pocket anyways. If you're familiar with athletic wear that is designed to be breathable it's extremely thin and the pockets are tiny. You only have a draw string keeping it on. So I think the Kahr was still probably the best choice for me as my 3rd gun for the horrible heat in SoCal during the summer.

      @@ToddCottahonestly if the glock 30 is something I carry a hellcat should be fine. But not for my pocket in the summer. I tend to wear that special breathable type athletic clothing in the summer because I hate the heat. I'm from Pennsylvania. I don't do warm weather too well tbh. But I'm trying to live a more active lifestyle. So I am walking a lot; including in the heat. So for that a little PM9 just made sense. Otherwise I IWB the glock 30 in winter and late fall and otherwise a glock 26. I don't feel undergunned with either. But I like the big holes the .45 can make. Don't have a permit yet. So, there are actually 3 features (not 2) that are different about the California compliant P365. The magazine disconnect, the loaded chamber indicator, AND the manual safety. I don't believe I've seen a manual safety on any other version of the P365. Not sure if the sights are unique from their description. The manual safety is a BIG difference. At least the California P365s come with an optics plate. I wonder if some of the other versions of the P365 will be released in California? Not that they'll do much good for the shooters due to the 10 round capacity limit on all magazines sold in California.

    Hi, Thank you for your presentation on this sig p365. I take it, that its a 9mm?
    I have a question, 115, or 124 grain or even 147 grain. What is the grain referring to?
    1. The weight of gun powder?
    2. Or the weight of the bullet?
    3. What is the largest grain recommended by professionals for this p365?
    4. I just purchased the Massachusetts compliant version of the p365, 9mm, for the most part, it is identical to the California p365. I bought mine for $597
    5. Can you guys talk about the changing out and demonstrate, how to upgrade to an extended slide release.
    6. Your model looks the same as mine, and for the record, I like having a safety. But, I called sig in NH, and they said my sig is not Red ready for a red dot.
    6. I think in both of our cases, we need to purchase an upgraded slide.
    7. This is the first sig I have ever purchased, but I would really appreciate you guys digging in and helping me/us with some feedback on these other little details.
    Thank you, for all of your time and efforts!
    -Harry

    • @ToddCotta
      @ToddCotta  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      115 is fine. The difference between 115 grain vs. 124 grain 9mm ammo is the weight of the bullet, with 115 grain bullets being lighter than 124 grain bullets. Basically, the 115 grain rounds are light and fast and the 124 grain rounds are heavy and slow.

    If its a striker pistol I demand a manual safety. I will not buy a striker pistol without one. Carrying a striker pistol without a manual safety is like carrying a 1911 without a grip safety cocked but not locked. A light single action trigger just waiting to snag on something when least expected causing a negligent discharge. Not even Jeff Cooper recommended carrying in condition zero. A manual safety is no big deal. Train with it. It does not take any longer on the draw to flip the safety off with the thumb. If folks don't want to use it they don't have to but it would be there for folks that do and for folks that need it.
