I could see the comments a mile away, so I'll say... I appreciate the advice to gesso the wood before painting on it, but the thing is... the box is supposed to contain everything you need. If they wanted me to treat it first... they should have included something! ;)

I've never used wood in my art but I know it's porus and I was thinking maybe it needed to be treated but I'm like - shouldn't the good people from the subscription box mentioned that or supplied the gesso or pretreated the wood or something?? What's up with that??? You work with what they give you I guess!! 😕
Oof I almost commented that because I personally love wood as much as paper to paint on-I've done watercolour on properly gessoed wood with no issues!
It would suck in my eyes if wood panels got ruined for you because palettefull didnt bother to mention it and/or properly supply ya.

When I draw, I‘ll do the sketch and be like „yeah, that looks kinda cool“ but when I start with the linework and erase the sketch, I‘m like „what have i done?!“

I know exactly how you feel.. I've just invested in a really dark greylead pencil which I saw another water colour artist use so I'm curious to see if it will help to add something but not like.. Screw it up with thick line art haha

Small tip for paint pens! When I first used mine, I think holding down vs mostly pumping gets it flowing quicker if not just as well. Pumping them gets p tiring!!

Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE the black canvas piece! The creepiness of the creatures juxtaposed with the cuteness of the bushes is really interesting and nice.
Usually with any paint pen it’s better to shake the paint to the tip so you don’t accidentally wear it down or break the tip…
Believe me… I learnt that the hard way by pushing in the tip, granted it was a cheaper brand but I believe it’s still a possibility for other brands
I watch with captions on and it kept writing “ pasta pens “ and now I can’t un-hear/ un-see it ;-;

For posca pens, I have had some pens close to their design, I men a the pumping part. I normally just hold it down, NOT HARD, but just long enough for the inking to flow to the tip.

I’ve been working with paint pens on wood for awhile and I thank you so much for sharing this video with us. I’ve had questions but couldn’t find the answers until now. I know if I paint or prime the wood first it’s much better. I love how you use the water and a color with a brush for some blending and lighten the color.

Slap stickers are used in the graffiti/street art community, where you write your tag name on it and stick them on places around your town: such as light poles, phone booths, walls, etc.

Personally I love traditional art way more than digital art because it has texture, it’s one of a kind (you can’t make exact same copies of it like you can on digital), and artist touched it so it has more life! Btw the art piece really came out so cool and I loved the background music lol, it’s so cute.

Wood soaks up paint. I once was painting wood on a set to look like books. I did three coats of white and it was still patchy and unfinished looking. That and the bleeding in the cracks is why a lot of people try to do a base layer to paint on so it doesn't waste any nice art supplies or ruin details. Plus, it's faster.

Nice Video, great painting. When I paint with posca on wood, I sand it down to a smooth surface. 220 grid mostly. That stops the bleeding.
