Our ancestors had built one of a kind masterpiece for next generations years to come only to be destroyed by a handful of looters. This is beyond humbling. My first response is to weep. Humanity has been so unkind and cruel to one another. Sometimes it is a wonder that any art from the past remains. Humanity is old. Art history is a revelation of who we are and where we have been. To lose ourselves is an unbearable loss.

@@friedasorber1653 I guess you can go back until the first colonisations, no? From a western standpoint that should be easy to track and if there is any kind of crime, like looting, displacing people, or any dubious deals involved it should be restored to the origin country.

@@friedasorber1653 YES. Return all artifacts to the countries from which they were stolen. Greece has been requesting the British Museum to return a piece of the Elgin Marbles, but have instead been met with patronizing lectures of, "oh, but it's _humanity's_ treasure. The Greeks aren't fit to protect it like we are. But it's okay, we'll let you keep a modern copy of Elgin Marbles for your own museum!"
How patronizing. Return the artifacts and keep a copy for the British Museum instead. It doesn't matter if the original creators are all dead. It's still part of Greek history and culture. Same with everything else stolen by British Museum (and any museum, for that matter).

It could have been sold to dealers all over the world to never be seen again. At least his daughter knew and did the right thing. Latchforf ! He’s just a criminal mindset for stealing and looting unethically our Ancient artifacts. He aware and know how priceless these ancient jewels histories are . I’ll believe Larchford didn’t commit this criminal activities alone but with the corporations from the neighboring people that has knowledges about Khmer Empire it’s massives territories full of valuable items. Even some part of Cambodia lands and soils has been also excavated and remove in a largely amount in exchange to help re-construct Khmer roads , I wouldn’t mentioned wich Khmers province but I assuredly know and living there before we fled the war . That part of province it’s full of minerals , gemstones, rubies are a wellknown province for its natural resources and gemstones that’s were my families were native from . But after we fled the Genocides (1975-1979) That province it’s been drill , and excarvated the soils just the soils itself to be imported to other neighbors countries for its valuable minerals that’s its hidden. Also ,If Latchford love Khmers country and know what we’ve been through! he would do otherwise or participated in some sort of a kinds activities that will change the lives of Cambodians people but instead he’ll chose to be a criminal looters . Send our gratitude for men that has our utmost respect as Anderson and my utmost respect to the Americain lawyer fore their dedications and for he’s love of Cambodia . God bless.

It is wonderful that they have had the opportunity to get these items back. But, The back story is always going to be more complicated than just give it back....Cambodia turned into hell on earth during the turbulent years of a communist revolution. People were not allowed to honor their past, and it was sold to whomever would pay. If a "collector" hadn't bought it, very likely to have been chopped up, melted down etc. and would be gone forever. History just isn't that black and white...every civilization has taken the "spoils" of the losing civilization...as is depicted on monuments of triumph throughout the world. It is not just a British or American or Germany vice.

And the greatest loss that a person loses in this life is that he lives while he does not know God who created him, knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. The great intelligence, before you believe in something or not, is to read it, study it, and understand it well, and then you have the choice to believe in it or not. I advise you on this now before you do not have time to do that.

The Cambodian people have played a big part in the looting as well as their respective governments. The Cambodian government should have to bye them back. Call it retroactive preservation costs otherwise, they would have bin eroding away in the jungle, you think that is where they are going to put them back ? most likely not. They will likely go to a museum for tourists in Cambodia hopefully a non profit.

    "...(R)eturn of Cambodia's national pride."
    This confuses me.
I thought "national pride", or "Nationalism", was an inherently bad thing.
Or is that just when Democrats are speaking about the United States?

The truth is that Khom are Siamese people. Been here for 6000 years The Khmers are the Cham people who have been here for just over a thousand years.Khmers are Cham people from the island of Sumatra. Immigrated to the territory of Cambodia and Vietnam over a thousand years ago. The French and Khmers have been lying to you to believe they are ancient Khom for over a hundred years. Please know that Khom are not Khmer Cambodians. Khom people are Siamese people. Golden Boy is King Jayavaramam VI, with a robe that has fins running down it.
It is a sculpture of a person, not a god. clearly indicates that Phimai art It is a local art in the south-eastern region. 200 years before the Nakorn Wat or Angkor Wat era, which is not found in Cambodia at all.
