I just think that you create truly wonderful artworks even when you restrict yourself by limiting your art supplies! I am still longing for the Prompt series and videos of Ant creations! I did catch some Ants on a Twitch stream, but I so rarely catch those. I hope you are going to try some live TH-cam streams and work on your Ant artworks! Ok, I am just so glad you are still creating videos that are truly inspirational and quite amazing too! Thank you.

    Kasey I would LOVE to see you play around more with coloured pencils and maybe learning to use them "properly" (for lack of a better word) and particularly with using different blending methods. Personally I found the best blending method is using a wet medium like Gamsol/Zest-it(although I dislike the scent of Zest-it) or generic Odourless Mineral Spirits (OMS). I use an old colourless alcohol brush marker that has dried out, dipped in the OMS and using an old dishcloth to remove any excess but there are people who use it with q-tips, paintbrushes, paper stumps/tortillions etc. There are a bunch of other blending mediums/methods that would make for a great comparison video, for example there are blending pencils, colourless blending pens (also rubbing/isopropyl alcohol so it doesn't need to actually be in a pen, this is just more convenient), Vaseline, Baby oil or any kind of oil such as cooking oil or mineral oil etc, paper stumps/tortillions on their own, different shades of the same colour (so using a slightly lighter green to blend darker green or a green to blue gradient for example) or even a white coloured pencil.
    These methods are used for 2 main purposes; firstly to create a flatter, smoother colour and get rid of any little white gaps that you get with paper that has some tooth to it (this is a better option for coloured pencils as it allows you to get more layers of colour and build up your pigment that way - instead of increased pressure which causes the pencils to break) and secondly to create much smoother, more seamless gradients like the ones you can get with paint or alcohol markers.
    As you seem to be really into coloured pencils at the moment it would definitely be a good way to improve/practice/experiment with them to do a comparison video and see which blending method/medium you find most effective and what you learn along the way!

    • @pinkkangaroo84
      @pinkkangaroo84 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sarah Renae Clark has a very comprehensive video on different coloured pencil blending methods

    • @Littlewings1211
      @Littlewings1211 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pinkkangaroo84 I know, it's good. She is very experienced with coloured pencils though as those and markers are her main mediums that she has worked with for a long time. I think it would be interesting to see someone like Kasey, who isn't as comfortable with coloured pencils as a medium to try and experiment with it as it is one thing that teaches you a lot about how coloured pencils work together, on their own, layered, with different amounts of pressure (I have to be honest, it still hurts my heart seeing how forceful she is with coloured pencils - even more so if they are the schmancy expensive ones like Polychromos and Prismacolor etc that I'd love to have more of but can't afford them 🤣), different brands or types of pencils and generally just getting to know the medium better.
      A video like Sarah's is brilliant for those who have used coloured pencils for a while and want to use the blending methods to 'level up' so to speak - I found it really insightful, particularly because she has a very different perspective from my own. She's overall very much a white pencil kinda gal and while I agree it works to blend coloured pencils nicely I prefer the wet mediums like OMS because they don't mute the colours you're using - particularly important if you like to layer and blend your own colours or shades with your pencils - and I also find that it restores some of the tooth of the paper, allowing for more layers and blending.
      I think that the benefits of Kasey doing a video like this are a) for her, as mentioned you learn a ton about coloured pencils by figuring and experimenting with different blending methods and different papers and b) it's always really good to see this kind of thing from someone less experienced, or even a total newbie to coloured pencils as often they will come at it from a completely different perspective and can even teach those more experienced/comfortable with the medium a few new tricks/techniques purely because they don't have that prior knowledge so everything is a "what if?.... What would that do?..... Would this look good?" experience and those tend to be what yield the most unique results. 😊

    @Littlewings1211 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have you tried the bicolour pencils that are meant for using together? Like for shading? I have to be honest, whether I like these tends to be dependent on the price. If they cost the same as a regular set of coloured pencils with the same amount of colours it annoys me because you're essentially getting half the product for the same price. If they're a lot cheaper then it's not so bad but I think it's a lot more cost effective to just buy a larger set of coloured pencils. It's easy to get a huge set of decent coloured pencils for a reasonable price nowadays so these kind of things just tend to be a waste of money - although for a novelty item or a video like this one they are a lot of fun and serve a purpose.

    But I see there's also a dog with a cat for a tail, a living tulip that crawls like a worm, a duck who has a fish grafted to his bum, a tree-man, a zombie-dolphin, a funny frog, and I've completely forgotten the peach-blue drawing she ends up making, but those colors remind me of the little dude she drew just using orange and blue Poscas. I'll get back to you when I'm further along.
    EDIT: The peach-blue drawing is a worm who walks with golem-mechs.
