  • The Carles' household is home to one of Britain's most extraordinary families: Meet Ellie, Georgie, Jessica and Holly - the UK's only identical quadruplets.
    With matching curls, clothes and infectious giggles, the girls are almost impossible to tell apart - even their family still struggle. Mother Julie is only the 27th woman in the world to conceive monochorionic quads naturally and now runs a hectic household along with father, Jose.
    We follow these miracle girls in the run up to their fifth birthday, sharing with them some of the milestones of their lives from Christmas to their first day of term. On the way, we'll explore how the girls are growing up and changing, and using psychological testing will examine how different the quads really are. This is an intimate portrait of an extraordinary family that answers the big question - what's it really like to be Four of a Kind?

    I love and appreciate that their father said, though he has a long work day, he goes home aware he will have about 10 minutes for a cup of coffee and then has 3 or so HOURS for cuddles or chaos and he happily accepts that. What a great guy!!!

    One thing is for sure, these quads have been in good hands from day one, right from the beginning of the pregnancy. The Mother & Father, the Doctors, the Surgeons, the School and the agencies who've studied their personalities. Everyone has their best intentions at heart. I am a identical triplet and when my parents went away for a weekend my grandparents switched me in my sister. My mom was the one who noticed after a whole other day went by. After that we had a little nails painted different colors. We love to laugh about that now! It was hard to let outsiders in but now that I am 16 it is a lot easier to but we are very close. I love it! The best part is that we love to look alike so we try to as much as we can because we think it is kinda cool for it to be hard for people who aren't as close to us not to be able to tell us apart. We also like to switch and do things for each other as each other. we don't do it that often but we have in the past. I love being a triplet.

      @hayleyjaine1064 5 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      I know two sets of identical twins and they grew up dressing the same until they turned 11 when they went to high school. Reason for it was they would argue when they were younger about what they wanted to wear. They would choose outfits but later on in the day would want to be wearing what the other was wearing so their parents found it easier to dress them the same until they were old enough to choose and not drive their parents crazy with temper tantrum. It’s not just identicals, you see it sometimes in siblings with very close ages like a year or two apart that parents dress them the same too to avoid tantrums

I’m guessing you’re not a risk taker, maybe, so only her solution seems logical to you, but the sisters risked losing the stickers they already had to get more stickers, as I understood it. @@ingusch3783 no no, youre misunderstanding what i mean. these are 4 year olds and while i have no doubt they understood the rules (pirate means you lose your stickers) i highly doubt all four of them understood THAT they were taking a risk. ellie understood there was a risk are chose not to take it. with the others we cant tell if they UNDERSTOOD they were taking a risk or just took it without understanding the different possible outcomes. thats why the lady specifically commented on ellie being "confident" in her decision because its apparent ellie knows that chance is involved and she doesnt want to risk it.

    What a wonderful experience for you visiting the American female teenagers. I had a total of 4 girls! My oldest was 4&1/2 years old when my fraternal twin girls were born & my youngest daughter was born when my twins were 20 months old! Today one of my twins is the mother of two girls and 1 boy. My youngest daughter has 4 boys and one girl. My oldest daughter is married and the stepmom of twin girls and my other twin is not married and doesn’t have any children! When my twins started kindergarten ( half days back then, the school had one attend AM session, the other PM session). That was actually a good thing for me because it allowed me to have individual time with all 4 girls. Especially it helped me to stop treating the younger 3 as a pod! When the twins started 1st grade the school had 3 first grades so it helped them to develop a lot of individuality but they to this day all 4 girls have remained very close. My youngest daughter, who’s husband just retired from the USMC, just moved back east and because of Skype, visits here throughout his career all my grandchildren have never not known each other and have developed close bonds with each other. I think that you and your husband are wonderful parents and your girls will continue to grow and thrive and become wonderful individuals like the girls you met on your visit to America. Although like your 4 beauties your meeting 4 teenager identical girls you can see that the future is bright for your own! Thank you for allowing the world to “peek” into the intimacy of your family life! Expressing your emotion your tears are kisses of love you hold for the unique gift of life God bestowed on you!

      @@AllThePeppermint Excellent point. I looked it up: Not all states require footprints for a birth certificate here in the states, and who knows if the hospital where these twins (in the UK) were born did it? Maybe upcoming parents, especially of multiples, can plan ahead to do the ink prints at home (can Google how to do it).

My twin boys as is common in teh Uk were put into different classes at school at 4. the school let us choose. The boys wanted different classes, the school recommended that and only seemed concerned they might want to be together; then went to the same school and now the same UK university actually ( so have not yet split even at US college/UK university stage) but are nicely apart there, just knowing their twin is there for support if needed. The bond is so close, so different from my single children but not in any sense creepy and mine are non identicals and very different.

They read into it, pick it apart, twist it to no end , just to make it sound offensive so they can have a reason to complain. And God forbid if you disagree with them. This is a story, a very real story about 4 remarkable beautiful children, and two people that love each other, and love thier children to no end. If your so miserable with life that you must make everyone around you miserable, maybe just maybe it's too much to ask to take a step back and realize you are worthy of being loved as well ??

      I'd image it's not an easy choice, they were fortunate to have them all.
      A friend of mine was supposed to be a quad but she and her mom were the only ones to survive. That's the other side of the story I'm afraid, it's like a gamble you could risk losing them all (including the mum) with the choices.
      They were the lucky 20% that means there are 80% that didn't go as well as this.
      And that's not to say that 80% deiced to terminate, it's more than they were unlucky.
