    The Timberline is one of my all time favorites. The burnt area is spectacular in fall, when the white trees contrast with the red and gold foliage. Glad to see I’m not the only person that remarks OMG! How beautiful! every 50 feet ;)

    That was my first backpacking trip as a teen over 40 years ago, in my 60's now. Been hiking and camping ever since. I'm just now getting back into backpacking. I can't wait to do this one again!

    Glad you made it out here, Will. Timberline Trail is one of my favorites - have done it several times now. The trail was officially closed for about 20 years starting in 1996 because a section of trail was washed out in a flood and no funds were allocated to restoring it. So glad they got it fixed up a couple of years ago. Ramona Falls is one of my favorite spots anywhere.

    I did this solo as the first of my multi night backpack trips...incredible experience I will never forget. I'm so glad you go to as well.

    Anyone hiking clockwise, when heading up the long ridge (in this video) directly toward the mountain, near the top, after a couple of shortish switchbacks, look for an unmarked trail to your right; It's the unofficial connecting section of the McNeil 'loop'. It gets a bit steep and a tad technical but you can make it up with moderate packs. You end up at McNeil shelter and can sit on some rocks perched high above the Muddy Fork which you crossed earlier. The view to your left up at the mountain and directly across to Yocum Ridge is my favorite spot on the mountain loop. Complete the McNeil loop on the official trail through some gorgeous subalpine terrain. Descend a bit and then back on the Timberline trail.

    Welcome to Oregon. Glad you three could make it to hike such a great trail. Have followed you (Will) on TH-cam a lot.
    I have hiked much of the trails around Mt. Hood. I also have the duplex and Arc Haul. Plus many other items from Zpacks.
    It sounds like you guys were happy with the hike. Thanks for coming to Oregon.

    Just loving the views. That shot of Mt Hood and the tent set up needs to be forwarded to the marketing dept. That shot will sell baby sell! Beg my pard for that outburst.

    I do all my hiking in New
    England. I am impressed with the well groomed trails, almost like a dirt road, that's rare in rocky New England.

    Just curious why you are wearing your hood in a number of shots but talking about the heat? Testing?

    • @RedBeard0924
      @RedBeard0924  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good question. The shirt I’m wearing is actually designed for warm weather and sun protection. It’s lightweight, extremely breathable and wicks sweat away. A hood doesn’t necessarily mean cold weather clothing now a days. ✌️

    Are mountain bikes allowed on this trail??

    • @RedBeard0924
      @RedBeard0924  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No mountain bikes allowed. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they did have mountain bike specific trails somewhere in the area.
