    Great choice on the fuji system. I hAve been painting with one for about 10 yrs and i love it. I have three pistols one for clear, base, primer. You can eliminate the check valve since you went with the pps system, all it does is prevent paint from back feeding into the gun.

    What an intriguing option to conventional air compressor spray painting! Seems like a great finish can be shot with a bit of fine tuning. Thanks for another great video, Dave!

    That looks like a super fun tool. I am getting from the review that if the price wasn't much different from the conventional spray painting system the turbine option would be by far the better way to go. Rock on David...Happy Labor Day!

    Hey David, it looks like a great finish you ended up with. I think your door looks really nice and can't wait for you to use it on your Jeep body. For me with very little painting that I do anymore, I will stick with my HVLP system although that system that you have is very nice. Besides I would have to run it across my wife (Boss ) Ha Ha . Great video sir and I will catch you on your next video;.

  • @jamisonr

    What I've found while getting into HVLP, is that $1500 is the start. I wanted to be ready for anything, so I bought all the needle and air cap sets, they're like $85 each, plus multiple sprayers (gotta have bottom and gravity feed!), all the extra consumables like the check valves and the little filters for the bottom feed gun, the PPS system which really saves a lot of clean up time more than anything. I'm more like $2500 in and I'm just a guy that wanted to paint some cabinets! But I've found this thing paints so nice that I want to see what else people do, hence the reason I'm watching you paint a car! I put a 1.8 in and unthinned concrete paint, and the Q5 made quick work of painting the garage foundation. Maybe 1 hour to do it.

    Nice video. I've been using the same system for some years now...just a tip, also based on fuji's recommendations, stage 5 (highest setting) is what's recommended for automotive coatings. It allows for uptimal atomization without without having to open up the fluid too much and flooding the surface which could/ will cause runs spraying vertically .
    Keep up the good work though.

    Yeah I sweat in my paint while painting because I'm FAT! Not saying you're like that though. Always liked the turbine spray idea. It may have protection I don't know but air through a turbine is normally how it's cooled so I normally am very afraid to have it turned on without any air path (no trigger pulled constantly). It may have overheat protection built in I'm not sure.

    • @RedneckGarage
      @RedneckGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fittings do get hot as ^$%% but I believe it does have heat protection. Nice thing is you turn it on and blam your spraying and then turn it off as soon as your done. I may be sweating fat into the paint as well hahahaha

    You don't need the check valve with PPS. It's for the cup that comes with the gun to keep paint from cup going into the gun.

      @@RedneckGarage No problem. Also for the splatters you got, the adjustment on the packing nut is sensitive. It tells how to adjust it in the manual. I had the same issues. I just got the Q5 system about a month ago. I use it for mobile auto painting. It has been great so far. Now I realize I had tainted air supply for 25 years. 😂

    Will Mrs Wife be ok with the paint fumes at the shop? Question for you: as I inch forward on my next Jeep TJ projects, in your opinion which of these two projects would you do first? Project 1) Retrofit A/C into the car. Project 2) Rear axle upgrade to a (bolt on) Dana 44?

      I will be painting on a Saturday night using an inflatable booth and no one is in the shop till usually Tuesday so hoping any fumes will be gone for the most part - I got a thumbs up to try it hahahahaha. It it was near beginning summer Id do the AC - if it was cooling down Id do the 44 lol.

    Dave: Great video, I am wondering why existing spray guns can not work with the Fuji system? Someone surely must have come up with some kind of adapter or work around? That would be such an apparent flaw it would
    affect sales. Perfect timing for me as I have a YJ that needs a paint redo. Will be good for you to sit in air conditioning at your shop and just focus on laying paint down.

    • @RedneckGarage
      @RedneckGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question - you would think there is enough airflow to push the material thru - possibly it restricts the turbine too much ?

    A 1.3 is too big for automotive paints? No ball busting intended but that is untrue, i use a 1.4 for everything except clear coats or extremely thin coatings like acrylic lacquers

  • @jpooch00

    I just returned this exact (POS) unit to Amazon for a refund. The air that comes out is so hot that it melted the hose and it blew apart and rendered the whole thing useless. Also, very noisy. Sounded like the motor had dry bearings. Didn't' last two hours of intermittent use. Worthless junk, IMO. Says made in Canada. Probably more like assembled in Canada from the cheapest Chinese-made parts available!

    • @LongIslandHobbyist

      It won't work with any other type of guns. They have to be hvlp guns(high volume low pressure)
